I will make a point to eat at Inga’s while in the Baton Rouge area. My favorite is the steak sandwich which is their specialty. I have never tried anything else because I love this menu item so much! The menu is simple and the restaurant is not fancy. Stop here for a great sandwich, some chips, and a drink!

I went here once a year ago, and ordered their largest sub. Quality was average, but I found a wood chip or shard in the food. How? I had to pull it out from my bleeding gums. Nothing bad happened, but when I informed the staff, they denied having anything like wood near the food and questioned where the wooden shard had come from. My first impression was poor, so I doubt I’ll ever come here again.

Really great little business just off campus at LSU with great sandwiches. Service is at times very slow. I suggest calling ahead if you know what you want.

Among leaving the land of Tigers and tailgating, you find Inga’s near the North Gate’s of LSU and from the outside it looks like nothing more than a little sandwich shop that probably specializes in ham and cheese but fear not, this place is much more than the exterior façade. Oh fear not baby birds… I’ll feed you… The sandwiches crafted by Inga’s gives you a little more than you’d initially expect especially with being sandwiched(get it) between so many other restaurants in the area. The quality of sandwich and service far exceed expectations and for a two-man/woman show, the service and food measure up. I ordered the cajun turkey grilled and fully dressed and wasn’t disappointed at all. The meat was flavorful and well seasoned, the sandwich wasn’t hard on fixings and delivered just enough to compliment everything and work the entire sandwich out. Inga’s is a perfect place to run in and grab a quick bite for lunch or afternoon snack. The service was fast and the food was well worth the walk across campus. If you’ve got a few minutes in your day and you’re interested in a great lunch that’s not heavy and not pre-made, mass produced(cough, subway, cough), you should drop in at Inga’s for local, delicious fare.

Things have changed a bit since Miss Inga sold the place last year, but it’s still a solid place to get a sandwich! The steak on wheat with pepperjack, lettuce, and sweet and spicy peppers is where it’s at!

Pedestrian and mediocre but definitely not terrible. There are other better sandwich shops in town.

I like Inga’s, I really do. They make a damn tasty sandwich. But quantity is not their strongest suit. Call me crazy but I like a little sustenance on my sandwich. A 14″ sub sounds to be plenty filling, except when it’s made of air. I have eaten at Inga’s quite a few times, and every time wondering where my sandwich went and why I was still hungry. If you are looking to pay a little bit more for a good snack, then I recommend the Inga’s Best sub.

Inga’s was mentioned repeatedly when we asked for lunch recommendations near the LSU campus. We navigated to it and had an OK lunch. Said otherwise: in my humble opinion, the place was alright but nothing better than that. On the other hand, quite a few Unilocal reviews of Inga’s mention Subway as a competitor. That’s a good point! Faced with the choice of Inga’s and Subway, I’d go for Inga’s without hesitation. I ordered a regular(as opposed to giant) sandwich with various luncheon meats(was it the club or the super?), and asked for it fully dressed(with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, oregano, oil and vinegar). With a root beer and a bag of BBQ chips, the sandwich cost me $ 8.60. I thought that I’d gotten a fair deal and would be happy to come back any old time. Especially since Highland Coffees is right down the block!

I still rate this sandwich/salad shop as my favorite one. Mrs. Inga is so sweet and so nice and it shows through her food. She really cares about her customers. She sets high standards that her employees must meet. The service here is VERY prompt and super nice. The amount of customers they process for lunchtime into early afternoon is insane. Especially during a semester. I don’t know how they do it other than really good organization! You walk up to the register, look at the menu chaulkboard if you don’t know what you want, then place your order with the cashier, take your receipt, and wait till they call your number. When they call your number, you pick up your food on a plastic cafeteria type tray and grab your chips(that are on a rack near the pickup area), then fill your own drink at the soda machine(just like you would at BK or McD’s) then sit down at the small round tables that remind me of Coffee Call’s tables, and enjoy your meal! It’s that simple. Inga’s salads are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I can’t seem to put my finger on it what she does to make them so good. Been tryin to figure it out for years! I always get the Chef salad. It is made with rolled up swirled Cheeses and meats. It has turkey and ham, swiss and American processed VERY thinly sliced cheeses and meats. SO good!!! Then in the recent years, she has started adding pickled sliced banana peppers and I think pepperoncini’s, and thinly sliced(almost julienned) white onion. She also includes several thin slices of tomato. She always asks if you want oregano sprinkled on your salad and they always ask what type dressing, which I always get the red wine vinegar and oil. I don’t know what type of red wine vinegar and oil she’s using but it is SOGOOD! Awesome quality! The oil is not heavy, but light. The red wine vinegar tastes like a really good quality. Not too potent, but just right. The green lettuce is shredded Iceburg. That would probably be my only suggestion to her that she might want to change the way the lettuce is presented because it makes it a bit difficult to eat when it’s shredded. But I know she does that as a time saver for the sandwiches. The quality of meat and cheeses she uses are TOPNOTCH! I have NOTHING bad to say about that. I only wish I knew what type she used so I could buy some for sandwiches to make at home haha! Then again, she’d probably want me to come to her shop to eat! Great sandwich shop, uncomparable to the others. The sandwich bread is fresh fresh. The zapp’s chips are really great paired with a sandwich too. She serves fresh brewed Community brand Iced Tea(Sweet and Unsweetened). I usually don’t get the sweet because at other places it’s usually too sweet. At Inga’s, however, it is perfect. Not too sweet, but just right. Really great shop for lunch! The chicken Teriyaki bowls are SOOO good!!! She knows her business! She knows her customers. She knows her stuff. two thumbs up! Keep it goin Inga! We love you!!! She’s open till 9 p. m too.

