Just went there to eat and it was amazing! i had a gyro which oddly enough didnt have any lettuce, but they totally redeemed themselves by STACKINGUP the meat on it. it was the most meat I’ve seen on a gyro in ages and i actually could not finish it. Two thumbs up! the only reason i left out a star is because i wish they had a nicer eating area. but food wise amazzzzing!

My family orders takeout from here about twice a month and it’s consistently good. Platters are nice portions and I’ve never had an issue with freshness.

I tried this the other night and everyone I was with agreed that the food was not very fresh and the portions were quite small. I usually get a large greek salad with gyro meat and the meat it came with didn’t seem as fresh as other places, and the lettuce and other ingredients weren’t up to par either. I’m not going to be going back here anytime soon.

Been here several times on my lunch break and I’m never disappointed. Falafel is off the hook amazing and portions are huge. Authentic Mediterranean cuisine that couldn’t be better.

Had a falafel dinner platter here and enjoyed every morsel. Been hunting for a Greek restaurant for a long time since moving into Islip. Now I’ve found one, but unfortunately, they don’t deliver. Heck, it’s nearby, so I can’t complain. ‘Nuff said. I’ll try the other stuff and give you a better review next time.

Updating my review because Ive been coming here for years now. order from here at least 3 times a week. This place is going downhill chickens been fatty(saw a hair in it) salads are soggy and they keep messing up my orders! On top of it they have attitudes go elsewhere.

I love this little spot. I was visiting Bay Shore to help a relative move, and spent a few days there. I was eager to eat at several Unilocal-worthy places during my stay, but I ended up burning through every lunch at this place right around the corner. Cheap, fresh, and delicious Mediterranean offerings. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to try anything except for the Falafel, because I was so hooked that I ate it a few days in a row. In fact, it was the last thing I ate before departing Long Island. It’s a tiny take out place, and you can see that they have a solid following of regulars stopping in to pick up their orders. First-name-basis type of stuff. Service was very friendly and prompt while we were there, and they even gave us samples of their soup(which was stellar) while we waited for our lunch to be prepared. If I lived in the area I would be grabbing lunch here at least a few days per week.

Usually my go to place for Mediterranean. Went on Friday and was competent disappointed in the Greek salad which is usually very good. The lettuce was very soggy due to too much dressing and some of the chicken was dry. Sooo many red onions on it that I had to pick them off the salad it was so overwhelming that the entire salad tastes like them. Maybe it was a bad night but a simple take out salad that is sort of the thing they do shouldn’t have been this hard to do.

Decent Greek take out place. Service is a bit slow because it’s often busy so it’s best to order ahead. They have minimal space inside to eat if you want to stick around but come lunch and dinner time it gets packed inside. Gyros are pretty good but the lemon and lentil soups are a bit on the salty side. It’s a good place to order take out if you’re craving a gyro.

Very good food! Everything we’ve tried on the menu we have liked. Call your order in ahead of picking it up b/c ordering onsite takes much longer.

Everything is homemade and fresh! Im got a falafel sandwich aka gyro and it was amazing. It had fresh ingredients. I got it to go because I work at a local hospital near by but when opening the foil I was greeted with an amazing«salad» on top and was pleased with the dressing. This was filling and delicious! I highly recommend this to anyone interested in greek food or even quick delicious food. It was around 7.35 but it was a high quality meal.

Only giving this place the 2nd and 3rd star from my past experiences. This time only really warrants 1 star. Literally every time we visit my grandmother on the eastern end of LI, we order from Mediterranean Express for their amazing Greek Salad and dressing for dinner. So disappointed with our salads tonight. My uncle ordered our usual large Greek salads. What we got were two pieces of tomatoe, a dash of dressing, no grape leaves and wilted lettuce. Not to mention that the olives tasted like dishwater and they must have run out of their signature salad dressing. And to add insult to injury, my uncle was told that if we wanted to put the chicken that comes in the salad on the side instead, it would cost $ 6 to do so… you’ve got to be kidding. Not sure what exactly happened but I’m not sure if we will patronize this place ever again. Probably best to stick with our beloved Avli.

Was in the mood for Greek food on the way home from out East, looked on Unilocal and found this place. It’s takeout with a few tables. We ordered gyro and chicken gyro platters and grabbed a table. First came Greek salads and Pita, both very good. Then came the gyros. Honestly some of the best we’ve had. If you are looking for an inexpensive takeout or quick bite, you can’t go wrong here.

Passed this place for years and only recently decided to go in and try it… since then I’ve been back nearly half a dozen times. The food is always fresh, hot and extremely scrumptious! I normally get the chicken souvlaki without the vinaigrette(which is amazing btw!) because I prefer to drench it in their yummy yogurt sauce. I could honestly guzzle that stuff by the gallon! It isn’t runny and isn’t too thick, it’s just right… goldilocks style!!! :-) The other gem here is their greek salad! The feta isn’t overpowering, but also isn’t bland or tasteless like it tends to be at many places when it isn’t overly strong. The dressing is the same way. The perfect compliment to the fresh ingredients they use and not overdone. My girlfriend got a gyro platter last time and the lamb was fresh and crisped on one side just the way we both like it! Yes, I ate almost all of her platter because I’m a glutton. But she still loves me anyway. The rice that came with it was seasoned tastily and very moist. The portions are generous for the price as well. Staff is extremely friendly and courteous as well. I had to take a phone call one day while waiting for my order and instead of letting my food languish on the counter, the young woman behind the counter kindly brought it outside to me when it was ready, which I appreciated greatly. There are a few tables inside as well if you’re looking to stay, which I recommend because the food comes out of the kitchen piping hot! I’m so hungry just thinking about this place after writing this review that I’m headed there right now to stuff my face lol. Do yourself a favor and check it out if you’re in the area and have a hankering for some Greek food. It’s well worth it!

Truly love this place! Have been eating their food since they used to have the old restaurant Aegean east, it was delicious and the food here at this spot is equally amazing. Have known the owners forever and they are so awesome, friendly, and great cooks ! Elaina makes the most amazing split pea, potato dill, Yankee bean, and avgolemono ! Try them all(all soups aren’t listed above those are just some of my personal favorites) I usually call before to see what soups they have so I can plan what else to order along with it. Also, the spanikopita here… To die for… Creamy deliciousness spinach mixture stuffed in phyllo dough flaking everywhere omg. I’m marrying a Greek and he’s been around the real deal Greek food his whole life, he loves the food here. I highly recommend ! Strictly take out unless you are dining with 1 or 2 people. They have 4 tables inside with 3 seats at each table and a waiting bench… Reasonable prices as well.

Very fresh made and tasty. Good place for lunch instead of the fast food places. Service is always with a smile and patience as she will describe something to you if you’re unfamiliar. Can’t go wrong. Eat local if you can.

Mediterranean Express takeout has been going strong in the area for at least 10 years. The menu hasn’t changed much in that time, which the exception of normal price increases. Looks to be family run, staff is always friendly and accurate with orders. They offer solid gyros stuffed to capacity. Meat can be a bit dry so the fresh, creamy tzatzki sauce is always a welcome accompaniment. They unfortunately do not offer chicken gyro meat so I opted for the soluvaki instead. Hummus is good but could use a bit more garlic(what couldn’t?!). They’re inconsistent with the falafel. While always flavorful and balanced spice-wise…Sometimes, they’re sort of hard and chewy. Sometimes they are over fried… and sometimes they are just perfect. It’s a gamble. Baklava is the best you can get without trekking to Astoria.
