Quintessential hole in the wall shack in a rundown hood. Pulling in to the cracked driveway we were thinking that this will be yet another hit or miss. We didn’t even think twice about eating in. There is no «in», did I not tell you it’s a shack. The colorful menu will set the island theme when you walk up to the window to place your order. It’s a cash only place, The roti entrees are about $ 7 – 9 add a drink and an appetizer and you are still under $ 12/person. Since we were taking-out I ordered the roti on the side to prevent it from getting soggy. I won’t go into the food part beyond that every bite transported me to one of the dock side roti shop in Tortolla. The Roti was not greasy and tasted amazing after 2 hrs without reheating. Don’t forget to ask for the spicy sauce on the side, but use with caution. It’s the real deal! The Chicken Stew had a hint of sweetness which we really liked. The Chicken Curry was flavorful and not too dry. Too bad it was Saturday because I wanted to go back on Sunday but they are closed Sundays. Yes that’s how good it was. 4th Street Deli in Philly, Kake-da-dhaba in New Delhi, Karu’s in Singapore and now Asha’s Roti in Baytown! Go figure!

I have purchased roti And doubles here several times. Reminds me of home. the flavors are on point and the spice is perfect. Get a nice chicken roti with the tamarind and«pepa”(pepper) if you can’t take the heat then don’t eat the meat :-p. I have always liked kuchela -(chutney pepper) and they sell it by the jar. If the meal says Chana then It is simply describing chick peas. Call ahead to order but you still have to wait a few. Cash only so stop at the atm on your way over there. They also have juices I have always been a fan of sorrel but it’s an acquired taste and so is the Mauby. Gentlemen you should try a special drink — sea moss ;-). Very simple as described in the name –shack. It is not a sit down restaurant so don’t go expecting fancy. Just go pick up your food and be ready for finger licking goodness(just remember not to rub your eyes or handle fragile parts if you had food with«pepa» :-)

My daughter who is American found this place for her Trini mom(me) — I was in food heaven! Small place with mega taste & authentic Trini food. If you are craving good-flavored Trinidadian food this is the place — it’s like being«back home».

I am rarely ever disappointed with getting food here. I normally call my order in, then go pick it up. Just I case there’s a lot of people. The quality is great! The food is always fresh and taste good. You can just tell when people take pride in what they do! The overall appearance is really clean on the outside.

Being that my ex husband is Trini, I know how to determine a good roti shop. Unfortunately, I got there right before close so there was not a huge selection left to choose from. I was not disappointed though. I ordered the oxtail and goat, both were wonderful. I do have to give a heads up to those wanting to eat here that they are cash only. Not a big deal, but I never carry cash on me and had to drive to the atm just down the road. That said, I recommend this restaurant and will definitely be a regular!

The food here is wonderful and tastes very authentic and fresh. I had the jerk chicken, it was full of flavor and very spicy. The side salad did leave a little to be desired as it was just iceberg lettuce with a sliced tomato on top, but you won’t even care about the salad once you taste the food. I would have given 5 stars if they would taken cards or at least been able to have given me a receipt.

Unless you know someone else that makes them. This is the spot. Everything on the menu is good.

I’m from the Caribbean and I know good curry and I must say, these Trini are legit! Good roti and doubles. Can’t speak for the rest of the menu since I usually only order rotis and doubles. Also, they have a good assortment of local drinks including Mauby, Sea Moss, Ting and Vita Malt!

I had the oxtail, my wife had the chicken roti. They were very fresh because I was there when they opened for the day. Enjoyed every bite. I’ll definitely go back.

If you have had a chance to go to Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies then this is a good place to sample the food. ask for the doubles… and any of thier roti plates… if you like to try something different this is the place… no inside dinning but there is a an area behind the shop
