Beautiful Portuguese winery and first time visit!!! The grounds were lovely, sparkling clean, and I like that they incorporate a wedding venue into their winery IMO! Our group I was with went and sat down at a table and at first the staff said they weren’t conducting table tastings so we walked up to the tasting«bar» and the same staff member said, «well the person that was here is gone, so I’ll do a table tasting for you.» Her named turned out to be Marie and she took us on a private extended tour of the lovely grounds! When we got back inside we sat down and Marie started to do the tasting and than she walked off and this is the part where I’m going from 5 stars to 4. A different staff member came up and took over the tasting. The tasting was either 8 tastes of white and red and it literally took forever In between tastings– felt like 20 – 25 minutes between each! Now we were going to go visit a local Brewery but we ran out of time due to this really extended tasting! I also wanted to do the $ 15 reserve tasting but the rest of my group were growing antsy! The wines were all really tasty especially the Reds and the Cherry which was served in a cute petite chocolate thimble. Happy we went but please press fast forward on the tasting part!

Great atmosphere, family friendly, love seeing the horses, and they have a fenced in area for kids to play and have a picnic. Friendly people!

My favorite of 20+ vineyards I’ve visited in VA to date. Exceptional service provided by Candace. It was more like enjoying a party with my group of friends as we partook of the delightful wines and food pairings. We enjoyed rating the wines and discussing what we preferred. You MUST include the dessert wines… fabulous. Left with tree bottles which is rare for us. Daughter enjoyed the friendly horses and the chocolate.

This winery is fabulous, from the venue, to the service, to the wines. I usually don’t like red wines and ask for half servings. I regretted that request immediately. They don’t allow minors at the bar, so they say our group at a table for our tasting. They were kind enough to include our 16 year old daughter in the food pairings. This venue will never be a quick tasting, plan on about 90 minutes. Candace was our server and she did a fabulous job taking care of us. The tasting includes a plate of cheese, chocolate, and cracker stick. I found it to be quite a pleasant experience to taste a wine with and without a good choice. Candace was very knowledgeable about the wines that were served. She also designed the bottle label for the Moscatel dessert wine. We will usually purchase one bottle, if we like the wines. This time we purchased three bottles!

I went to this winery yesterday. It is a very beautiful place and an easy location to get too. I went with my friend, her child and my two children. The staff in the tasting room were very polite and welcoming. The tasting options are $ 8 for a classic tasting or $ 15 to add on three of their dessert wines and a keepsake glass. We chose the full one to try them all. The tasting also comes with food pairings and I feel like the pairings went well with the wine. They give a decent amount in the tastings as well. Definitely a couple sips worth to get a feel for the wine. The wine itself was okay. More on the dry end of the spectrum. I thought the prices were decent as well for a bottle, $ 20 – 25. The reason I gave it three stars was because the tasting itself took so long. It took at least an hour if not longer from sitting down to finish. It would be understandable if they were busy but they were not. I have a feeling that they take it slow on purpose. If it was just my friend and I, the slowness would have been fine, relaxing but we had our kids with it and it was just torturous trying to keep them calm and contained for so long. I would say if you are looking for a very calm, relaxing, slow paced day without kids, this would be the place for you.

A friend and I were on our way to a different winery and decided to try someplace new. Pleasantly surprised. The tasting room was beautiful! The $ 15 tasting was well worth it. The dessert — style wines were pretty good, too. Their Merlot(one of my favorites) was smooth. We ended up buying some snacks there. Wish that we’d known we could bring our own food, but now we know for next time. All of the staff was very helpful and polite. We will definitely be back!

B-e-a-utiful! The grounds, the wine tasting room and the«ballroom». Attended a wedding the staff was great both for the wedding and the tasting. Wish I didn’t live 4 states away. I forgot to mention I thought ALL of the wines were delicious.

My family and I first went to Morias several months ago(about an hour drive from our home) and we had an incredible time. Candice was our wine tour ‘guide’ and she is truly the reason we had such an amazing time. We showed up roughly 5 minutes to closing, not realizing the hours, and we were eagerly welcomed in — and absolutely not rushed at all. Candice gave us all of her time and all of her attention — and did an amazing job taking us through the wine tasting. The atmosphere of the room was great, they give you little snacks to try with the wines — we left with NOTHING but nice things to say; so much so, that several months later my in-laws came over on their travels from Ireland and on their short 7 day stay, we made an effort to again go back to Morias, ask for Candice by name, and receive the same attention and amazing experience. The wine tasting room is gorgeous, the help is unbelievable, and the wine is unique! Would(and have) definitely recommend!

Another delayed June review. What I liked, I liked a lot. And what I disliked, I disliked a lot. But on balance it was still a very worthwhile trip. I did the Reserve tasting for $ 15(normal tasting $ 8) and received 11 wines. The Touriga Nationale was the best; very complex body and only $ 25. The 18% alcohol Jeriopiga Merlot/Cab Franc blend(aged with a cinnamon stick) was excellent as well. As you would expect from a Portuguese themed winery they had excellent sangria. And on a hot day, the tart green-apple flavored Battlefield White would probably hit the spot. And for desert wines, the brandy-fortified Moscatel didn’t disappoint. But my favorite part was probably the outstanding cherry wine poured into a tiny chocolate cup, which you then ate whole. I’ve had wine/chocolate pairings before, but this was special. They even sold the cherry in tiny bottles; reminded me of stocking stuffers(I hope mom is reading my review). All that goodness aside, I have very mixed feelings about the venue. Yes, the new tasting room looks wonderful from the outside. But the grounds looks like all the worst parts of a wedding factory! I’m often suspicious of locations that incorporate weddings as a key part of their revenue stream; I find it takes away from the wine experience for the rest of us. Having big signs on the lawn saying«Amore» and«Love» just seemed over the top. Or maybe it was the coop with doves and a peacock; when his feathers were fluffed up the poor guy looked like he could barely move around. But the worst part was the acoustics of the tasting room. It seems like an echo chamber. It was a busy day so that made it worse; my server had to practically yell to be heard, and she was right in front of us. Will I go again? Yes, very likely. But I’ll try hard to go before the crowds arrive.

