I stopped into Toys r Us yesterday to pick up a bubble gun for an exercise I am doing with my niece. I knew they were my best bet to have what I needed. I also planned to peek at the other educational toys and just see what we might not have yet. This store is kept so neat and clean I always enjoy visiting it. I like how the toy sections are broken down into smaller areas making it easier to search different ways to play. For instance the«Make Believe» section for dress up, «Educational toys» and of course«Dolls» and such. As I was finishing up wandering around in the educational section an employee stopped by and asked if I was looking for anything special. I told him«As a matter of fact I am. I need a bubble gun!» He told me they were just setting up their summer toys and to come on with him. I wish I had gotten his name because he really was so kind and so helpful. He led us right to the bubble guns and carried on a great conversation while doing so. I liked that he made me feel like my business mattered to him. I saw him later on before we checked out and he again asked me had we found what we needed and asked if there was anything else he could do for us. AND he thanks us for coming in and invited us back. You do not always get that kindness in stores today and I can truly say it will make a difference in me coming a bit further out to his store to buy a toy when I need it… all because he was so kind! In this day and age when you can spend money on things in so many different places, it is nice to feel like you matter to a store and the only way you get that is through an employee like I had on this experience. Again, I wish I knew his name becasue he made the difference for me.

The employees that work the babies side are hit or miss. Some have been great others not so much. The big kids side, they might as well not have any employees. You can never find one to help and when you can they can’t answer any questions. There never seems to be more than two registers open. The stock seems to either be full or empty nothing in between. You would think a huge company like Toysrus would have better inventory management.

Stopped in search of little white sandals for my infant daughter, but the shoe area has about 5 options of shoes, no sandals, and several winter shoes. Why? It’s summer! Clearance selection is very slim, with everything still pretty pricey, and many outfits missing pieces. Two registers open, 6 people in line at each register. 15 mins in line for a set of headbands.

My Experience was quite good. I was able to find almost everything I wanted. The shelves were stocked about half way, so at first I was unable to find some of the thing I wanted. So, I asked an employee to go in back and he got me a huge variety of stuff to look at. So all in all it was clean and the employees were nice but seemed tired(which is understandable).

It’s a toy store. What bad things can you say about a toy store. Baton Rouge up until recently didn’t have a lot of what other major metropolitan areas have to offer. We should be happy we have this place here. The one cool thing I can say about this place first and foremost is that it’s open until 10pm! Not sure who thought of that idea, but it’s saved me a few times. On a hot summer day(which could be spring here too), this place is always a chilly 65 degrees inside. Just to go window shopping is nice on some days here. I’ve got a 6 yo boy. And I’m a electronics junky, so as my kid gets older we do stuff together so we go here and compromise on what he wants and what I want to do with him. We always find deals on things the store is closing out many times for 60 or 80% off. You just have to be patient and look, I find it more economical to shop here than at Wal-Mart. Don’t expect the staff to know anything about anything, you can’t expect a lot when going into any big box retail store. If you want great customer service, then go to Victoria’s Toy Station on Government or to Cullen’s Playland on Florida and Airline. They will give you the personal attention that the big stores(or online) don’t provide. As big box stores go, Toys R Us has a wide selection, it’s almost always clean, the store manager is almost always near the front of the store saying hello, and if you’re a smart shopper you can get in and out for very little money and still have a happy kid. I’m a fan, and I’ll always be a Toys R Us kid.

It’s great that they merged Toys R Us and Babiea R Us together. It’s awful how far out of town the store is located. It’s new and clean blah blah blah. I feel like the store is never stocked. They NEVER have anything that I need. If I ask for help, it’s pretty much just going to make me even more mad. Most of the employees have absolutely NOIDEA what’s going on. I mean, if you work in a certain section of the store, you should have knowledge about each item. Also, I really don’t think that they are so short on employees that they can only have 1 register open out of probably 20. Avoid and shop online at Amazon or something.
