The double oyster stew was the best that stew that I have ever had, but my wife said that the clam chowder was the best that she has ever had. We will return in May to try more.

Met some people who recommended this place highly while in town. We ordered clam chowder, a whole Dungeness crab, steamers and fried oysters. The chowder was ok though didn’t find much clam in it. The fried oysters were very heavily breaded and so highly seasoned the flavor of the oyster was non existent. The crab was good but the butter was so highly seasoned the crab flavor was lost. When we asked for plain butter it was much better. The steamers were also too highly seasoned and even cooked with too much onion for our taste.(We’d prefer no onion) Again no natural flavor of the clams came through. We enjoyed being able to see the oysters being processed and our servers were helpful and pleasant. Not enough to go back again though.

Hands down the second best seafood I’ve had on the Oregon Coast! The clam chowder was FULL of clams, not just little pieces, but decent sized chunks. It was not too buttery or greasy, but still a chowder, just right! I had the fish and chips which were rock fish, so good! No beer batter here, almost more of a breadcrumb and herb coating. Not greasy and the rock fish was light and flaky, much better than dense cod. Wife had the shrimp and crab melt, it was super rich! We left needing a nap but wanting to eat so much more! Don’t be put off by the fact that it’s an oyster processing plant, that just means it’s fresh! Don’t expect great service or a fine dining experience, but expect fresh fish and delicious food!

This is NOT my opinion regarding the Fish Peddler restaurant but rather the oysters packaged by them(Pacific Seafood) out of Bay City OR. and sold to local markets under the Searock label. Frankly these are the worst oysters I’ve ever experienced in my 40 years of adult life They were labeled«Pacific Oyster»(which they were not). I believe them to be what they refer to as an Olympia oyster. I bought 3 — 8oz jars; 2 of which contained 5 «petite» oysters; 1 contained 4 petite and 1 medium. When I removed them from the jars they were all as soft as gelatin. I pan fried them as always plain in olive oil over a medium heat, finished with butter and in the end I removed the entire contents of all 3 jars with one spatula no bigger than the palm of my hand. The taste was the worst ever. I actually worked at Steuarts Seafood(a seafood processor, with both a wholesale and retail division) in Everett before the company was purchased by Pacific Fish. I started off on the packing floor before becoming a delivery driver. My route in Seattle had an estimated 50 wholesale clients each day and included the best restaurants and grocers. My oldest friend was the fish buyer, a U of W fisheries major, and a classmate so I’m not exactly a «novice» when it comes to grading seafood and evaluating quality. I couldn’t even begin to recall my second worst experience but THIS product will forever be ingrained in my memory as the worst seafood product, the worst value, and the worst customer experience of all time. This is the first and likely only review I have, or ever will convey in this catagory but to say it was s*** would be a compliment. I wasn’t expecting the quality of a Willapoint, I would have accepted a(farm raised) Sea Pearl but in this case I would have sooner eaten the shells from either of those products before the product that came in YOUR jar.

Stopped by hear for some yummy sea critters while enjoying a January day with fantastic weather at the cost.(Sunny, 57, yeah!) Hubs had the shrimp and crab cakes; pretty good. A large side of fries with two fairly small cakes, but it was a special and not very expensive. There’s a lot of seafood in the cake, along with onion, roasted red pepper, etc. I had clam strips, which were nice, thick strips of clam(not the skinny little food service things you usually get) with great flavor. Their house tartar and cocktail sauces are both very tasty, so much that we picked up some of each along with some picked crab and a loaf of bread for making crab melts at home. Their fish counter is fresh, and what they have changes each day; we lamented no rock fish, but the guy at the counter assured us they’d have some tomorrow. Bummer for us. You can choose a table that looks out into their processing area if that floats your boat. Service was basic but good. It’s a cute little place, better than you expect as you turn off the road and drive down to the dock. Don’t worry, it’s not that dilapidated blue building thats first on the right. :)

Fantastic oysters! I’m from Colorado so I rarely get to eat such fresh oysters and now I think I’m spoiled for life. Amazing!

Biggest BIGGEST oysters I’ve ever had in life! Can I even say too big?! So big it takes three bites to eat them. Plus you’re not going find prices like this anywhere in Portland or Seattle. Take the trip, it’s so worth it.

Amazing food! Can’t believe we never came here in the 20+ years we came to the Oregon Coast around Tillamook… we had the clam chowder, which was great, cooked oysters on the half shell which were fresh and well done and the fish n chips. Also a IPA to wash it down. Also great location right on the Tillamook bay. Heard in the Summer it is very busy with 2 hr wait times so plan accordingly. Parking was also limited.

On a short vacation to the Oregon Coast the owner of the house we were staying in suggested this place so on our seafood night we headed over to visit. It was busy when we arrived which we took as a good sign. Since we decided to cook at the cabin we just wanted to get some crabs to go. We had heard that the Dungeness Crab was good here and that was what we were after. Everyone just kind of stands around at the front door and you’re not sure whether they are waiting for a table or for to do seafood, so you just stand there waiting for a clue. Eventually we figured out who was waiting for what. The staff, who seemed to have plenty of people, seemed overwhelmed and pardon the pun but they seemed a little crabby. The idiot customer in front of us didn’t help lighten the staff’s mood either, he was sour and demanding and kept changing his mind; so when we got up there the poor guy was just sort of trying to hold it together. When I asked him to shell the crab for us he just stared at us. For a long time. Finally another worker explained to him what we wanted and he popped the tops off those bad boys and rinsed out the icky stuff. The place in small but it has character and I am willing to say that every place is entitled to a bad day so on that note we will probably come back again and give them another shot. The amount of four and five star reviews tells me they know how to make it a better experience. Handicapped access gets a solid A. There is handicapped parking right at the front door and the entry is fairly level, easy for wheeled scooters and chairs. Once inside there is enough room to maneuver around.

