Richards Cajun Restaurant

Not very good but it was better than The Boot. The Boudan balls were cold in the middle. Think they forgot about my shrimp cause my husband food came out first. The Cajun rice was bad. Sausage cooked in was burnt. First and last time. Plus the wait staff was not very attentive with hardly anybody in the place

I was raised in Louisiana until I was 13. My family all comes from louisiana. I’m a Cajun. I now live in texas and have for over 20 years. I go back to Louisiana alot that is home. Richard restaurant is authentic cajun food. If I don’t feel like cooking at home and we want seafood and don’t want to drive to Kemah or Galveston we eat at Richard. I saw on Unilocal post about other cajun restaurant in Baytown people saying it was authentic cajun food. Who are you going to believe a northern or a cajun. I order the shrimp poor boy it comes with a side for 8.99. I’ve gotten shrimp poor boys in Louisiana that didn’t have as much shrimp in it as this one. The shrimp are seasoned perfectly. It comes with mayo on it but if you want tartar sauce they will put it. My husband gets the crawfish half and half it comes with half fried crawfish and half crawfish ettouffe served with rice, fries, salad and bread we also get the boudin ball. Monday through Friday they have lunch specials. I never ate anything there that wasn’t good. Now I’m not trying to put down the other cajun restaurant that I mentioned earlier totally because I do go to that restaurant for the smoked boudin. And you will see my review on it as well. The service at Richard is excellent. I’ve been there when they were busy and when they were not so busy and got the same great service. Even the manager will help the servers if they get to busy. Dang why am I doing this review right now we just BBQ for the holiday and now I want a poorboy. I have Richard ‘s restaurant phone number on my favorite in my contact. It’s the first one. I know what I’m eating for lunch tomorrow Lol

These crawfish are ok. Small, hit or miss when it comes to consistency of flavor. Sometimes I’d go in and eat crawfish that weren’t too bad at all. Then other times, the crawfish would be barely edible. If you’re looking to spend $ 50 on some good crawfish, I’d spend it elsewhere.

We were greeted with very friendly staff. This place deserve more credits then what is posted. The catfish, boudin, crawfish etouffe, and Thursday pork chops was soo delicious. The young gentlemen with the beard, and Janet service was awesome. Thank you guys:))

I come here exclusively for the crawfish. They are not stingy with them and the flavor is perfectly spicy.
The place itself is pretty rundown reminds me of an old Buffett restaurant but it’s worth it!

This place is a dump! The food was horrible! Why is this place still operating in Baytown?

First time visiting this restaurant. I must say the service was really nice, polite and fast. Shout out to Ms. Janet!!! Now for the food. I had the catfish and shrimp for $ 13.99 it was cooked to perfection and pretty well seasoned. The hush puppies were also good. My belly was truly swollen after all that. All in all great experience and will return.

I ate here last week and this week. I had the fried shrimp and the fried catfish.
This was the best seafood I’ve had in a long time. I took a friend and he said the same thing. It was fresh and hot tasted awesome. I will definitely go back. Also great tarter sauce!

I ate at my local Richard’s but they have another Restaurant in Lake Charles. I got the Crawfish Etttouffee with hush puppies. The employees are very friendly & attentive. Nothing fancy but clean
Business. I will come back here and I recommend

Cajun Seafood!!!

The boiled crawfish were excellent ! My husband and I shared the seafood platter. Very large platter that easily fed us both ! Michael was our waiter. Very nice attentive young man. Atmosphere is only drawback, but would return again for the food.

I went here for some appetizers the other day. My boyfriend and I couldn’t decide where and what we wanted to eat. So we got some fried alligator and boudin balls.
The fried alligator was ok. Not nearly as good as pappadeaux, but the breading was perfectly seasoned.
The boudin balls were horrible and tasted like chopped up cat food with extra tuna and celery.
I’d go back to have some fried seafood. However there will be no boudin balls here, ever.

The étouffée was good but was even better was the boudin balls appetizer. Apparently locals come in and order multiple orders for lunch, seems like an awesome idea for the way back to Houston. Make a stop, very reasonably priced.

The Étouffée was ok. It was served over rice. I like mine over a rice that has soaked up some of the Étouffée juices. This rice had not been prepared to do so, leaving the dish lacking.
The boudin balls were rather good. My first time having them, so I have nothing to compare them too.

The good– our waitress and the quantity of food, crab claws.
the bad– Everything seemed to be frozen, the fried shrimp was, The stuffed crab had no crab, except for the shell. The stuffed shrimp was mushy, catfish was just ok, crawfish was heavily battered. The 3 of us were sick to our stomachs within 30 minutes of our dinner. If you try it, I hope you have a better experience.

Have eaten here 4 times and every time it’s been barely edible food and the prices are too high!
