Ahh, just what you want in a diner! Comfy, cozy, clean atmosphere, friendly waitresses who know the regulars and welcome the new comers. I especially appreciate that they are always friendly to my kiddos. Cinnamon rolls are my sosn’s favorite, my daughter and I always go for pancakes and sausage or a grilled ham and cheese. All around good solid diner food… though I do wish they were open for dinner too!

I had a good experience when I came in. It’s your standard breakfast joint. I am glad to have one close by.

Their Chicken Fried Steak was very good, not as good as Gravy in Portland but very good. The service was slow, I was sitting at the bar but had to ask for coffee refills. No one asked if I wanted more just kept passing me by. The coffee flavor was average, good enough to want more but not good enough to beg for it. I’d go again but if the service is a repeat performance, I’ll spend my money in a warmer atmosphere.

One of my favorite breakfast spots in the entire metro area. Fast service, enormous portions, and great prices. If you go during peak hours on a weekend, be prepared for a wait. They also make homemade pies and you can place orders for holiday occasions(pumpkin and marionberry are awesome).

Awesome breakfast items and large portions, not to mention friendly staff. I would have gave this place five stars, but the parking is so messy I had to drop a star. All and all a great place!

Fun place to eat. Atmosphere is great, everyone comes here. Makes you feel at home. Food is very large and feeling. Love the pine doors in the bathroom, and the pine arched ceiling. Just has a great feeling. My fav is the Farmers Omelet with gravy sauce, and potatoes mixed in it. Smile. Great comfort food, and atmosphere.

I recently went here a few times with a friend of mine, who has been telling about this place for years. The food was good(I got the chicken fried steak both times) the service was great. I drink a lot of coffee with my breakfast and both times my coffee cup never ran out. The second time I went there I got a side of sausage links. They were the best sausage links I have ever had! The prices were standard breakfast prices. They are a little out of the way for me, since I live in Vancouver. It took me around 30mins to get there. But I definitely will be coming back!

Love this restaurant, bright open space neat décor. Fabulous food, large portion always presented well. Sincere service and hospitality. Love the displays and sales of local knick knacks. Today I had their special Hawaiian omlet it was fabulous and their county potatoes are excellent.

Only eaten here for breakfast. Great portion sizes and it tasted great. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet and it was cooked properly and was huge, and had cjoices for my side roo. The service was excellent the first time we ate there, but the second time was horrible. The server never smiled, had to be hunted down to get a coffee refill and the check. He never checked on us after bringing our food. I was very disappointed because I had told the person I brought that the place was great, but because of the service that day, they will probably never return unfortunately. I will give them another shot before I find a new breakfast spot to make sure it is just a bad day for the staff and not something that is the norm.

Went there for Father’s Day lunch, the service was horrible, the hostess didn’t even fake a smile. Attempted to order the eggs benedict without ham, I am a vegetarian, and when I asked the waitress if she could substitute avocado her response was that they couldn’t because the special omelet of the day required avocado and they didn’t «want to run out» in case they needed it for someone(whoever that may/may not be) who might order the special at a later time. Maybe the waitresses at Hockinson Café should learn better customer service, seems to me the person sitting in front of them who is a PAYINGCUSTOMER should be a priority over the person who MAY come in later and MAY order the special. Pretty ridiculous.

I love this café! Down the street from where I live. Very convenient and an awesome place to enjoy a nice breakfast. My boyfriend and I haven’t gotten bad service yet. Coffee is always hot. Breakfast always tastes fresh and the prices are great. Great environment and it feels like once you go in, you’re part of their family. A great sit down restaurant, we haven’t been rushed out once, even when its busy. Always a pleasure to have breakfast here.

First impression, doesn’t look like a restaurant from the outside. I took a chance and entered, pleasingly happy once I was inside. Excellent diner, very helpful and attentive waitstaff, prices and food was great. I will be back!

Great service, large portions & consistently good food! The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is ok, better than the average café. The best place to eat in bg, i just wish they were open for dinner! ! There is often a short wait during the busy times — full of old timers who know good value, good food & friendly staff!

Definitely not 5 star worthy. And a 4 star would be if you showed up on a really good day. Although the food is good portions are huge. The waitresses are nice. The people that do the drinks and the bussing are not as nice as the servers. I do hate the wait and the parking here. But I’d you don’t mind a wait and a parking issue it’s a decent place for breakfast or lunch.

This café is such a pleasant place. Been coming here for years. I live 50 miles north and this is a must stop here café every time I visit my parents in BG. It’s a must stop for either breakfast, lunch or an early dinner. Staff is always pleasant, food is very good, and the pies are delicious. Highly recommend!!!

This place has the best Chicken Fried Steak in Clark County. Weekdays are best not as busy. Plan on waiting for a table on the weekends.

Do not look for this restaurant based on the old photo. The restaurant is completely brand-new and was very clean and well set up. Parking in the lot was tight, but there was ample on street parking. On a Saturday morning about 11:30AM we only had a 15 minute wait. I’ll be the first to admit that I love well-made food. With the Portland food scene I am quite spoiled. We’d been at a soccer game all morning and were wet and cold. We were in the mood for serious comfort food for brunch. After eating breakfast I would consider this restaurant to be at a level of a good diner. My breakfast order was two eggs over medium and hashbrowns with a side of a blueberry pancake. The eggs were almost over medium that had some runny white. The hashbrowns were plentiful and tasty. In fact I shared half of them with my sweetheart. The blueberry pancake was not only huge, which was unexpected, but quite tasty. It was my favorite part of the meal. My sweetheart’s order was for the French toast plate which came with eggs and sausage. He ordered his eggs over medium also. He said the sausage was pretty good, which for him is high acclaim. He thought the French toast was okay, but nothing to return specifically for. The food was abundant and fairly tasty. However, I agree with my sweetheart that this is not a restaurant we would return specifically to Battleground to visit. The people who were there at the restaurant and those who were waiting with us, were quite impressed with the quality of food and cleanliness of the restaurant.
