Came here about two months ago. My grandfather passed away a couple of months before and I went in to see if I could have his favorite jacket altered to fit me. I went in fully aware that what I was asking for would cost more than the jacket was even worth, but it was still something I wanted to do. The lady acted like I couldn’t pay the $ 60(I was fully prepared to pay at least $ 100) it would cost to repair and alter. She asked if my grandfather was alive or dead, and when I told her he had passed, she said I could wear the jacket for fun. I have never had anyone ever treat me like such a child. I will never go back.

My grandfather passed a few months ago and I got one of his favorite coats and wanted to get it altered to fit me. I went into Evelyn’s knowing that the alteration would cost more then the jacket was worth, but it was a sentimental thing that brings me comfort. When I went in, I explained what I needed her to do, and she asked me to try the jacket on and then told me what I already I knew, that it would cost more then it was worth… Like 60 dollars, in a very patronizing voice she then added, «not that I don’t think you could pay for it.» She then asked me if my grandfather had passed. I choked up a little and nodded, then she told me that I could maybe wear it for fun … Like I was 12 years old. To me this is not how to run a business that probably thrives on referrals… I don’t know about you, but I will bring my business to people who appreciate it. Which is not Evelyn’s, your customers shouldn’t leave upset. Go anywhere else.

I’ve gotten many suits, dresses, and jeans altered here. The young lady who takes my measurements is friendly. One time I wasn’t happy with the way the thread looked after a dress was hemmed and she fixed it very quickly. I’ve been pleased every other time and will continue to use her service.
