Master gardeners tend to this place, and the love of gardening and nature truly shows! Bring your children and small dogs, and enjoy!

BREC Independence Park is located on Goodwood Blvd and is over 90 acres… yes, that’s right 90 acres of fun! It offers a Botanical Garden that connects to a new teaching center & café (opening later this year 2014). It has a walking/​running track along Independence Blvd. that is perfect for those of us that hate to walk on concrete!
The new Main Library has just opened up and this hip, contemporary complex is the place to be in the area! Plan to spend a couple of hours for your first visit! There is so much to see and do!
The tennis complex is across the street and offers indoor and outdoor playing and lessons!
Soccer is a big deal in Baton Rouge and teams will be found playing almost year round on the fields in the park.
Little ones will enjoy the big playground nestled under huge oak trees!
The theater crowd will find productions throughout the year for both young and old at the Park Theatre!
Great place to spend the day. lots to learn in the gardens and of course in the library!
