So for the first time in my life I was selected for jury duty. So on my lunch break I saw this place which was very close to the courthouse. The place Picture your average small town dinner with the baked goods sitting on the counter by the register. That is this place. The food I ordered breakfast I was to scared to try much else knowing I would be in the courtroom all day. I figured no one could screw up eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns. Which they didnt except for I ordered wheat toast and I got white which was disappointing but oh well. Can I ask you all why do most diners serve crappy coffee? That is the such a let down for me! It doesn’t have to top notch coffee but at least it should be decent! The service The waitress was busy since it was lunch time however she walked by use many times and never stopped to check us. So I had to stop her to ask for a refill on the coffee once or twice. The verdict All in all this place is average nothing special but nothing worth a stop if it is out of your way. One side note if you do come here don’t wait for her to take your bill. Yuu have to bring it up to the register yourself. I wasted 10 minutes waiting until someone told me!

Food was ok. Service was quick and polite. Food was quick as well. A lot of noise. Not a fan of the wait staff vacuuming while we were eating.

I have only ever been here for breakfast but it is delicious. I usually get the basic eggs, toast, sausage, and home fries. It’s the best breakfast in town, in my opinion. Very reasonable too.

Basic diner fare in a quaint town setting. We all got breakfast and it was cooked perfectly for what it was. The soda was overpriced($ 2) considering it was served in a small 8 oz glass, and the kids breakfast didn’t come with a ton of food, but all in all a cute place to grub, with a nice street view.

Diner style place, very cute! Street parking, meters. Pretty decent food, some things good, some things not so much! Onion rings, country fried steak, roast beef and Han & potato soup was all great! Hashbrowns and their world famous sticky bun were not good at all really! Decent prices, somewhat friendly staff. Specials sell out early!

This place was very cute and was actually a nice find. This place is definitely the most crowded in the area. The atmosphere is typical diner, with a counter and a few tables when you walk in, and a full dining room with many tables towards the back. The décor is bland, but I guess it is sort of expected in a small town, neighborhood eatery. The service was quite nice, accommodating. The menu was short and sweet, with a little of everything. There was breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, and on Sunday’s, a full dinner(maybe you could get it during the week.) It happened to be Sunday when we went, so we all ordered the special. The price was amazing for the amount of food you were receiving. You got a dinner roll or a sticky bun, soup or drink, salad, and choice of sides, with a choice of dessert. We started off with our breads. The dinner roll was okay, but you must get the sticky bun. It is paradise. It is so sweet, sticky, and had so much cinnamon that I thought I would faint. Plus, they make it on the premises. Their soups are quite nice, not the greatest. Their salads are fresh, I don’t know why some people are complaining about freshness. They are busily preparing all of the entrees in the back very quickly! Our entrees came out very fast. I had ordered a turkey dinner, which I got with mashed potatoes and vegetable. The turkey was dry and a bit undercooked, which was a disappointment, but I forgave them since it tasted pretty good and the mashed potatoes were buttery and delicious. Their fried chicken was very good, prepared fresh. The chicken was cooked nicely and was quite a surprise. All of their entrees sounded appealing, so make sure to check those out. The best part of the meal was the dessert. We had a choice of a pie flavor which was written out on the board, where they were slowly erasing some selections as more people ordered them. I ordered a graham cracker pie, which was really sweet. The pie itself had a strange consistency, but the piece was huge and it tasted great. Their raspberry pie is yummy and so is their peach.

Like others said before, this is a standerd diner with good food in my opinion. I had a burger and it was good, but not the best, but what do you expect from a diner? My dad had a sandwich which he say was ok. This would have been a 3 star if not for the excellent service. They were fast and nice and i enjoyed the experience a lot. Overall, I would go here if your looking for a fast, good diner in Bath NY.

Ugh. I was sad after leaving here. They talked me into the«All you can eat» dinner bar for $ 8.99 and it consisted of salad, one soup, and chicken wings. There was nothing else on the buffet. They wanted to charge me for dessert. The soup was edible but extremely greasy and the wings were incredibly dry. Service was also rough. Getting a refill on my water has been one of the more difficult things I had to do this entire week. The wait staff wasn’t very interested in being attentive of paying attention to us. I would not recommend this place if you are a traveler through the area.

