Delicious authentic Colombian food! Reasonable prices! The best thing on the menu is their Tilapia with Shrimp. It’s sautéed in a delicious garlic cream sauce and comes with two tilapia filets and tons of shrimp, salad, rice and French fries for 18 bucks! Their batidos(shakes) are really good– try the passion fruit or soursop flavor with milk! Definitely a must try spot on Bell Blvd!

Overpriced and food is just not very good. Should have checked Unilocal before I walked in but I was in the area and curious. Won’t be back.

A Colombian here talking about how this food doesn’t taste much like Colombian food. The customer service is okay… The food is mediocre.

I usually don’t do reviews unless it’s really good or really bad. In this case, I just had to. Whoever is thinking of ordering from here, listen to the other Unilocalers and don’t waste your time, specially if you’re getting delivery. I ordered a fried whole snapper with fried green plantains, and it was so disappointing.(BEARINMIND I PAID $ 27FORTHIS.) Ok, here we go: I asked to substitute the white rice it comes with for a few more green plantains instead. Well, I didn’t get the rice and the plantains were very few. Granted they were large and very well fried, nice and golden brown but so very few given I declined the rice. The plantains, as well as the fish, all came in bags. YESSSBAGS! Not plates, not aluminum, plastic or Styrofoam containers, BAGS! Considering how much they charged for the order you would think it would come a little more presentable. Instead, we go aluminum/cardboard bags, and the fish was double bagged because it was too long for the bag. The fish tasted raw, the limes/lemons I asked for on the side were not included, and there were no napkins, plates, nothing. Over all, it took them an hour to bring the food, it was not very seasoned, not decently packaged, overpriced. Just so not worth it. If you’re going to eat from here, I suggest you eat AT the restaurant so you have a little more control of your order, but I for one, will NOT order from here again.

Here’s an old review I forgot to post. Overall, pretty disappointing. They intentionally over charged me… I think. I went in to order take out. The young lady behind the counter was nice and helpful. I ordered chicken and rice and was told my bill was $ 12… so I paid $ 12. I thought it was odd my bill was an even $ 12 but I didn’t think about it too long. While waiting for the food to be prepared I passed the time looking through the menu. I noticed my dish was $ 9.50. I wondered, why did I pay $ 12 for a $ 9.50 dish… so I asked. They told me «tax». I said tax is less than $ 1.00. The young lady consulted with who I presume was a manager and then she gave me $ 0.50. When I asked about the rest of the money she printed my receipt, handed it to me and told me they charge for containers(this made me realize i never got a receipt after I paid). Sure enough there was a $ 1.00 container charge. They charge $ 0.25 and $ 0.50 for containers(small and large respectively). My order had 1 small and 1 large container for $ 1.00. You do the math. Arroz con Pollo $ 9.50 Container $ 1.00 Tax $ 0.93 Total: $ 11.43 Now I know why I got $ 0.50 back. Earlier I said the intentionally overcharged me. Forget the container overcharge… how do you«accidentally charge $ 12 when the bill should be $ 11.43? I guess rounding up is the new thing to do. :) Irritating. The food’s not bad… smells great. Flavor was OK but needed salt. All I’m saying is don’t cheat your customers.

I’m glad that I didn’t get anything beyond an appetizer at Mr. Pollo, because my experience there was disappointing: mediocre service and too-heavy food. Here’s a walkthrough of what I encountered there: The door into the restaurant was hard to pull. At first, I thought Mr. Pollo was closed, since the door seemed like it was locked. After giving it a second, more forceful pull, I opened the door. I encountered this same issue when exiting the restaurant– I had thought it was a problem only when you enter. I walked down towards the bar after entering, and no one greeted me. This set the tone for the rest of my time there: the service was subpar. I said, «Table for 1, please», to the waitress behind the bar, to which she said, «huh?» When I repeated myself, she said in a dispirited way, «you can sit anywhere.» The food I got was the better part of the night: I got a coconut shrimp appetizer, which I thought was overpriced for $ 8. It was tasty: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and just like what I expected a coconut shrimp dish to taste like. I give props to my server for asking me if I wanted tartar sauce, to which I said yes. To my dismay, she brought a small glass cup with three tartar sauce packets in them. I knew they weren’t fresh by their dulled color. The shrimp was too greasy for an appetizer dish, in my opinion. My stomach felt full and settled after eating this dish, which left me wondering, why is something like that an appetizer(the first course of a full meal) if it fills you up so quickly? I would feel weighed down if I ate this dish and an entrée at this place. Another note about the service: I didn’t see any server come up to the person at the table next to me(who had come before me) once. Not once! It was hard to tell if that person was also a staff worker taking a break, or a customer. To me, the décor in this eatery felt forced and artificial. The fluorescent lighting wasn’t my favorite, the walls(in the colors of the Colombian flag) were too visually harsh on my eyes, and it felt like there were a bunch of trinkets thoughtlessly placed on the walls of this restaurant. After I paid the check, I walked to the door in silence, since none of the servers greeted me. Even a simple«have a nice night» would’ve been great to hear.

