I love this place! The gardens were very well maintained, and there are a lot of little side nooks to sit down and enjoy nature. A big plus to this garden is that it is free, open late, and very accessible. The only thing changes that I would make is increasing the size of the garden, and adding some kid friendly items(sandbox, swing set).

This place is breathtaking. We evacuated New Orleans for a tropical storm, and we went to Beaumont to get out of the way. It was raining in the midst of a tropical storm, and the flowers were shredded, but the gardens were like nothing I had ever seen. They are beautiful. My kids loved it, I loved it, it was romantic and just indescribable. The September 11 memorial was beautiful, it made me teary. I hope to go back someday. If you are in the area, don’t miss it.

Park anywhere in the half moon parking lot and wander behind the building marked Beaumont Botanical Gardens. There are restrooms, a public changing area(many photography sessions take place in this park) and a water fountain at the main building. Lots of shaded, quiet areas to sit and relax and just contemplate being surrounded by flowers and bushes. Many of the plants are marked so you can learn more about their species. There are a few statues to examine and birdhouses to find — some hidden and some not so hidden. The paths are mostly flat and paved. There is a pond at the back with a waterfall — the pond could use a cleaning but the waterfall feature is impressive. I also noticed what appeared to be man made stream beds, complete with drains, but they were empty. I think the main reason for these issues is a lot of people don’t know the gardens are here, and it’s probably a cost saving thing. With that being said, you should absolutely check out the gardens if you are into nature or just need bird song to drown out your worries. Bring a camera, take a sketchbook. Also be sure to check out the September 11th memorial, set up complete with red, white and blue flowers. The gardens are open to the public during Tyrrell park hours, year round. There is no cost for admittance or parking.
