Awesome place! I could eat there gumbo till I explode. Great for tailgating and parties. They sell tub the gumbo and tubs of jambalaya little feet up to 30 people. Joe Joe is an amazing artist. He is a metal sculptor. Definitely check out the sculptures in the back.

This is my go to place for cajun food! I love the jambalaya! They have the best jambalaya I’ve ever had! The gumbo is also very good!

This places serves some pretty tasty jambalaya… and gumbo, too! More often than not, I am picking up my order to take it back to work, but I have also eaten in the restaurant. There is plenty of seating; although, the lighting in the booth area could be better. The restaurant is also clean and staffed with friendly, smiling people. I often find myself wishing they had more size options for the gumbo orders, and I do sometimes find it a bit greasy. However, these things are not enough for me not to come back or to take more than a star off their rating. I’m definitely a fan!

I really have to wonder if the other reviewers ate at the same place I did. About a month ago we had some vendors come in town to work on a computer system at work. When lunch rolled around they told me how much they liked Jambalaya Shoppe the last time they were here. I hadn’t been before so I thought I’d give it a go. We get there around noon which typically, everything around here is packed at that time. We were the only ones there, except for a couple of people getting take-out. That struck me a bit odd right away. I first had to use the restroom. Their«creative» bathroom wiring and impromptu door-closer made that experience a bit nerve-racking, but at least it was clean – something that cannot be said about any other area of this place. It’s a complete dive, and I’m sure some people would see no problem with that. However, I’ve eaten in questionable places all around the world and this is the very first where I’ve observed LIVE cockroaches in the dining room while eating. Typically places at least have the decency to hide the filth behind-the-scenes, not have it out on display. There was a bunch of boxes and other stuff just piled up in the dining area too. Who knows what else is living in there. OK – now on to the food. The food actually was really good. I ordered the Red Beans & Rice with sausage and it was definitely the most flavorful dish of read beans I’ve had in Baton Rouge. One of the vendors ordered fried boudin balls as a side and I enjoyed some of those as well. The potato salad came as a side dish and tasted a bit«off.» Nonetheless, the food could’ve been the saving grace… BUT, the next morning, the vendors are late coming in to work. Yes, it turns out two of the three dishes were complete gut grenades.(I got lucky I guess, but then agan the only meat in the dishes I ate were sausage that were likely prepared elsewhere) They also confess that the first time they went they had the same experience(!) and that they wouldn’t go again. I’ll never know why someone who’s been here once would voluntarily go back again, but one thing’s for certain – there’ll be no third time!

I’m in town from Los Angeles and was anxious to find some killer Jambalaya. Well, I found it. It’s got a hole in the wall vibe and the family that runs it is super charming and friendly. I bought the Jambalaya dinner which came with a mountain of Jambalaya, baked beans and potato salad. But the family was so nice that they wanted us to taste everything and gave us some Pastalaya(Jambalaya but the rice is swapped out for noodles) and a free banana pudding dessert. It was all delicious and I will definitely be going back before I leave. Just make sure you get there before 2pm because that’s when it closes on most days.

Best Jambalaya I have ever had. The chicken in it is so addictive. We took the family and ordered a lot of different things in small sizes to try everything. The kids loved it and we loved it. Our little girl actually colored and played hide and go seek with the daughter of the owner while we finished eating. Had a really fun time here on our vacation! Made great memories.

I love to pick up from here for lunch. Fast, fresh, and portions big enough for me to eat twice. I get the jambalaya dinner with potato salad and white beans. Always tasty!
