Went to the Lumber Baron last night at 7:45pm. There was going to be a group of around 25 of us for drinks and food. 5 of us arrived first. Before we could even advise that there would be a large group, a man came up and said, «We are seating these 4 a head of you and that’s it, we’re out of everything unless you’d like to stay around for scraps». Needless to say, we left. Seems a bar//restaurant would be a little more prepared for a Saturday nights business. Unsure how this place stays in business as they didn’t even seem that busy? Luckily, we found another great place at the Doubletree Hotel and had a terrific time there!

We had a great time here! We were at Stables, the cigar bar portion. Megan, the bartender was very nice and friendly. The drinks and cigars were reasonably priced. I had the Ripsaw IPA, one of their own brews. At $ 4 for a pint, it was well worth it. The Stables were actually formerly stables. Each stall was converted into lounge areas and one was furnished as a poker room. Great ventilation system, which is important for a cigar bar. The smoke was quickly pulled up by the ceiling fans and into the smoke eater. Special thanks to our server, Megan. Good luck in your studies at SVSU and thank you for a nice night out on our anniversary.

The service was excellent. We came in as a large group for a birthday on a Friday night. The waitress was always friendly and was able to bring us drinks quickly and keep us filled. The beer was good. I had the stout and thought it was good. I heard good comments from the rest of our group. It wasn’t really a drinking atmosphere. It’s definitely a place for family dinners or something. The food was awful. I ordered brisket and felt like it was dry and burnt. The presentation was disappointing because everything came in baskets and offered a cheap looking style. The bread rolls were seriously worse than what you may get at GFS. Portions seemed about right, though. Nobody in the group complained but it only took one person to hint of the food quality and it was like a waterfall of everyone else overwhelmingly agreeing. I would never go back for food.

I came here for the first time last week to attend a beer class. I had had high hopes for the event but left less than impressed. The dinner started 30 minutes late, the food was awful and the service was nonexistent. After dinner the beer and cheese pairing started which turned into a two hour nightmare as the service staff took forever to get the courses out. Perhaps they at not used to this type of event though because 2 servers for 60 people is nothing more than a recipe for disaster. The only beer of the entire night that was drinkable wasn’t even from their brewery but from Bell’s. Afterward we went downstairs to try and give the other section a chance but were met with the most standoffish bartender I’ve ever come across and more bad beer. To sum things up the place has potential but needs a TON of work, I for one will not be back anytime soon.

Nothing is good here. Food, beer, service, etc. Definitely don’t recommend coming here. They can’t keep one name and the owner does not know how to run a business. Has great potential but needs a better strategy.

Service is consistently atrocious. We went here for drinks and sat at the bar, and then it went downhill from there. Pretty sad that the staff complains that she’s so busy right in front of you(and this on a Tuesday night when it was pretty quiet). I would expect a Dore establishment to be better managed and have competent staff. Could be a great place, but like other reviews have consistently pointed out, the service is slow to nonexistent at best.

Big brewery and restaurant. Good beer! Smells like smokey BBQ. If I lived here I would spend lots off time here! Service at the bar was very poor however. I was the only person at the bar(5:00PM on a Saturday) and none of the 3 bartenders ever engaged with me except to give me one beer. I thought about walking out without paying for the lack of attention.