The food here is pretty good. Good portions but if you decide to order, order for take out. The place is too small and the service is terrible. The waitresses have a nasty attitude and the wait is too long. We ordered regular drinks, soda and coffees. We got the food first which took 20 minutes with only 2 other small families there. When we asked the waitress for our drinks, she asked what drinks? And it took another 10 mins to come. Eating there was a disaster with the benches connected together with the ones behind us. So if the people behind you move, your seat will move also. And we got stuck with small children behind us who couldnt sit still. Anyways, food is good. Service is not. So order out and dont waste your money eating in then having to tip for horrible service.

Came here with my Mom for lunch mid-week and again for an early dinner with my kids. Service was tolerable — just make sure you get everything you want when you first order. Follow-up is pretty bad from asking for water(never getting it) to asking to wrap up leftovers(I got the containers and a bag.) The roasted chicken was dry and over done. My carne asado was seasoned and tasty. The maduros were under done on one occasion and decent on another. The tostones with guacamole were greasy the first time and extra crispy on another time. I’ll come back for the typical platter but very weary of the service and the chicken.

I see many reviews that critique the service at this location. Quite frankly I found the service at a professional level, not in any way special, but they kept it pro. As far as food, I ordered a grilled steak with rice, beans, and sweet plantains. Simple, core choice of hispanic cuisine. I don’the see the need to get into individual item detail, as this is Spanish cuisine 101. Simply put, nothing special about the food. Plantain was not fresh, but seemed precooked and refrigerated, as a well as the beans and steak. Wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone as I will not be returning. If you want delicious and favorable to the pocket Spanish cuisine, visit«Pollos Mario» on Woodhaven Blvd. Only for New Yorkers or if visiting the Big Apple.

I guess it’s a hit or miss with a lot of people but my experience was very good. I’ve been waiting for a Spanish/Colombian place to open in Bayside! My dad and I went for dinner and at a first glance, no one was in there and was thinking of turning around but we just decided to give it a chance. I got the Typical platter for $ 13 and it was HUGE and very good! It came with chicharrons, rice, beans, corn cake, steak, a whole plantain, egg, and avocado. Every thing was good except for the pork rinds that were kind of tough. But overall super tasty and even good for leftovers for the next day. I’m guessing there’s very little turnover since there is not a lot of business but there were whole chickens roasting in the glass oven that you can see. My dad got a different platter that included half a chicken and pork loin and well and the pork loin was so on point. Definitely great hangover food but can only have it once in a while. Another lady came in after us and ordered fish and it smelled very good. Didn’t get to see what kind it was but smelled great. Definitely worth a tryst so you don’t have to drive out deeper into Queens!

Not really sure why everyone is hating on this place. Mr. Pollo 1 is basically a Colombian diner, typical that you can find also in Jackson Heights which I frequent pretty often. It’s a small place and I recommend getting the bandeja plate which is probably Colombia’s most popular dish. It comes with a mix of everything, beans, rice, arepa, maduro, chicharron, avocado, meat(either steak like or ground meat) and an egg. Any typical Colombian place I go to, the egg is always well done so I knew it was going to come out like that. The portions here are generous and I think I ate my dish for a few days as leftovers. My friend ordered the breaded chicken which was devoured. I also ordered a side of tostones which were pretty standard. It tasted even better when I dipped it into my rice and beans.

First time I ordered the food wasn’t great, second was just now I simply got sweet plantains. Super disappointed. Definitely not ripe enough before they cooked it. It’s barely sweet and its chalky. I know good Colombian food and this is a poor attempt. Try POLLOSMARIOS in Jackson heights. 100 times better!!!

Breakfast till 12pm! Seating is toomy and if you het lucky there are seats right by the window that opens up to the street. So you get to enjoy the music and people watch. Colombian food with Medellin/Paisa flavor. Medellin is a city/region of Colombia. Friendly staff and easy pleasant music plays in the background. There is also a bar if you want to dine or have a soft drink. They also deliver.

