I was lured in by the check-​in deal and the many 5-​star reviews. The session did not live up to expectations. The environment was cramped, strangely decorated with many «fancy» items and furniture too large for the space. Therapist didn’t seem to have a feel for the work. She seemed distracted, worried or nervous. It felt like she was just leaning into my upper back, pinning me to the table towards the end. She made an awkward and unprofessional request for feedback after the massage and before payment. I’ve been getting massages at least monthly for nearly 10 years. My session here was in the top two worst of those hundreds of sessions. After this massage was the only time I’ve ever had the negative effects you hear about sometimes– whanging headache, nausea, body aches, ill feeling. I do not recommend this practitioner.

The best massage I’ve had by far. MAT really gets to know you and the causes of any issues you may be having. Taking that time to know ones ailments was just great. I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated after.

I have lived with chronic pain for over half of my life. Starting with the first massage, Mat — the Massage Therapist, will discuss what to expect from the massage and any problem areas you need her to concentrate on. The room, with its soothing waterfall feature and heated sheets, provides the perfect setting to allow you to unwind and relax. Mat also uses a special technique to work on any problem areas you may need her to work on. I have had a number of massages over the years and highly recommend The Uncommon Massage.

Because I have had many athletic injuries, I need to have a massage therapist who is well versed in many techniques, including myofascial release, and able to adapt as applicable .
This is the place to find the medical professional who knows the body, and the massage therapist with the techniques .
Mary Alice took my medical history and spent time discussing my needs. As the massage progressed, she checked in with me to ensure that my comfort was what I wanted it to be.
The room’s atmosphere is relaxing, and beyond comfortable .

I have had many massages in my lifetime, but none compared to The Uncommon Massage. First of all, the massage therapist and owner is a registered nurse. When I first went to her for a pre-​natal massage, this was a huge deal to me and has been ever since. The owner’s listening and communication skills far exceeded my expectations to focus the massage in the most needed places and with the right pressure. The environment of the room was incredibly relaxing, and I honestly felt right at home with the set-​up of everything I needed. I highly recommend The Uncommon Massage as the best massage practice in Baton Rouge and am so excited to hear the hours have opened up to fulltime, so I can go there more frequently. Outstanding professionalism. Mary Alice took time with my history, inquired about any physical concerns and then we decided on the best treatment plan for the massage. The massage was very relaxing and therapeutic. Everything surrounding customer comfort was addressed — from the warmth and temperature of the heated table, to warm packs, to choices of scents and music. The facilities were very nice and all needs are provided for. Her background in the medical field definitely shows in her ability to relax muscles! Mary Alice is a superior massage therapist — every bit as good as massages I’ve had from Canyon Ranch. Very reasonable pricing with so much care to every detail. Wonderful business providing wonderful service with integrity.
