Stopped by spontaneously the morning of July 4th to see what Buttermilk Falls looks like during summertime. Previously, I’d only been here in the autumn. Just as pretty as I remember, and the train passing by was certainly an added bonus! Scared the crap out of me, actually. Should you ever find yourself near Buttermilk Falls when a train runs overhead near the top of the falls, you’ll know what I mean. Really loud, earth-shaking. This area is very pretty and worth a few minutes of your time. Give it a try. «He broke the mold when He made me. He made me very special.» ~Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire

This place is really pretty but if u want to swim go after its rained cuz the water level gets low during the summer if it has not rained recently. Also weekends can be crowded with screaming kids. I go only on weekdays. Its about 5 – 10 min hike to falls. Not alot of parking places either so if u go on a weekend go early. P. S. The swimming hole at the bottom of the falls in only about 2 – 4 ft deep and about as big as a medium size above ground swimming pool. Its seems safe for kids.
