I would like to begin by saying that I joined Unilocal for the sole purpose of writing a review for Southgate Towers. While in the so-called computer room, I overheard one of the managers ask someone to write a good review for them on Unilocal. In return they gave them a gift card to a well known café worth ten dollars. If you read a good review about Southgate Towers, do not believe it. To keep the list short, the apartments are heavily restricted, there is no water pressure, the management is poorly executed, the parking garage is extremely dangerous, and nothing has changed in years. All the while, the rent keeps increasing. The only redeeming qualities are the fact that it is close to LSU and some of the maintenance workers are genuinely good people. In fact, they deserve more recognition than they receive. In conclusion, take the molded exterior into account when you think about moving in to Southgate Towers.

I’ve lived here for about 8 months now, simply put, it is great. It isn’t cheap to live here, but you get what you pay for in security and service. You call the service team, it is fixed before you know it. The apartments are nice, you can’t beat concrete floors. You want $ 5 rent? Live in tigerland. You want to feel safe, have a good staff and a clean pool? This is your place.

I’ve lived here for two years now. The first year it was owned by a different management company and I did not know how great we had it. Everything is covered in garbage, probably because they lock the garbage chutes without telling anyone. The«security» gates are always broken. They refuse to allow UPS, FEDEX to deliver to your apartment, and when you go to the leasing office to ask for your packages they are always too busy to get them for you when they have not lost them. The staff wastes their time watching the camera feeds to catch dogs peeing on concrete when they could be delivering packages, cleaning the place, or fixing the parts that are falling apart. I was under the impression those cameras were put in for security, not to spy on residents. The elevators and outdoor areas are full of garbage, and there are dead fish around the koi pond in the zen garden. The other day, there was a mouse in one of the buildings. This management company is horrible and is turning what used to be a really nice place to live(allow noisy) into a place I would not wish on my worst enemy.

Place is a joke. Good location, looks great online, do not be fooled. Units are outdated and rent still increases. Staff is horrendous and incompetent. Hallways are constantly littered with trash and animal waste. Private garage is always broken. Doors that require a fob to get in are always broken. Always loud. Do not waste your $.
