The team at LSU really know how to take care of you most precious family members. I saw Dr. Nancy Welborn last year for my cat, Reese. She immediately made poor Reese feel better. The Technician Jonesha gave sub Q fluids and it was only a matter of hours that Reese cat was back to her old self. Kuddos LSU!

This state of the art facility and the love and skilled hands of many doctors, surgeons, students, and others alike guided under the expertise of Dr. Andrea Dedeaux from the Internal Medicine department saved my dog’s life. I have been to plenty of vets and specialists before I brought Stump, my 5 year old Newfoundland/​Pyrenees mix here. Dr. Dedeaux offered hope for a longstanding problem that made my dog immobile. Stump has had some very unique and rare problems, and would no longer be here nor healthy unless it was for their care and devotion. I read some other reviews on here, I was surprised but I would say some are misunderstood. To clarify, If I were to characterize the vet there I would say that yes — - part of the medical care is based on constantly doubting and questioning which may annoy the feeble-​minded… but this is a learning institute and nothing is simply taken for granted when they are diagnosing. For example, when my dog peed in the waiting room unexpectedly, the doc immediately took a urine sample without asking me (or charging I think) because it was out of the ordinary. They simply have good intuition to identify a solution and are not hesitant to use an expansive rolodex of vets in academia in different geographic areas to get the best care possible for your animal family. In re: expense: I didn’t particularly find the price too pricey… in the end you get what you pay for.
I truly couldn’t thank them enough.

I’m pretty unhappy with their service. We found that their prices for heartworm medication were below other retailers but trying to get a refill at this place takes forever. We brought our dog in 6 months ago, called to refill and found out there were no refills on the trifexis. They needed to call the doctor. Fine. That was 3 weeks ago. I’ve been calling twice a week for 3 weeks to pick up, and still nothing. I think we will be switching to a place that works better with us.

The level of care was fine but the prices are through the roof…

The LSU School of Veterinarian Medicine is exactly what it sounds like, but they also offer a top notch emergency clinic for pups, kitties and anything considered a small animal.
Personally, we had an adorable Boston Terrier really sick and in immense pain, so we rushed her to the clinic. We decided to call ahead which did make the process much faster once we arrived. As we went through the doors, a resident vet was immediately called as well as a vet in training to help with our beloved puppy. We went back almost as soon as we walked in which made us feel much more relieved. The resident vets as well as the ones in training were very nice but we felt they didn’t really listen to what we had to say. It made it difficult to explain the situation and made us feel as if they were stuck on their predisposed explanations. Either way they are doctors and are good at what they do cause she was doing much better before we left even though they never found they root cause for her pain.
As the other Unilocaler explained you can bet it wasn’t cheap, but the care, quickness and delicacy they handled our wittle wiggly itsy bitsy Bella bug Boston Terrier was top notch. On any other day we would of opted for a different clinic to save money, but in an emergency situation, you can’t beat the Vets here at LSU.

The emergency clinic here is great. They are open 24/​7, 365 days a week. We found a poor dog on our way back to Houston that had been run over and left to die on the freeway. Poor thing was so scared, she could barely walk! We picked her up and took her to the nearest emergency vet, which happened to be LSU. They gave her pain medication and IV to make the trip with us, so we could take her to our vet.
Now, like all emergency vets, it is a bit expensive – but the service is great. Everyone was very helpful and kind, be it the receptionist or the doctor or the vet tech.
