The trail is really easy. Make sure you have a map because it can get confusing at least for me it did to get back. The beach is really clean and warm. The bikers will let you know when they’re coming. If any other hikers are there they’re really nice. But it’s a beautiful hike. You can see the swamp at the river. Relax at the beach. You can bring your pet. It’s a very enjoyable place to hike at.

I was dying to find a park where there was no pavement. I was honestly a little skeptical about coming here but decided to anyhow. Being from Colorado I am used to REAL hike trails, hills, mud, trees etc. I have to say i was very pleased with this park, I had such a great time hiking. It was a short hike but it was worth it. I will be returning for sure.

The entrance was kind of hard to spot and apple maps took me to some random neighborhood. The trail is through trees and you see some swampy areas. There’s a path to a small little beach and it looks nice. The only problem is maybe the mosquitoes, so bring some repellant. There might be spiderwebs and little bugs flying around but you can pick up a little branch or something to take care of that. Overall, it was a nice nature walk.

Kinda small for me but my dogs had a blast here so thats what counts! Don’t forget your mosquito spray. I was nearly eaten alive but then again it had just rained. Wasn’t able to get to the beach because the place was flooded but again the dogs had a blast running through the mud. They have a spot where u can rinse your dog thankfully. I’d go back bc I really wanted to try the beach area.

The Comite River Park is a great escape from the suburban blahness of Baton Rouge. The park has a 6 mile mountain bike racing course, with off-shoot trails for riders of various experience levels. Usually, though, I go hiking here with my dog. It’s hilly enough to be a lot of fun without being too exhausting. They’re adding new trails all the time, so you can spend 2 hours on a short hike or upwards of 6 hours exploring the woods. The maze of trails can be a little confusing, so grab a map when you come in or bring your GPS with you with your directionally challenged. BONUS — there is a beach! The banks of the Comite River have soft, white sand. The beach is a great place to hang out, bring your dog, go fishing, or play in the water. The trail to the beach is off marker 6(not by the tree that has a sign that says«Beach Trail» — you still need to go about another mile after that marker).
