Had dinner at the Terrace Tavern Crabshack during the summer 2015 and can’t wait to go back this year when we visit LBI again. I ordered the Barnegat Light Sea Scallops and got them Matecumbe style — fresh tomatoes, shallots, basil, capers, olive oil & lemon juice Lemon — a great recommendation by the waitress, delicious! They offer a great selection of craft beers I went with the Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. 5 stars because of the food, drinks, and fun attentive staff.

Food was good. My friend enjoyed his burger and fries, my crab cake sandwich was good but the potato salad was a disappointment. The prices were inflated but that’s to be expected in a shore town. I felt service could have been faster and I wasn’t fond of seeing the bartender pour some liquor into his own drink. It’s one thing to pour a bit in your drink in the back of the house but not in front of customers. I’ll be trying a new place next LBI visit.

Service was good and food was ok. Had mahi mahi wrap but it was loaded with more lettuce and very little tuna. Prices were kinda high but then again everything is on the island.

Been going to LBI for 30 years. This«used to be» the best bar/eatery on the island — circa 1990, when they were open year-round and the clientele was 80% islanders. After the latest redesign, its just flat-out bad… looks like a plastic flamingo factory exploded inside an aircraft carrier. Not only is the interior schlocky, loud and cold, the quality & quantity of food has slipped considerably, with an inexplicable increase in prices across the board.

In an island with ok food terrace tavern stands out. It’s better then most on the island. Had two great meals here this summer and definitely will be back next summer!

My family and I just had the most disappointing overpriced takeout meal ever. It actually made us cry. The steamers were half empty and the broiled seafood platter was sadder than a two legged puppy that is first in line for the gas chamber at the pound. I even called to complain and all they did was make excuses in the phone. Never going back.

Super weird. We stopped in at night for a couple of drinks. This place looks like an old school diner that was converted into a bar. It was strange that they were stamping your hands here when you went in. Not really the type of place that I would like to hang out for long. We only stayed for a drink or two before moving on. Draught beer was more expensive than it should be, but I imagine that prices are jacked up a bit all over the island. I liked that the wawa was across the street, so I could sneak out to get a redbull over there.

We ordered takeout for 6 adults and one child. We ordered a few Main Events and steam bucket(can’t remember what they called it). The lobsters were the best we’d had all week. We stuffed ourselves on lobsters, clams, mussels, shrimp, corn, potatoes and sausage. They also included cooked carrots but nobody had time or room for that. Came out to $ 266 and was ready to be picked up in less than 30 minutes. 10⁄10 would go again.

Fun place on LBI! We got a table right away, place was busy so this was a nice plus. Drinks were good and you have a ton to choose from which is nice. My husband and I each got a cup of soup and then we shared raw oysters, the conch fritters and the fried seafood platter. We were very happy with our dinner. Great casual dining experience after a day at the beach. Hit the spot!

Absolute worst experience. My food took forever and the rest of my friends got there food 15 mins before I got my apps. I never was told sorry let me check or told sorry kitchen is backed up. I work in the hospitality industry and have worked in numerous restaurant and am disgusted. Both my fiancé and couldn’t even eat out entrees and when we asked to wrap them was not even asked why neither of us ate. Waste of $ 100 if you like bad service and waiting go here!

My family has been coming to LBI for over 50 years and they’ve brought me my entire life. For reasons unknown, we had never been to the Terrace Tavern. Until this week. The tavern was a little crowded when we arrived, so we decided to have a cocktail before dinner. We each ordered a different signature cocktail and thought they were all great! Their bloody Mary’s are to die for! I tried other meals that people had ordered and can say that from their buffalo chicken to their crab cakes, the Terrace Tavern is great! I highly suggest it for drinks and food. I can’t wait to come back!

I don’t know how this place only has a 3 star Unilocal average. My fiancée came down to LBI just for the day and driving down to Fantasy Island, you can’t miss this place. The atmosphere here reminds me so much of the restaurants back home in South Florida. The bartenders are awesome, have a great happy hour and the food is DELICIOUS. You won’t regret it!

