I stopped in for some Harlequin romance novels for a beach weekend with girlfriends… We were making gift bags for everyone, and a trashy beach read is a must! The owner helped me pick some out, and we laughed that they all had to have cheesy covers with couples in clandestine embraces and they MUST have awful titles… «The Belle & the Ranch Hand», etc. So much fun. She showed me another series of the Harlequins to consider, and I stuck with what I had… They were fine. The credit card machine wasn’t working when I went to check out, so I left the books up front with her and sent the SO to pick them up after work — he’s a teacher at Sterling across the street. He was able to pay with a card, no problem, and she gave him another set of books for the girls — all from the other Harlequin series she recommended. So sweet of her! I came back and bought two books another time, but she wasn’t there… Her dad was, and he was slightly anti-social(didn’t greet me when I came in, even though I was the only one in the store at noon), but was cordial enough when he checked me out. The store is clean, and is bursting from all the books. They have a little of everything, and sell for half the cover price. I’ll be back, for sure! :)
