This place is TERRIBLE! I got beef tips and rice, greens, and mac and cheese. The beef tips and rice lacked seasoning, the greens were straight from a can, and the mac and cheese wasn’t even edible. It tasted like plastic. It was like powdered cheese or something. I will never go back! I guess this it what I get for not eating at Rosies.

Omg omg omg collard greens. Have to be the best I ever had. I’m in Beaumont for the day. Of course new area means something new to eat. Must try! Ox tails are delicious. The owner lady and family working were so sweet and accommodating.

Love the food, and the sweetness of the staff’s southern hospitality. Huge and generous proportions. The building is a little older, but there I plenty of space, and it’s clean. Great lunch place for work.

This has to be some of the best food I’ve had in a long time! The staff makes you feel like family. The food… OMG…I almost ordered two plates and I was full on the first. Definitely need to try this spot out. A great diamond in the rough!

Wowza! I could have made a whole meal from just the incredible collard greens and corn bread, but the beef tips & rice kept calling my name — stewed in a dark Cajun sauce that made me sweat. Tomorrow, I’m going back for the ox tails! «It’s all gravy baby!» These classic words were spoken by the nice ladies running this place. All this great food just a few miles from Louisiana.

This place is great, unfortunately we only get to eat here every couple months. I always get the gumbo, this place has authentic country/creole food.

I haven’t gone for years since my mom passed away. They have moved from College location to this one on Magnolia. The food is pretty good, but is spicy. I had backed chicken and dressing. Sidea were blackeyed peas, okra and tomato and cabbage. My husband had beef tips over rixe, green beans and pinto beans. We thought it was very good. Our plates were empty when we left. The owner and I reminised and I had remember she catered Lionel Ritchie’s BD, but didnt know she had done so for BB King and I believe she said Bobby Bland Band(deceased). The place is busy with many day laborers from Army Reserve to Oil and Refinery workers ro families. It was as good as it was when we uses to take our Mom. Spicy food! Nice people. Clean place. Large place in The Hood of Beaumont. Who cares if food is good.

This place is amazing. Ok, it’s the food that makes it amazing. Huge portions and a great selection of meats and sides. It is good southern soul food. Even the mac n cheese had a little kick but I think it is the best I have ever had. I am pretty sure they cook the green beans with sugar. I was only able to eat half of my plate and felt bad for leaving the rest.

Big heart, grandmother-quality food, convenient for a quick jump off Interstate 10. Imagine Cracker Barrel with soul. Cafeteria-style, but don’t let that stop you. We had beef tips and courtbullion(they spell it «cubion»). Didn’t have the nerve to try the oxtails, but they looked good. Portions are very generous. Décor is hmmm, well, let’s just say«appropriate» or «unpretentious.» Awarding five stars for what the restaurant is, but also for what it isn’t.

If they have food in heaven, it will be from Richard’s Café. This is the best. When I eat here, I always feel just like I’ve just eaten at my grandmother’s house. She’s long gone, but she was the best cook ever. She cooked greens every day(home grown in my grandpa’s garden). Richard’s Café is a must-eat.

Nice people. Very nice people. Southern hospitality! Salty food. Place looks like a small dump but it is huge and … well still kinda dumpy. I immediately was an skeptical because the sign states that it is soul food and seafood. However there was not a seafood entrée in the end building. The food is not made to order. It is cafeteria style. Excellent prices. I had rib tibs with rice and mac n cheese and greens. Greens had an off flavor. Ribs tips were salty.

Road trip to visit family and looked to Unilocal to find a great place to eat right off I-10& found it! The great reviews are spot on. My family all had beef tip stew and it was so good. Everything tasted like grandma’s kitchen and had Louisiana flavor because the owner comes from Cajun Country! Don’t miss it!

My co-worker and I were driving through the area and wanted lunch so I Unilocaled restaurants in Beaumont. This place had four and a half stars so we drove to it. It looked a bit worn on the outside and we almost drove off. What a mistake that would’ve been! Obviously, with all the great reviews on the beef tip, I had to see what it was about. I got it over rice, turnip greens, blackeye peas and cornbread. What a healthy portion of beef! She kept scooping more and more. I was certain that I was going to have leftovers. Once I sat down and got started, the meat was so perfectly tender without falling apart to shreds. So great with the rice and the perfectly seasoned turnip greens with the slight contrasting tang that complimented everything so well. Before I knew it, I was using the last inch of cornbread to sop up the last of the sauce from the beef tips!!! If you are looking for great comfort food made with love, this is your spot!

Lunch today at Richard’s(Beaumont, TX)…it was S-I-C-K GOOD. The quintessential meat and three café is located on Magnolia@Miller, between Calder and I-10. They serve 7 – 8 «mains» plus 10 – 12 sides. Enjoyed the baked, smothered chicken with rice and gravy and greens. Other«mains» included ribs, meatloaf, ox tails, etc. Other sides included cornbread dressing, mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, four kinds of beans, mashed potatoes, etc. The desserts are also luscious. For example, yellow cake with chocolate icing. They were formally located on College across from Debb’s Liquor until Hurricanes Rita and Ike forced them to move. DONOT miss this place! Open Mon-Fri ’til 6PM. Closed Sat & Sun.

As a Californian traveling across the country, this was exactly the sort of soul-food, BBQ joint I hoped to find at the Texas /Louisiana border. They’ve got something like 8 types of meat, but we played it safe with beef tips and the fried chicken. Their meals come with at least two vegetable options, which include corn, candied sweet potatoes, Mac n cheese and fried beans. The atmosphere was even better than the food. The whole restaurant was made up of three different sections with slightly different themes ranging from shabby to old and shabby. In certain sections, the walls were adorned with paintings of palm trees and trellises with faux flowers. Their 1990s era televisions were playing confusing daytime game shows involving giant ATMs and overly enthusiastic competitors who appeared to outdo one another by showing off how many clashing colors they could fit onto one outfit. Their soda machines were broken in the most spectacular fashion with no hope of either repair or replacement. But most important of all, the food was exactly what you’d expect, heavy, fatty, and incredibly, mouth-wateringly delicious.

One of the best soul food I been so far. Today there shipment came in late. I had to wait 3 hrs to get to enjoy my delicious meal. Everything is good here! The one thing that keep me coming back for more is there fall off the bones oxtail. People said it’s under season but to me if you cook it right there’s no need to over season your product. Other places over season there food to hides the quality. This place is just right! I wanted to be there apprentice but she said she doesn’t give her recipe away. I don’t blame her I would keep it for myself. One bite of there food and you will know why this southern cooking is no joke…

Richards café is just about the best soul food I have had. Their collard greens aren’t half as good as my grandpa’s and their corn bread falls short of his also. But my Grandpa’s cooking was special so Richards may be second best for me but its so god damn good! All of the food taste likes it has been slowly cooked for hours, the gravy is rich and flavorful, the meat falls off the bones. The Gumbo is serious… seriously. Its hard to review Richards because all I can think about is how bad I want to go eat it right now and I live 4 hours away. The side dishes are all flavored perfectly and taste just like home cooking. The sweet tea is just sweet enough. Richards maybe near perfection. I’m hungry now. eat at Richards you wont regret it.