This place is disgusting! Do not eat here! I went with my niece, sister and Mom to have a nice lunch while we were on LBI for a week in August. They wanted Lobsters and we heard this place was good. We sat at an outside table and noticed there were a lot of flies around. The menu claimed«Warning — our burgers are the best! Juicy, Messy and cooked to order». Being a burger fiend and a non-seafood eater, I ordered one medium rare. The others had the advertised lobster lunch special and asked that the kitchen crack them. The waitress warned them that even if there was roe in the lobster, the restaurant would not take them back. We should have been wary having been warned of a problem before we even got the food. There were very few people here as it was mid to late afternoon on a weekday. Inside, there were a few people sitting at the bar and one or two tables occupied. We were the only people eating outside. Even so, it took a very long time to get our food. As soon as the food arrived, we were literally swarmed with flies on us, the table and on our food and had to keep swatting them away. The butter served with the lobster was clearly not real butter but some oily concoction. The lobster that they served to my niece was covered with green lobster poop. We complained to the waitress and she claimed it was the roe. It was NOT the roe. It was gross lobster excrement! My niece is no stranger to lobster and knows the difference between roe and poop. She grew up on the water on Long Island and has been eating lobster since she was a baby. All she wanted for her 6th birthday was her first whole lobster. She was revolted and could not eat her lunch.(See Picture 20) My fairly pricey burger came out totally well-done and dried out. I told the waitress and she said they could re-make it but it would take 10 minutes. I said never mind, I didn’t want to wait that long as I had come to enjoy lunch eating with my family. She said I could take it to go. It tried to eat it but it was so dry I was literally choking on it as I tried to eat it.(See Picture 19) Attention Crabshack; #1-If a patron has to send something back, put the remake at the front of the queue. #2-If you think a medium rare burger takes 10 minutes to cook, no wonder they come out overdone. #3-If I came to your restaurant to enjoy a meal with my family, don’t offer me the the simplest item to cook on the menu that I ordered that your chef couldn’t cook right to take out. #4-Don’t serve food with doody on it. I could actually see Woodys II from where I was sitting which has a far better burger at half the price that comes cooked as you ordered it. This lunch was unpleasant, inedible and cost over $ 100 to boot. There are plenty of places to go on LBI. Do not come here!

We’d driven past this place for years but after looking at their menu we decided this time around we’d give it a try. It was a Saturday evening in late September and were seated immediately. The atmosphere was interesting and almost like a night club with a similar volume. After perusing through the drinks menu we decided to try some of their beer cocktails. While they were delicious, we later came to find out that they were $ 8 each(the price wasn’t listed on the menu). I understand cocktails are pricey and will willingly pay but for mixing beers I’m not so sure the price is warranted. For food we ordered the conch fritters for an appetizer and the mahi mahi wrap and fried seafood combination platter. The fritters arrived quickly but were mostly filler and served only with cocktail sauce. They were just plain, «ehhh». The fried seafood and wrap were fresh and tasty but definitely nothing new. Not sure we’ll be back but not for anything in particular just a slightly above mediocre experience at a slightly above expected price.

The menu states that the crab cakes are a customer favorite and that they’re «loaded with crab». I beg to differ. I ordered the shrimp & crab cake combo. I only saw breading when I cut into the crab cake with my fork. It was also over-cooked. I sent it back and the replacement was only marginally better. I thought the meal was over-priced as well.

This place was pretty cool, with nice people working here. I wish I tried the food, but it was late and we just got beers at the bar. The bartender and owner were very nice to us. They even hooked us up with some shirts, which I still wear often. Clean, well kept, nice, friendly place for beers. Next time I am back I want to try the food.

Overpriced, overcooked, and skimpy portions. I don’t mind paying $ 32 for an entrée, but at that price I do expect to receive quality food. Seafood Broiler: Consisted of 3 shrimp, 3 clams, 3 small scallops, and flounder. The shrimp were dry and there wasn’t much flavor to anything. I chose coleslaw as a side… at least that was good. Crab cakes: I really questioned if this was an actual seafood restaurant. What a poor excuse for a crab cake. Looked and tasted like a pile of breaded mush. With so many seafood restaurants on the island, I’d recommend to go elsewhere.

HORRIBLE!!! We came here in search of blue crabs only to find out none was offered! We decided to stay bc we didn’t want to drive around. Big mistake! They are way way way overpriced and the food wasn’t even that good. The only thing that we all enjoyed was the sweet potato fries(which were $ 7 for a side!!) Who charges that much for a side of fries! It wasn’t even a large side of fries. Here’s what we ordered… Fried pickle chips — yuck. So salty and wasn’t even crispy. It was like it was sitting there soaking under the heat lamp forever! Conch fritters — Where’s the conch?! Fried flounder sandwich– fish tasted fresh, but my sandwich had nothing on it! No lettuce, tomato, NOTHING!!! It was so bland. I asked the server where everything was and she stated that most people don’t like it with that stuff so they don’t put it on. Hello… don’t compare me to most people. Put what’s supposed to be on it and I’ll decide to take it off if I don’t like it. Buffalo burger — over cooked piece of meat thrown on bread… again with no lettuce or tomato. Burger w/goat cheese(forget the name) — this is the only thing that actually came out right. Had lettuce and such and cooked right! Soup– The clam chowder was ok. Didn’t taste homemade, but it was decent. Not sure how my neice’s crab bisque was. She said it was good. Mussles in red sauce — bland! Drinks — The strawberry mojito was delicious. The frozen drink tasted like they put no alcohol in it. Anyway…save your money and go elsewhere. Service was beyond slow(although she was very nice) and food was horrible!
