Drink prices are fair. The bar is so small and you cant move around. If your under the age of 35 and not fat prepare to be molested with eyes and verbal. This place is like to catch a predator put all the guys they found in one place. Old men will grab you. The bar smells like dust.

My first visit to George’s Place was in 1989 — wow — and this little building on the corner of a parking lot under the bridge is still alive and kicking. I returned after a long absence. The place has been renovated and is very inviting with the addition of the cute little patio. Inside has plenty of tvs to watch vintage and new videos. The staff is very gracious and the crowd is friendly. This is a perfect spot for a happy hour cocktail or late night drink.

Things to Know: No Cover. Largely Male Clientele though their lady friends do frequently tag along. Sometimes there are a lot of ladies who love ladies in the establishment and other times you are banging your fist down on the bar and yelling«Where are all the freaking lesbians!» — Seriously, ladies of Baton Rouge, where are you all hanging out??? Anywho, prices are o.k. I won’t say they are ridiculously cheap but not overpriced, I guess decent, hell, $ 6 for a shot of Maker’s is pretty good I suppose. They DO have Karaōke but just on Wednesdays and Thursdays I’ve been told. Typical TV’s that blare loud music — check. Stage for Drag Shows — check that(I finger snapped as I said this in my head). There’s also a pool table, a cigarette machine, and a snack machine(well I am pretty sure there’s a snack machine). There are male bartenders and looks like they have a female bartender as well — though it wouldn’t hurt for management to hire another(Do ya’ll hear me!). This place is SMOKY which was great for me when I smoked — not so pleasant now that I’ve stopped smoking. Bar closes down at 2pm, but this is Baton Rouge, which is lame, so all bars close at 2pm… Oh yes, this is a dive bar so no need to be all fancy, anything goes and anything appears to be appreciated. Sure hoped that helped.

George’s is a gay dive bar with a primarily male clientele; although, there are plenty of lesbians who go there too. My favorite nights to go are Tues-Thurs during the Kats Ass Karaōke.(Note: Tipping the guy who runs it lets you sing sooner & more frequently.) On other nights there is music & dancing, and there is always a constant stream of either drag shows or gay soft porn(nothing too raunchy or odd) playing on several TVs. The drinks are well-priced, & there is no cover for 21+($ 5 cover for 18 – 21).

I much prefer this bar to any other alternative bar in Baton Rouge. Reminds me of the bars back at home in Lafayette. I’ve always had a friendly experience here!

I have to completely disagree with Mike T’s comments. I love this bar. George’s welcome’s everyone. The majority of the people are gay, but I am straight and have a FANTASTIC time there when I go with my gay guy friends. It is very tourist friendly, I have even brought in my parents and little sitter from out of town and they were welcomed with open arms. The owner, Guy, even bought them a drink when he found out they were in from out of town. It is a great place, a home away from home for me and so many others. Karaōke is awesome. So is the dancing and drag shows. ***Review by Amanda M.

This is a Gay bar and although it’s 95 percent men anyone can go and still feel comfortable. I go when I just want to sit at a bar and have a drink with friends. Not reccomended for dancing, they have kareoke(I know I can’t spell) and the drinks are cheap. If you pay with credit or ATM there is a $ 10 minimum and they have no cover charge to get in.
