I felt this park was slightly confusing. I went running with my dog and followed the trails to the north, and realized they didn’t loop around. Then we went back and went straight and kept straight, to find ourselves over a bridge and nowhere near a lake. I used my phone like crazy to try to find the lake but kept winding up at dead end fences everywhere. Still not sure where I made a wrong turn because I tried everything, even the broken fence trail and wound up in a neighborhood. Overall it’s a nice walk but I like seeing a lake or anything after a long run or walk.

It’s nice to have walking paths so close to home. They have a few different paths you can choose, all color-coded, easy to find on the trees, and there’s a list of the length of each path on a board right when you pull up. My dog loves it too. The only downfall is the parking. Sometimes, especially on a beautiful weekend, you will have to park in the street or down near the residential area because there’s only about 5 – 6 parking spots. But that’s only happened to me once the several times I’ve been there. Still a great place, especially during the fall with all of the foliage change.

I’ve lived in bayport for over a year and had no idea that this place existed until one day I was riding past on my mountain bike. WOW what a hidden treasure. There are several miles of walking trails and some good mountain biking trails as well. Very scenic, and very well preserved and clean. What a great find!

I’ve gotten lost in San Souci County Park! Although it seems small, it’s a beautiful place with many trails. And it’s dog-friendly — or as we might put it, Max-approved! The only ‘official’ parking is a lot off Broadway Ave. It is small(maybe 10 cars) and it gets crowded at peak walking/hiking times — Sunday afternoon, for example. But once your car is turned off, you have cell coverage throughout … so you’re never really lost.
