South Cove Stadium 12

After three years, I’m going to bump this up one star. It’s not like the newer theaters with the lazy boy, love seats with waiter service or being able to eat your dinner while watching a movie. But considering the price and other options at this theater, and compared to other theaters (new, renovated, or just plain garbage), this theater provides the most bang for your buck.
Yes it’s not a modern theater but the regular ticket price is not that bad. Plus you got other options like matinée showings, first movie of the day showing, and Tightwad Tuesday, you can’t beat that. Plus theres plenty of seats after the first week (sometimes second week) the movies are out. Also plenty of parking and the light rail is a 10 minute walk. And it’s as clean as it gets, cleaner compared to other theaters.
Only problem here is the food: ITS TOO DAMM EXPENSIVE!!! Plus all you got here is basically popcorn and nachos and $ 5 water. Luckily there’s DD, Wendy’s, the Japanese restaurant, and Houlihans nearby.

It’s insanely hot in this theatre. I will never come here again! AC doesn’t work in the middle of June. Just terrible…

South cove is my go to theater since it is the closest to my home. If I wanted to be picky, I probably wouldn’t go here because again I’ve been spoiled by the recliners that have replaced the basic seatings in various theaters. What I do like about this location is that it’s very quiet and not crowded. This is the theater you want to attend when there’s an opening night for a new blockbuster release. You won’t have a problem getting a seat.
I came here on a Tuesday and let me tell you this is the best day to come. The lines are short and the tickets are only $ 6! Not to mention, the medium size popcorn is under $ 3! You get the most bang for your buck. The staff is super friendly and they were the ones that recommended the medium size popcorn because it’s cheaper than the small on a Tuesday’s promotion. This theater is located in a mini shopping mall so there’s plenty of parking space. My only con is that it was super dirty. I guess they didn’t have time to clean the theaters often. There were popcorn all over my aisle.
Overall, I’d still come here for a quick showing.

Not that crowed seats are a little rough but good place to watch a movie with not to many people. Overall good place.

Watched Star Wars on 12:30pm Sat showing and I was the only one in the theater, so awesome! Yes it might be because it’s been out for almost 4 months and I could’ve probably just waited for the Blu-​ray but nothing beats the big screen.
Friendly and family atmosphere. Staff is nice and does a good job keeping the place clean. The theater seats could use a thorough cleaning or replacement especially the middle sweet spots. And avoid teenagers and their parents. Use Google to pick the best time to go watch a movie.

I actually like this theater, but for the past 3 – 4 weeks they don’t seem to have this important thing called heat. During StarWars it was so cold everyone kept their jackets and gloves on.
My parents have gone there two times in the past 2 weeks to find the movie they were going to see was being shown in a room that would not have heat. I’m not sure if the entire theater doesn’t have heat, or just my parents luck that both movies in that specific showroom.
I’m a little baffled with how the heat couldn’t be fixed in that many weeks. I hope there aren’t other problems (financial) where this theater is not doing well so they can’t afford to heat it, or fix the system.

Now talk about a very low key theater. I usually go to high end theaters since I have to admit I could be a snob when it comes to theaters since I love movies so much. A friend suggested we come here so I gave in, since it was a weekday and it wasn’t busy you just walk to the concession stand to purchase your movie tickets and buy your food at the same time. They still have some of the old candy which I loved since most theaters now days sell stuff I don’t like.
The place was clean and the chairs were comfortable so I have to say I’m a fan of this neighborhood theater.

I must have come on the wrong day because the theater was filthy for me and my kids. It wasn’t cleaned after earlier showing I guess. The theater has a lot of promise though with a Houlihan’s right outside you could make a day out of it. Sadly the residents of this town don’t support their local businesses and would rather travel out of town instead of looking in their own backyard. I’ll give the theatre a tear under the new ownership before it becomes another Bayonne casualty

Good theatre to go to. Will definitely go again. Plus, it is in a good location and you have your choice of restaurants before or after the movie.

Fair prices, modest space. And matinée deals are very well priced. Although their cooked snack selections weren’t the greatest; I’ll admit it was worth the early deals.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this theater! I don’t know why it gets such terrible reviews. It’s a bit retro and a throwback to the 90s style of theaters — most likely meaning it needs an upgrade. However, it was clean and had plentiful parking. Staff were nice, bathrooms perfect. Theater was mostly empty but nearby to some great shopping. I can’t wait to go back here & I was super excited to see they have discounted $ 6 Tuesday’s if I remember correctly. Go see for yourself!