Oyster stew was the best I’ve ever had. We also ordered the salmon and razor clams platter. The razor clams were fried in a heavy breading and were really chewy. Don’t order the razor clams platter.

So delicious. I usually don’t like large oysters but these were creamy and delicious. Raw oysters are not served on the shell but in plastic containers. It didn’t matter because they were tasty. We tried everything. Raw oysters, fried oysters, clam strips, calamari, fried halibut, crab cakes, chowder in bread bowl and house salad with shrimp. I personally enjoyed the raw oysters, chowder and shrimp salad the best.

I was kind of disappointed! Seafood at the Oregon coast. The raw oysters were fresh and amazing, but the cooked charbroiled oysters and other dishes were pretty subpar. Oyster chowder was watery with heavy cream and the cooked plain oysters tasted metallic-y. The Tillamook(hay Oregon) cheese on top of our charbroiled oysters solidified with bits of bacon that made it unappetizing. Clam chowder was good, but not the best I’ve had. Great service though, the waitress was charming our pants off. I don’t think anything can top charbroiled oysters I’ve had in nawlins! #sorrynotsorry

Biggest oysters Ive ever had, according to waitress I only got the small. Anyway ordered dozen raw oysters and oyster stew, it was way too much. Price was very reasonable it was only $ 26. Waitress was extremely nice and helpful since I only ate half of what I ordered she packed the leftovers in ice.

This is the best seafood in area. Oysters are a must, they were very good and very local. I had fish & chips nothing to write home about. Clam chowder was excellent as well as the seafood soup. Our waiter was very funny and quick whit. He was tall black hair and glasses.

The best seafood we had on our Oregon Coast trip! Our party tried a little of everything: Clam Chowder, Cioppino, Oregon Bay Shrimp Cocktail, Sauteed Prawns, Captains Plate(Fried Clam Strips, Fried Oysters, Fried Prawns, Crab Cake, Fried Cod, Roasted Potatoes and Zucchini), and Baked Oysters. Even the salads were great. all Romaine lettuce. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend are the Baked Oysters unless you love oysters… they weren’t done enough for me… rather large and intensely flavored… very high quality though! I would highly recommend the Cioppino, Chowder, and Clam Strips. All seafood is hand breaded… just fabulous!

This is my favorite restaurant on the entire Northern Coast. It’s my first 5 star too! Think of it as a Seafood Café. If you’re looking for fine dining, you’re not going to find it. If you’re looking for an AMAZINGVIEW and fair prices for fantastic oyster stew, clam chowder, bread bowls, and OMG the oyster plates, you’re in the right place. There are various all you can eat deals on different days, and you can add extra oysters to the stew, it’s an all around great deal, and OMG that clam chowder tho! If you’re looking for fresh oysters, you can even walk towards the back of the restaurant and watch employees shuck them.

We stopped here for dinner on the way back from the coast to Portland. The place is quite easy to miss – it is a right turn(off 101) almost immediately after you see the sign«Entering Bay City.» The ambiance is quite modest but the food is good. We over-ordered because we had not eaten since breakfast and because we underestimated the size of the portions. We started with a bowl of the clam chowder – it was thick and rich and delicious. Tons of clams and other stuff, great flavor and very filling(a steal at $ 6.50). We could have stopped there. But no, we proceeded to overeat because that is what Americans do. We also ordered the Tillamook oysters(6 for $ 12.95). They come with bacon, sharp cheese, and onion on the oysters. The cheese overpowered the oysters, although they were quite large, so it was not our favorite dish. I would not order them again. The main entrée and special treat was a whole crab for each of us. They are $ 12.99 a pound and ours were two pounds. They come steamed and split open, with the lungs and insides removed. There was a lot of meat! We picked and opened for a good 30 minutes. The crab was fresh and absolutely delicious. The meal was not cheap, came to about $ 100 for two with tip, but it was a special treat because we can’t get fresh, and I mean fresh, crab in Dallas. We departed happy with bulging stomachs. It was all great fun. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting fresh seafood. A tip: if you sit off the side you can see the workers cleaning the crabs and oysters through large windows. That’s how fresh it is.

Best fresh oysters I’ve ever had! This place is about 5 miles north of the Tillamook cheese factory. Found it on Unilocal and decided to try based on the reviews. So glad we did! Besides the dozen oysters we ordered, we also got the shrimp sautéed with butter and wine(great!) and a clam chowder bread bowl(also the I’ve ever had) Service was great! There are picnic tables to sit outside on a nice day.

This is the place I compare all clam chowders to and NO one can beat them! They have the BEST clam chowder bare none, and I have tried them all up and down the coast . I recently went there for my birthday. Beach trip made perfect by getting the best meal ever. And when they found out it was my birthday I got a big discount too! Great service too. Thanks for my birthday present!