Originally came here for a friend’s wedding, but got there early so did a mini wine tasting. This place is gorgeous and lovely area. The server that did the wine tasting for us was very knowledgeable about the wine and even paired it with cheese and chocolates. Would definitely like to go back for the view and enjoy the area again.

Amazing!!! I could sit here and tell you every wonderful thing that they did that day but it would take this whole day and the next. They were in tune with all the details of the wedding. Every issue that could arise or did arise they took care of exceptionally well. I’m so grateful for their team! Detail oriented! Lovely!!! Just outstanding!!! Honest! Trustworthy and just kind people.

This was our first time going to this winery for tastings. It is a beautiful property. The tasting room is gorgeous and large for many people. The bar is set a little high for the average person. Our server Jeanine was very friendly and knowledgeable of the wines. My husband and I had a great experience.

Absolutely wonderful vineyard. We enjoyed all of the wines on the tasting menu and purchased two bottles to take home(Battlefield White and Touriga National). There was a caterer on site for folks to sample small plates and also a DJ. I don’t know if this is an everyday thing, but we certainly enjoyed it! Always great to try food and wine together. :)

I hosted a surprise birthday party for my mother and thanks to the staff everything went smoothly. The vineyard is absolutely beautiful! I mean breath taking! The staff especially Jamie was awesome! The DJ was awesome as well. I cannot express how amazing this place is. From service, to food, to music, to ambiance. I cannot wait to go back and don’t all over again! What a hidden gem!

Absolutely wonderful service and wine! Went for a tour with a Groupon I’d bought, and ended up staying for a tasting. The staff members were very friendly and knowledgeable, and spoke very highly of Mr. Morais — a rarity for any business, which really impressed me. The wines were great. I do not typically enjoy white wines, but was very pleased with the selection offered at Morais. Their red wines were delightful, and the dessert wines were heavenly. We also got a free meat, cheese, and chocolate plate with our wines, and were told which foods went best with each wine. Double bonus: local cake business was there that day, and we got to try some cake with our wine as well! I highly recommend making the trip here, even if it’s a little out of your way. I came from WV, and have gathered some girls together for a future trip! Can’t wait to go back!

We had a great tasting at Morais! I love that hey have wine and cheese and chocolate with all of their tastings. It was very informative and our tasting consult, Janeine, was very knowledgeable about wines, palates and the owners and history of the vineyard. The grounds were very nice, evening on this cold blustery day! Wine was better than most in this area and even my native Italian boyfriend enjoyed their reserve and TOURIGANATIONAL! We had great service, beautiful tasting room, and enjoyed the warmth of the staff and the tasting room with a nice bottle of the Touriga National! Overall a definite must visit.

The property and staff couldn’t have been any better. I was there on their opening night and was blown away by the place. On this visit with friends I was amazed by the new tasting room. WOW!!! The staff couldn’t have been any nicer. They have a promotion going in now where the wine makers are present to answer questions and discuss the wines. Very neat and informative. This winery has certainly taken things to a new level. So what about the wines? I have to be very honest that Virginia red wines seemed to have really lost their depth and taste over the past few years. Some might be inclined to say you’re nuts or uneducated about wines ect… I am merely saying from my pallet and opinion that is what I feel. I have lived all over the world and still travel internationally extensively. Virginia is my home and the wine near and dear to me. The reds lately seem to be flat and without depth. Maybe the lack if very hot summers is to blame. None of the reds here are something I would seek out.

Extremely friendly staff. Great wines(whites and even the reds!). Beautiful winery and amazing tasting room. This is our favorite winery that we have visited(and we have been to a lot). A long description is not needed. Morais is simply as good as it gets. $ 8 for 7 wines(whites/reds) $ 15 for 10 wines(whites/reds/desert wines) and you keep the glass. And a complimentary cheese, pretzel and ham tray with the tasting! Check it out, you will not be disappointed!

Who would have thought that a beautiful vineyard that looks like it was plopped straight out of a European village would be located a quarter mile from the Five Guys in Bealeton, Virginia? Built to model the government building-turned-hotel where one of his daughters was married in Portugal, the spacious winery building is a tribute to the owner’s heritage. The staff at Morais Vineyard literally charmed the pants off me. From their funny anecdotes about the owner’s family(everything in the vineyard is family owned and operated — even the labels are hand placed by the owner’s 12 year old grandson), Lucy and Ethel references, and general knowledge about Portugal’s wine industry, it was obvious that everybody was very passionate about their work. Wine Tastings are $ 7 and include crackers, cheese, and a taste of Portugese cake. You get to taste their basic reds, whites, and other varietals but my favorite was a brandy infused dessert wine which was absolutely fantastic(and lethal!). As a wedding venue this place can’t be beat. Not only is it gorgeous it is very affordable(as far as weddings go). Pros: Full day rental, ballroom fits 300 people, separate bridal loft and changing area, full kitchen, petting zoo on premises(for kids!), chiavari chairs included in price tag(usually costs $ 6 — $ 11 per chair), friendly and responsive staff, bring your own alcohol, choose your own caterer Cons: You will probably have to spend your wedding night at a HoJo