I think some reviewers are exceptionally tough on this theater and it’s not entirely fair. The movie prices are very reasonable. They have a deal with some of the surrounding restaurants where you can get a seat for $ 8.50 if you eat dinner there. We did this at the sushi place across the parking lot and it seemed worth it. The theater has a decent movie selection and if you live in Bayonne it probably makes sense to come here first particularly if you don’t feel like driving. My major gripe is with the seats. They are not terrible but they are not great. Kerasotes in Secaucus has these pretty great recliners that really kind of puts these seats to shame. That said Frank’s is definitely cheaper and it’s local for me. I wouldn’t drive out of my way to come here but if you’re in town and want to watch a movie I wouldn’t pass it up.

Other than a big screen and theater, there is nothing decent about this place.
Cons:
1. Rude people
2. Beware of ENTIRE families with their ENTIRE clan of young kids who don’t know how to behave.
3. Losers who come to the theater and shine red laser pointers at the screen throughout the entire movie.
4. Dirty seats, floors, smelly all over
5. The speakers are either WAY too loud or WAY too soft.
6. The kicker — Pricier tickets than the brand new made over Scaucus Kerasotes
Bottom Line — Will never come here again due to the aforementioned.

Movie theatre is on the small side BUT it still has better selection than most of the others in the area. Even if a movie is on just 1 screen they seem to make up for it with multiple showings. Price range is on par with the other theaters $ 11.50 for adults. They do have Surround Sound seats which is cool depending on what movie you’re seeing. (they tend to make those seats available for action packed movies like transformers etc) and of course they’re extra $.
Their tiny arcade section has more claw games than arcade games which is a joke.
Food court is overpriced. 2 nachos and 2 medium drinks, $ 25! So I’m spending more on eating than on what I really came in for lol. Ridiculous. I was rating it a 4 but realizing what I just typed I gotta knock it down a notch.

Very nice theater. Clean, comfortable seating, good screens and great sound system. Reasonably priced at $ 11 a ticket. My new go to theater in the area.

I discovered Ridgefield recently. I’ll drive there and sprawl on a recliner for my occasional movie. Ridgefield has ruined all other movie theaters.
Small screens. Poor sound system. Not Fandango compatible. AND TEENAGERS, please get jobs.

Note– i literally only watch one movie per fiscal quarter, I want Ridgefield. GIVE ME MY RECLINER.

Tuesday all day all night $ 6 movies — great deal. However don’t expect ANY service since the place is run by kids who spend their time laughing & playing on their phones. No ticket booth operating you have to buy your tickets from the kids at the concession counter. Finally, bathrooms horrible. Only two sinks and one hand dryer work in the ladies room.

Some of the key factors why I love this theater:
* Only a mile or so away from home.
* Stadium seating
* Good Nachos
* Houlihans, TGI Fridays & Longhorn within the same complex
This is my local go to theater when I just want to stay close to home on a lazy Sunday. The tickets are cheaper than all other surrounding theaters. It is cleaner than most surrounding theaters and less crowded. I love their Nachos, which are rounds corn chips with the cheese wiz type fake cheese that comes out of a machine. It’s not for the faint of heart. But it take me back to my childhood. The seats are comfortable and the crowd is usually not noisy or rowdy.
They have a theater equipped with 2 rows of D-​Box seats, which are programmed simulated seats that move according to the action sequences on the movie screen. I haven’y had a chance to try them as they are $ 19 a ticket. But they have 2 demo seats in the lobby to try out. You be the judge if it’s worth it.
The staff is friendly and the popcorn taste fresh. Overall a great local theater.

It’s not until you go to theaters in NYC or other urban cities that you realize that this theater is awesome.
1. It’s huge. The screens are big, ample seating, and it’s never super crowded
2. Tickets aren’t $ 15. Seriously, $ 11 for a movie is a steal.
3. Cheesy powder you can put on your popcorn? Yes, please.
4. The staff isn’t super fussy and don’t usually check your bags for outside food. I mean, not that you’d do that, right?
5. They have churros. Stale and kind of greasy, but they’re still churros.

I won’t go into price, as most theaters are overpriced, but for about $ 11/​ticket (for regular, non D box seats), you get a clean theater to watch movies in.
I don’t frequent movie theaters as often as most as I find that some theaters can get really gross. Fortunately, there’s this place. Free parking and a clean theater, you’ve won me over. Also, they have D Box seats — not that they particularly had me jumping out of my seat about the news, but a cool option, nonetheless.