The service was sweet, however I was served cold Apple pie that came straight out of the fridge — even the plate was cold. I did expect it to b be the best Apple pie ever, being that I was at a diner in a small town, but no.

This is an establishment serving up fresh, homemade breakfasts, lunches and dinners. I ate breakfast and dinner there and everything was freshly prepared, served with a smile and delicious. It is a simple place, seemingly stuck in time, reminding me of a Mayberry type of atmosphere. The prices are excellent, compared to what you get. Don’t miss the homemade sticky buns. A peek into the kitchen, revealed a spic and span work area.

We tried this place while traveling and experienced below average diner food. I’m not a snob about diners — I like diners — but I routinely find better food, selections and service. For those trying to eat healthy, go elsewhere. The vegetable selection is almost nonexistent, and breaded and fried is the only option for fish. Food was served quickly, but then our server disappeared. Not a good experience. As another reviewer said, «two stars is generous.»

On the road… decided to stop at a local place for a break… fell upon this place. Sum it up… disappointing. It takes effort to make average food taste below average. And the sticky buns mentioned in the prior reviews; and also by our waitress were bland, doughy. lots more flour than cinnamon. .YUK

When you picture a diner in a small town, you are here. There are on the main drag with every color and shape of brick buildings around it. The small town theme is clear from the counter with regulars, and you know they are regulars, to the salad bar that has salad and not much else. Like all diners, the key is not the menu but the white special board. It was loaded with gems on a saturday lunch time. A couple of words to look for Bacon Macaroni & Cheese, it comes with the salad bar. It was to die for! Mix of cheeses but mostly sharp cheddar and smoky bacon. As part of salad bar, you can stuff yourself into a cholestrol coma! But hold on there is more… the ham and bean soup is awesome. Again off the board, another good choice hamburger vegetable soup and chickie salad. You will know the town events by the time you leave. Or at least some of the local dirt on who is not doing what they are supposed to. Two dinners with drinks less than $ 20.

This place probably only tastes good if you’re over 65. Our party of under 30’s definitely brought the age ratio down a lot. I ordered an omelette — it was rather bland. The home fries were also pretty blah. My husband got the salisbury steak and thought it tasted like a very plain burger. He thought it was supposed to have gravy on it, but it came without. The waiter gave us some A1 which helped it out a bit. The french fries were a winner, and the wait staff seemed pleasant enough. My brother in law got the fried chicken and liked it(but it’s also pretty hard to mess up fried chicken!). Overall, if you’re a local and over 65, this seems to be the place to hang out. Otherwise, I’d keep driving.

On road trips I’ve driven past Bath, NY countless times and never even knew this gem was here. Last month, on a lazy Saturday drive back to VA I discovered it on Unilocal. Fantastic! Road food is always a risky endeavor, but finding this place was a definite win. I sat at the counter as most tables were filled with happy people and the server was friendly and efficient. I can’t even remember what I ordered, but I remember walking out with that special satisfaction that comes when you know you’ve found someplace special. If you’re passing by, even if you’re not hungry, stop by because places like this are gold.

On our way back from Canada, we decided to stop in Bath, a historic town with a nice looking Main Street, for dinner. There were a number of options, but we chose Chat-A-Whyle. It was a solid choice — the restaurant is very clean, service is very friendly, food is decent. We especially liked dessert — strawberry pie. Prices are low, as well. As you sit watching and listening to the clientele, you very much feel the small-town vibe here. Everyone knows everyone, people are concerned with others. A man eating at the counter by himself was clearly somewhat mentally ill; the waitress constantly looked in on him, checking to see if he needed anything, asking if he was alright. At the end of his meal, she said ‘Johnny already paid for your meal’, referring to someone who’d been sitting at a nearby table earlier and had left shortly before. Those are the types of random acts of kindness that are not seen too often in a large city, but I’m sure they are commonplace in Bath.