This place has good subs for a reasonable price. I love the cajun turkey! And the zapp’s chips are a good pairing. The service is always good and fast. They also do salads and teriyaki veggie bowls or chicken bowls with rice.

This is, by far, my favorite sandwich shop. Everything I’ve tried is good! The service is always good & fast — perfect for a quick lunch break between classes, especially if you call & order it in advance. My personal favorite is the chicken & vegetable teriaki bowl.

I enjoy Inga’s, and I am glad that there are still good sandwich shops that thrive and prosper while others choose the mediocrity of Subway. Inga’s seceded from Blimpie’s in that Inga formed her sandwich shop after ending her franchise agreement with Blimpie. I find the Cajun turkey sandwich to be among the best, certainly something few, if any, sandwich shops carry, even in South Louisiana! Inga’s is a hole-in-the-wall and certainly doesn’t have some of the gimmicky stuff that a Subway or even Quizno’s has. There is plenty of local fare – you can certainly get Zapp’s chips to go with your meal, and the selection of drinks range from your typical Coke fountain products to bottled drinks, like Vitamin Water and Powerade. All in all, it’s a good place. Price-wise, it’s closer to Quizno’s than Subway, but it’s well worth it! I recommend the Inga’s on State Street or Brightside or the similarly-styled Faye’s on 3rd Street in downtown Baton Rouge.

I used to live on Inga’s alone for a while. Back in my crazy broke college days in Baton Rouge, I literally got the same sandwich almost every day. I now live in New Orleans and would very much like to know where I can locate a Cajun turkey, pepper jack po-boy on such fresh bread? The staff is usually very friendly, I suppose that’s a given if you are in there almost every day. It’s spacious inside and the lighting is bright. This makes a huge difference compared to Subway, where it always smells the same and the walls are a dingy yellow. For all these reasons, Inga’s is still my go-to lunch place on a busy day in Baton Rouge. It lifts my spirits as well as satisfying both my hunger and my taste buds!

Veggie burger sub is just great. I only order one thing when I’m at Inga’s: the Veggie Burger sub, fully dressed with everything conceivable on it. I’m definitely an omnivore but for some reason really just love these veggie burgers. I’ve had other items from their menu and like those as well, but stick to the usual(unusual for me as I like to order something different when I visit restaurants). The line is way too long and the service I think slow. The setup of the place adds to the long line and cramped feel, but they’re in a dump of a building with few options so just suck it up and expect a really decent sandwich in a somewhat chaotic atmosphere. People rave about their potato salad but I must say I’m not a fan. But otherwise, order at Inga’s and I think you’lll be happy.

So, I would suggest Inga’s if: –You are considering getting Subway –You enjoy Steak Sandwiches –Sometimes like teriyaki chicken. The salads are nothing special, but the sandwiches are way better than anything else I’ve had around these parts.

My good friend worked here for something like a decade so I used to come in often to say hi. He knew his stuff, as did the other sandwich makers there. The service was always very fast and almost never wrong. Inga is nice when she has time to speak to anyone, and the pictures on the walls are nice local fare. This is a sandwich shop, though, so don’t expect great food, and don’t expect great atmosphere. Personally I like the place better before they had to move to the new location, but still, it’s laid-back when it’s not during the rush hours. Much preferred to Blimpies or Subway, you’ll feel less rushed and probably enjoy the experience a little more.

I used to frequent Inga’s when it was still operated as Blimpie’s with my Bernardo who showed me the way by letting me take the bite of his steak sandwich with extra mayo. With limited days I spend in Baton Rouge nowadays, it is so hard to squeeze in the Inga’s subs when there are so many other obligatory, memory-lane stops we need to make. Quite a shame.

I had heard peolpe rant and rave about the salads at inga’s, and at the time I lived only a block away. I was on a diet, and a chicken salad sounded liek the perfect thing to eat so I decided to try this establishment. I expected the place to be trend from what I heard about it. It wasn’t, but so what, some of the best places I’ve been to are real dives. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. What I got was a paper plate covered in iceburg lettuce, a couple of small pieces of grilled frozen chicken breasts and a tube of kraft ranch dressing. I asked for another dressing and all they had was blue chesse.

Love, love, love Inga’s! Don’t be tempted to go to the Subway on E. State! Walk twenty feet, get a better sandwich, and give your money to a wonderful local business. Would eat there about once a week while I was at LSU. These subs(not to be confused with poboys) are fresh and filling. Get it fully dressed– the combination of oil, red wine vinegar, and herbs is perfection. Beware though, if you go at noon during the semester it will be packed. So packed. Try going a little before or after lunch. Or go for dinner, they’re open until about 9? They also have a great veggie patty, fresh teriyaki stir-fry, and(packaged) ramen noodles for variety. If the weather is nice, get your sandwich to go and have a picnic on the parade grounds! If you’re having trouble finding parking, there is a small private lot behind Inga’s. It’s only about five spaces but you can usually find a spot if it isn’t rush hour. Inga also recently opened a second location right in the middle of all the collegey apt. complexes on Brightside. This location is open on Sundays and keeps later hours than the Chimes shop.

Great place for a good sandwich. Everything’s fresh and delicious. Zapp’s chips on the side and I’m a happy guy.
