Since this is the only dim sum place in Baton Rouge and since there are at most 2 – 3 other authentic places in Baton Rouge which serve Chinese cuisine, and MOSTIMPORTANTLY, the food is tasty and flavorful, this gets the 5 star rating. This is a somewhat hard to find place which is not going to impress you with its attractiveness. You go here for the food and type of food it serves — Chinese — dim sum style. While the food is not served from carts and instead you have to order it off a menu, this should not take too much from the experience — the food is good — almost everything here has some sort of distinctive taste and flavor for the palate. Most of the offerings are dim sum – small dishes – with the idea the diner orders multiple dishes to consume and share with the table, there are also regular size offerings which do not disappoint. There’s standard har gow, Sui Mai, ribs, tArot root, as well as various rice and noodle offerings plus wonton and other types of soup, and clay pot options. If you like this food you will come multiple times to try the extensive menu offerings.

Oh my love for Dim Sum! I’m from Hong Kong southern part of China where Dim Sum started so I’ve had my share of dim sums! This is the only dim sum place I know of in Baton Rouge, I’m not disappointed! There are a few items I wouldn’t order just because it really isn’t up to my standard but I wouldn’t consider them bad, it’s just the art of dim sum is really hard to master. First off, I LOVE their Shrimp Rice Noodles 蝦腸. Very smooth and soft, perfect texture with the sweet soy sauce I can eat en entire plate by myself. Then I also love the Chinese Radish Cake蘿蔔糕, the texture can be improved but the taste is excellent, pair it with some chili oil– Yum! Their chicken feet 鳳爪 are also great, perfect texture with just enough seasoning! Items I’m not a huge fan of: BBQ pork bun叉燒包, the texture is off. Shrimp dumplings蝦餃, I’ll order if I’m in the mood but it can be better. The wrappings are too thick but shrimp tastes good! Spring Rolls春卷, way too greasy! Sticky rice in leaf糯米雞, it is just off with not much flavors. Beefy stir fry noodles干炒牛河, very greasy and the noodles are overcooked!

My all time favorite dim sum dish is the cheung fun, which is Chinese steamed rice noodles. You can have them plain, with veggies, beef or shrimp. And it is drizzled with a delicious sweet soy sauce I am SOHAPPY that this place is here so that I can satisfy my cravings for it. The Dim Sum Restaurant is a great place for some traditional Cantonese food, especially since it is difficult to find authentic Chinese food in Baton Rouge. The service is ok. It’s been a hit or miss. Sometimes our order is taken quickly and our drink and food come out in a reasonable amount of time. Other times, not so much. I’d recommend coming here before you reach the«I’m starving» stage and invest some time exploring the menu, since they have a lot to offer here. Best to come with a larger group of people so you can try a little bit of everything!

This is the best Chinese food in Baton Rouge! My husband and I love this place. The only drawback is that they do serve one of my favorite dishes anymore… the claypot rice! It was one of the best things I had ever eaten when it was there. Please bring back the claypot rice! :) Other than the claypot rice, any of the traditional dim sum is delicious. My favorite things are the ha gow, stuffed tofu, Chinese broccoli, fired taro root, spring rolls, chive gow, and there are other things, I just have to look at the menu to see the photos.

Here I am again, love this restaurant so much!!! Come to eat here every time when I visit Baton Rouge. Highly recommended. You don’t have to drive 5 hours all the way to Houston to get Chinese food. You can get it here. Zhou Family run this restaurant, they are all so friendly. Food is excellent!!!

Seconds? Thirds? Maybe more? Yes please! Dim Sum is sumthing else(rimshot, please). My band of roving outlaws ordered about half the things on the menu and everything was great. Make sure you start off with some hot tea, we found it was great on its own and a great palate cleanser. Next, order everything you see. The dishes typically come with between 3 and 6 pieces, leaving room for the next. I could go into detail about the food itself, but instead I will direct you to Jourdan O’s review.

Horrible. Old fried rice – sent it back, already swollen from dumplings. Don’t recommend.

