Bocage Bee & Honey is nestled next to the Drusilla Shopping Center near the interstate. The shop had a variety of different local honeys, and the owner Milou was very detailed at explaining the different taste profiles and history behind each flavor. She explained to me why beeswax has a longer burning time than soy or paraffin candles, and how most conventional beeswax pellets are bleached as opposed to theirs which aren’t bleached or have any additives in it. I learned that need have a flight radius of 5 miles, and other amazing tidbits about the healing powers of honey and even how honeycombs are a perfect geometrical shape. I loved my experience and the variety of products. Honey(obviously), honey caramel(burnt honey), glycerin soaps and honeycombed face bars, candles, lotion bars, local soaps made by Bön Savon, diaper cream, men’s shaving bars, mustache waxes, and beard softener. I love how Bocage Bee participates in the downtown farmers market, and supports other local businesses. I use bocage honey in my day spa for some services, and it never ceases to amaze my clients how fresh and youthful their skin feels afterward. Honey is liquid gold, and bocage bee is a hidden gem! What an amazing little shop, and business owner! Milou knows her craft well, and she knows everything about honey!

I’ve only stopped in here once, but I had a great experience when I did! The staff was very attentive and helpful. They guided me through sampling several selections of local honey based on my answers to a few questions. They then quickly helped me locate my preferred type of honey from the shelves and processed my purchase. The entire experience was less than 10 minutes long but still very enjoyable! I love when businesses merge efficiency with great customer service! Also, Bocage Bee & Honey Co. has a wide variety of items, not just different types of honey. I can’t wait to stop back in when I have more time to take a look at the other items they offer.

Great local honey! They also carry various gift and beauty products made from Bees Wax, etc. If you want an excellent source for local honey, Bocage Bee & Honey Co. has a wide selection of local honey available all times of the year. If you think honey is just what you find in the local supermarket… clover honey, wildflower, tupelo, etc. then you don’t know what you are missing out on and should pay them a visit. They are very knowledgeable and can explain the different nuances in their different honeys based on where it was collected and what the bees made the honey with and they will also give you a honey tasting before you go home just to find out that the honey you chose was not something you liked the taste of. Also, unlike many things you find in the supermarkets… over-processed…, you won’t find that here, it comes straight from the honey hives. They also are at the Farmer’s Market in Baton Rouge if you find yourself there. That is how I originally found them and have been ordering our honey from them ever since.