All the reviews about the rude waitress are true. Me– Hi can I have scrambled eggs? Waitress– No, we stopped serving breakfast at 12. Me– but it’s 12:07 Waitress– No, it’s actually 12:11 Me– OK so by less than 10 minutes you can’t serve breakfast? Waitress– No, your going to have to order from the lunch menu. I played it safe and ordered the carne azada with rice n beans, and contrary to other reviews, the food was good. I would give it 3 stars but deducted a star for poor service.

A Colombian place in Bayside! Prayers have been answered. I don’t have to travel all the way to Jackson Heights and beat people of different cultures for parking spots! Anyway, the food is always generous and La Bandeja Tipica is always my fave. Although I could do with less chicharron(they give an entire pig’s back) I am usually satisfied with the food. Although I agree with some people here that the food is a bit bland, it’s not terrible at all and tasty. I do hope they add some more Latin flavored into their recipes. I’m glad they are in Bayside and grateful that this restaurant has saved me from multiple felonies by not making me go all the way to Jackson Heights. I once got into a fight with a Mexican chef and a Pakistani delivery guy because the delivery guy cut me off on his bike. I got out of my car and immediately pounced on the guy. To my surprise, the delivery guy was on his to bring the Mexican chef his food! Out of nowhere I heard a battlecry«Que viva Montezuma!» I was pummeled from all sides. Fortunately a white guy, who I later found was Polish pulled the Paki off of me and began attacking him. The fight was monumental. Blood was everywhere on 37th avenue. Finally, the Mexican chef realized that his beans needed to be refried and he ran away. The Polish guy and the Paki guy n fighting so I got in my car and ran over the bike and got away. This is why I don’t like Jackson Heights. Thank you Mr. Pollo.

If I could give this place a zero I would. From the moment we walked in, the waitress had a bad attitude and took forever to bring our food out, even though we were 1 of the 2 tables being served in the entire restaurant. We ordered empanadas as an appetizer and received our entrees without them. When we asked the waitress if she forgot about the empanadas she responded with, do you want them or not? No apology for her mistake and she continued with her attitude. The only good thing about our dishes were the maduros(fried plantain), since the breaded chicken was drenched in oil and the steak tasted very old! When we received the check, we noticed that the gratuity was included even though we were a party of 3! The service(or lack of) we received from that waitress wasn’t even worth a penny, let alone $ 7. This is definitely not the place to go if you want truly authentic Colombian food and service. The staff are extremely rude and the food was disgusting.

Over priced bad food. I stopped in thinking I could grab some quick cheap unhealthy fried chicken. Well, I got the unhealthy fried chicken. But, I paid a full restaurant price. Chicken was dry as tatooine. As I was eating realized that this is a more authentic Colombian way to cook the chicken. But as an American, I expected fried chicken to be more moist in the inside. The fair in general seems fast food quality but the place is set up as a sit-down restaurant. For the price I paid, I could have got a full lunch special at a nearby sushi place. I got a coke, and it came in a dirty can. But they did give me a straw. But for two bucks, it wasn’t worth the gross out factor. Another weird thing is that they had a TV playing Latin music videos but the volume was muted while they played different Colombian music over the load speakers. Just weird and poorly thought out. The environment was festive though.

I am all about trying new foods, so when my boyfriend suggested we order from here last night… I gave it a shot. Especially since I have never had Colombian. Now mind you my review is based on the fact that I have never had Colombian food, so take it for what it is. When we placed the order, they told us it would be 30min and that’s exactly how long it took for the delivery. We ordered a grilled chicken meal and two flank steak meals, which come with a salad, plaintain, rice and beans. I had the grilled chicken was was juicy and very tasty. And by the way, they gave me a huge piece of chicken breast! Which made up for the small salad that came with it. The plantain was very good too. I was let down when I saw that I just got white rice and beans on the side. I thought the rice would have been flavored. So in all it wasn’t a terrible meal, next time I’d probably add in a side or something extra. The flank steaks were good from what I was told. I didnt try them, although I should have. I will give this place another try one day… but as of right now, if I had my choice, I’d rather go to Taco Palace.

Worst service ever. Walked in and told us we’d have to wait about 15 – 20 minutes. I didn’t mind waiting. However, as soon as a table opened up and they cleaned up, the waitress didn’t bother to sit us down and instead kept serving other tables and refilling water. I had to go up to the cashier and ask if they weren’t gonna sit us down. She gave me an attitude and said if I want to sit down, I can go sit. I ordered a top round steak with onions. Salad came out in 15 minutes and we sat there just staring at our salads without forks. Not even going to wait until our food comes to write my review.
