I drive from McFarland to Green Bay on business trips quite often and I pass this place every single time. I’ve been wanting to stop in for months now and finally did three days ago. I got a bag of cheese curds, some smoked gouda cheese, and some of their party mix. I did not like the party mix. The seasoning on it wasn’t that good, but then again I’m used to Gardettos. The cheese curds are not squeaky and have a thick texture, so they’re better for frying than stand-alone eating but that’s not what I was looking for. I didn’t think the gouda cheese was good, and my boyfriend even commented that it tasted different than kinds he has had in the past. It was bitter and, in my opinion, too soft. Cheesers in Stoughton and Scray Cheese in De Pere have tastier and higher quality cheeses than this cheese haus, in my opinion. I won’t be coming back here. After wanting to visit the place for so long, it was quite a disappointment.

The building is very charming for photos and it’s the type of place you hope to find when you’re a cheese-lover and in Wisconsin. Inside, there’s shopping to be done for souvenirs, gifts, and kitchenware along with(of course) the cheese and meats. However, the prices were high. We did buy two food items but they really cut into our poor tourists’ budget. With our preschooler along — the aisles inside the store were very narrow to maneuver(we were making sure to carry her). They were also narrow to maneuver if you encountered another visitor even without a preschooler. That doesn’t really lend itself to comfortable browsing and buying. The garden/nature space next to the shop(with picnic tables) was just awesome when stopping with a little one.

I currently live in Virginia, my mom decided to send me a nice gift box to remind me of home, to include string cheese and some baking mixes. After a few days my mom told me we were supposed to receive a bottle of wine and some orange cream liqour. We didn’t receive this. So she called and they were absolutely horrendous to her, blaming her and telling her she was lying! That we had signed for the package so we got it. Hello, no one opens the package before they sign for it and it was a gift I didn’t know what was supposed to be there. When my mom told me how they treated her I was furious, my mom is your typical wholesome Midwesterner. We usually stop in whenever I come home to visit but not anymore. Completely unprofessional. There are other cheese shops in the area that you should look into if your considering going here

Great place to buy cheese for recipes. Love the samples and the staff is always friendly and helpful. It is a wee bit crowded… wish they could get rid of some of the clutter… otherwise great place.

Be sure to stop in! Free samples! Friendly & Knowledgeable Staff! Try the hard cheese, the cheese spread, assortment of crackers, and jerky/sausage. Not being a cheese fanatic, I had several questions and general unfamiliarity with all kinds of cheeses, they offered suggestions and tastes after tastes! They even have candy & Chocolates(no samples) Also… If your in search of souvenir items they have shirts and mugs with Wisconsin items– not just Badgers & Parkers! It’s a real treat if you are a local, or just traveling through… STOPIN!

We have stopped here on occasion especially when we needed something quick for a party we were going to. Cheese, wine, salami, jams and canned goods. It is a nice shop. But the thing that helps this little shop is the staff behind the counter. They have samples up for you to try and are friendly and full of smiles. Always nice to get cheerful service. One warning, stay away from the bulk candies in baskets in the front. They are 50 years old and many are stale and awful. The candies knock them down a star. They should just toss the lot and make a little more room in their crowded store. Stopped here again recently. Bought some cheese and it was very good. The service was a little better than last time buuuuuut… their candy selection in the baskets still looks years old. Also the prices on the local Wineke’s food products is way over priced. So I have to lower one star. Cheese prices were competitive to high. We only stop here out of convenience, not because we like the place or the products that much. We probably will not shop here again. Will look elsewhere. Careful pulling in here. Accidents waiting to happen. Very busy road.

A nice ma & pa gift & cheese store, one of many more that once peppered the state. New interstate highways haven’t been a friend to most of these local cheese shops which usually divert traffic around the small towns they are located in. Fortunately Schultz’s was spared and given access to busy Hwy 151 where cars & trucks whiz by just several yards from the front door. Schulz features several specialty cheeses and spreads, most in the $ 7−12/llb. range. The 50-year old building is a classic Swiss Chalet. Worth a stop for a taste of Wisconsin.