Went here for a friend’s birthday. Building was very much of a turn off both outside and inside. Figured I’d give it a go anyways since I was meeting a group. I don’t remember the names of what I ordered, but there were shrimp in dumplings made of rice noodles, shrimp balls coated in rice and fried and potstickers. To be honest it wasn’t outstanding enough to say, Yum I have to eat here again! At least I can say I’ve tried dim sum.

It was just alright. I felt like everything missed the mark by a little bit. My curried noodles while flavorful were sooooo greasy and not spicy at all. The curried calamari was bland and served in a tiny bowl. My volcano shrimp ordered extra spicy were… bland. It was probably the best dish on the table which was sad. With a few minor adjustments this place could be a ton better. Not likely to come back anytime soon.

The previous comments about the décor are spot on. it’s old and stereotypically«chinese.» I have no idea what everyone else was talking about when they speak of the difficulty in locating it. It’s on Delcourt Ave right off Airline… like…really, you turn off Airline onto Delcourt and it’s right there! The service was fast and pleasant, not overly friendly. I’ve been wanting to find a dim sum restaurant with high quality since I visited the Los Angeles area months ago and had the pleasure of going to Din Tai Fung. My hopes were high, but they were dashed, first because this isn’t really dim sum and second because… well…it just wasn’t that good. I tried the Siu Mai, Cha Sui Bao, Shu Mai, Spicy Curry Clay Pot, stir fried Singapore Vermicelli noodles, and Volcano shrimp. The Cha Sui Bao was ok(there wasn’t much meat in the very thick buns) and so were the Singapore Vermicelli noodles and Volcano Shrimp(although I make a sauce at home that tastes exactly like the Volcano Shrimp sauce and messing it up is difficult). Some of the Siu Mai tasted like it had been frozen and the Shu Mai all tasted of freezer burn. But the Spicy Curry Clay Pot was very disappointing. The shrimp weren’t cleaned… at all. And neither were the clams. I tried a clam and was greeted with sand/dirt/grit. What a shame. I really wish it had been better… I still have a yearning for great dim sum that appears to have to be fulfilled along with my travels.

Ok let me start off by saying that I am a Cantonese American who is born in Baton Rouge but I have visited both Guangdong and Hong Kong multiple times and eaten Dim Sum in many different parts of those cities(relevant because these are the birth places of Dim Sum). Further more my father is a former Dim Sum chef and knows quality Dim Sum. If there is anything we know its Dim Sum. This restaurant has had 3 owners in the last 15 – 20 years but something worth note is that in those 20 years the chef has NOT changed. Now the selection of the place is not large. In fact compared to most Dim Sim restaurants its small, but the quality of the dishes that they do have are amazing. Top 3 I have ever had. The Siu Mai(shrimp and pork dumplings), Lo Ba Ko(radish cake) and Lo Mei Gei(stuffed sweet rice) are hands down the best I have ever had. My father disagrees because he likes the Lo Pa Ko at this other place in Guangdong. Go there and order the Haa Coeng(shrimp rice noodle), Ngao Coeng Fan(beef with shrimp flat noodle), Fried Shrimp Balls, Cha Siu Bao(red pork steamed bun), Fung Zao(chicken feet) and the three dishes that I mentioned above and you should be good. A lot of other good stuff but those are the essentials. Ive been to Dallas, Houston, the 626, New York, China and Hong Kong and I’m still putting this place in top 3! Top 3! Dont let these entitled Asian people who have tried Dim Sum in Texas and California fool you into missing a great opportunity to eat at a great restaurant! Peace!

I went there twice in a row after work this past weekend because it was so good. And the wait staff, especially my waitress both times, was really sweet and nice. I got one of the appetizers with shrimp in it, #23 I think, I’m not going to attempt the name.

No dim sum carts, but the lazy susan on the round tables makes up for it. Go here with a group and order as much as you can afford and make an effort to try something new. The menu is packed with items you probably have never heard of and they are all worth a try. Be warned, it can get expensive if you let your stomach to the ordering. Dig in, share everything with your party and have fun with it.

