My wife had lacerated the first joint on her right index finger. The laceration was stitched up at the Baton Rouge General(Bluebonnet) ER. The day after the incident, due to pain in the lower part of the index finger, my wife called the Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic to request a consult to determine if there was any damage to tendons or nerves. The Clinic was able to schedule a consult with Dr Michael Robichaux, MD for the next day. My wife and I arrived at the clinic and presented to the check-in desk. The intake person was friendly and attentive. My wofe was presented a registration form which was very succinct and to the point. Upon completing the registration form(5 min). We were ushered back to Dr Robichaux’s waiting area. We had to wait only 5 — 6 minutes before we were escorted to a consult room by a medical assistant who removed the dressing and splint on the finger and took down the medical history of the injury. This took about 5 minutes. Dr Robichaux entered the consult room about 3 – 4 minutes after the MA was done. Dr Robichaux conducted an examination of the injury and conducted some physical testing to determine the extent of the injury. Following this, Dr Robichaux spent 15 minutes explaining what his findings were and what was needed to correct the damage to the finger’s tendons and nerves. He even drew some pictures to better explain the options to be followed for the surgery. Dr Robichaux had an excellent ‘bedside manner’ and his explanations were straightforward and easy to follow. My wife was able to schedule her surgery with Dr. Robichaux for the next afternoon. Dr Robichaux’s nurse, Jennifer, next spent about 15 minutes going over the pre-op instructions and re-dressing and splinting the injured finger. Jennifer was professional and fabulously polite. Her treatment of my wife was like she was treating her own mom. The checkout clerk was professional and friendly — complementing my wife on her nails — and took just a few minutes to process her out. With this encounter — the Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic demonstrated outstanding professionalism and a very patient-friendly atmosphere. This organization is very highly recommended for someone who needs orthopaedic services in the Baton Rouge area.

I can’t express how much love I have for Dr. Catherine Johnson. I got into a head-on-collision back in November 2009& I got so lucky because she was the Doctor on call. My leg/ankle was crushed in the accident & Dr. Johnson re-built my leg with rods/screws/pins. She did two surgeries on my leg & have one more to do. She was sweet, funny, helpful, & she explained everything. I was scared because I never had surgery before, but she put me at ease. She followed me for the next two years due to me learning how to walk again & etc. Each time I seen her, she listened, she told me what she thought & how I can approach my walking/pain. I also loved that while she was in my second surgery, she put my tattoo back together. I have stars going down my right left & she sewed it up where everything is back in alignment. Someone that goes the extra mile is amazing & for that, I will be forever thankful to her. I also loved that when I call about my Mom’s foot that she broke, she was booked, but still squeezed her in. Without a doubt, the best Orthopedic Foot/Ankle Doctor in Baton Rouge. I would not recommend anyone else. You will not regret seeing her. Even though I now live in North Carolina, I will still continue to see Dr. Johnson when I go home & if I have a question, I will call there. No one else will touch this leg except her. She also has an amazing staff. Any time I call, I get treated like I am the only one that matters. From Elizabeth to Jen, to Rebecca to the xray techs that is next door at the office. Just great all the way around. Bravo! Thank you Dr. Johnson for all that you do. (:

It’s never fun going to the doctor. It’s even worse when it becomes an absolute time bomb. A time bomb in terms of the time it took to be seen and a time bomb in terms of the results. Overall, just a big waste of time that yielded almost no results. I’d give this place 2.5 stars. The nurses for the most part were pretty friendly. I was back home in Baton Rouge for Christmas break, and managed to mess my left wrist up pretty badly. From a scheduling standpoint, I was able to get an appointment the day after my injury, which was the good part. The bad part was when I showed up for my appointment, the doctor didn’t show up to the office until another TWO hours later. Yes, I understand a wait time is to be expected, but seriously, two hours? In fact he wasn’t even in the office seeing patients. The worst part was the end result. I end up having to take an MRI of my left hand, which requires you to be absolutely still for 30 minutes. I figured, they’d be able to then tell whether or not a ligament is torn in my wrist. Well… no. The best part was leaving the clinic without any type brace or sling, at least even from a precautionary standpoint. It was quite obvious, my wrist was hurt. I ended buying my own brace over the counter, despite it not being totally correct for where my injury occurred. As you’ll see in my Hospital for Special Surgery in New York( ) review, they were able to special make a brace for me on the spot, custom molded for my wrist. Yeah, it may not be quite fair to compare to two places, considering HSS is the #1 place to see an orthopedic surgeon in the US… but it’s kind of amazing the huge gap in patient care. Finally, it took them a month to finally send the official results of my MRI to me. The MRI film had to be sent off to another orthopedic surgeon in Mandeville to be read and then diagnosed. The diagnosis said nothing incredible was read from the MRI, yet a month later, there is something still wrong with my wrist. If it weren’t for the super friendly and nice nurses, I’d have to say, my visit to the BROC was pretty much a waste of time. Luckily, my insurance doesn’t require a copay or else it’d be a waste of money also.