First impressions mean a lot to me coming from an Asian family, and when my family took some of their friends out to this place, our experience was actually not that good, being a rainy day, customers were slow and strangely enough the service was as well. The servers were excellent but the hostess that wore a pink shirt seemed like she didn’t want to be there, nor seemed to care when we asked for a few favors such as extra plates or utensils. Besides that I’ll give this another shot when I have a chance, then I’ll give a good review or a very bad one.

The food is mediocre. But I see why people gave 4 or 5 stars, for Louisiana standard, it’s pretty good. For Houston standard, it’s not worth going back. The price is decent, but you also don’t get the quality and quantity you would at a dim sum place in bigger city with more asians. The place itself is dark and kinda dirty, reminded me those super old chinese restaurant dark and greasy carpets, and very tacky asian decorations. The whole place just looked gross and unappetizing. Good thing I didn’t get diarrhea after eating their food.

Hidden restaurant off of airline. Easy to miss. Once inside this place is constantly busy. Family operated. Food is excellent. My only recommendation is to have the employees push the carts around. Will definitely return! Must try: fried shrimp balls.

Best DIMSUMINLOUISIANA. Truly. Better than Panda King in nola and Royal China in metairie. Panda King does Dim sum on carts — true style of dim sum, but this also forfeits freshness. Flavor is lacking compared to price as well. Royal China does dim sum but they make it fresh. However, flavor is lacking and pricing is way too high for a shack-like atmosphere. Dim sum in Baton Rouge is truly what it advertises. It’s name represents what it has to offer. Dim Sum. And damn good dim sum at that. The price — very reasonable. Freshness — always. Flavors — on point.

Our options for dim sum in southern Louisiana is limited. I was so excited to find a place that offers it AND serves it every day as their main menu. If you’ve had the opportunity to try dim sum in elsewhere in the country(SF/NY/Boston/Houston, etc), you may feel that this doesn’t compare. We take what we can get here, okay? Compared to the two other popular places I’ve tried(Panda King in NOLA and Royal China in Metairie), the overall flavors of this place is the best out of all three. The basic items(shu mai, har gow, rice noodle etc) are about the same across the board. The sauce for rice noodles is better than the other places to me. The chicken feet and beef tripe were seasoned very well!!! The radish cake is a bit soft(sometimes soggy like another reviewer described). I enjoyed seeing something different on the menu that I haven’t seen at the other places: clay pot rice. I tried the one with Chinese sausage. The way it is cooked makes for a chewy, moist rice. It hits the spot as comfort food for me. Overall, the menu selection covers the basics of dim sum. I wish they had rice soups though! The location is off of Airline about a mile or so north of I-12. Once you turn on the side street, it’s about two buildings down on your left. It was pretty easy to find. There is a small lot; I’ve never had a problem with parking. The interior has that old fashioned Chinese restaurant charm. I like the tables are spaced out; you don’t get that cramped feeling. There are a few large round tables, too, to accomodate large groups. Service is good, and they are helpful in explaining the dishes if you have never tried something before. Four stars — good place to appease your cravings, but they don’t offer push cart service(not that I have seen… correct me if I am wrong)

Sketchy location. crappy service and it looks creepy. The food was mediocre at most. We had the following: — Beef Flat Rice Noodle — noodles was really mushy, we ended up not eating this, we just picked out the beef and ate that instead — Beef Tripe — did they microwave this? it tastes like its been nuked. and its very mushy and not tasty at all — Cha Siu Bao — tastes very old and dry — Steamed Spare Ribs — this was okay, kind of bland — House Fried Rice — this was decent — Potstickers — this was also decent — Salt & Pepper Calamari — probably the best thing I ate there, crisp and delicious — Shrimp Rice Noodles — the rice noodles was okay, not great but not bad neither — Siu Mai — the siu mai was okay, tastes like many other places — White Radish Cake — this tastes like total crap, it was really soggy, normally it is crispy. but not here. It seems like its a hit and miss here. I probably wouldn’t come here again.
