2⁄5 by normal standards 4⁄5 by Beaver standards 20 minutes for drinks to come out Another 20 for dry, microwave-esque food to come out

Not the worst. Food is bland but looks fresh. Service is mediocre. Probably should opt for Wendy’s instead.

Don’t expect fancy. Do expect a really good meatloaf, and a nice piece of pie. Go with the standards, don’t try something that sounds unique expecting haute cuisine. Meatloaf. Chicken noodle soup. Turkey sandwich. Iceberg salad. Stay basic, and it is really charming and good. The service is nice, and if the owner is in he pops by our table to chat for bit. The place is small town and basic, and we stop there every single time we drive through.

Great patty melts, hot french fries. Stop and eat here. Not far off the highway, service was quick and friendly. You won’t be disappointed!

The place has charm, lots of charm, the fish and shrimp meal I had was just, OK. I guess on an upbeat note, the food was hand prepared vs the use of ones feet, to cook a meal. The wait staff was sort of the forehead vain popping variety. There to please. In honesty, along with the charm, the wait staff is second best part of this café. The food is just a bit hinky. I was aiming to blow my diet again, so I ordered fries. The little gal asked if I wanted gravy on them. Never expected that as an option. Deferred to the classic ketchup with French fries. Overheard some European types struggle with choosing a white gravy or brown gravy. That will pep up their American trip. The fish, hand cooked of course, looked anemic, like it needed a transfusion. Just a bit more oily than optimum, too. You could do worse I suppose, by going to a chain establishment.

Pot roast was delicious. My daughter had the special — some kind of chicken that she said tasted German(she loved it) and shrimp platter. We also loved the homemade apple pie. The only thing I would improve was the salad — if I wanted simply iceberg lettuce with dressing on it, I would have eaten at home. Service was excellent. We showed up 30 min before closing time, and we were treated kindly. In fact, a large group came in 15 min after we did. Cute, homey place. Just what we were looking for.

We were driving thru on our way home to vegas and we stopped in beaver to stretch our legs. We got to Arshels 15 min before closing and the staff was very nice and let us stay until after closing(9:30). The mushroom burger was well seasoned and very good! The BLT was good too! Highly recommended!

After staying in Beaver last night, I checked out Unilocal!to find a good breakfast place. We were not disappointed with Arshels Café. Pleasant, friendly service, and good basic breakfast food in perfect portions. It is a cute little diner and I recommend giving them a try.

I ate at arshels in beaver UT. The meal was advertised as homemade. but when I ordered the daily special it turned out to be homemade noodles with chicken broth and a little vegetables and a scoop of instant potatoes with 2 chicken strips that were not edible and no flavor. When I complained about the food an offer to pay 4 the salad and a coffee which I had consume but not the main course I was told by the owner he was going to have me arrested. I have about 30 years cooking and I wouldn’t have said that to my dog the star rating of one is the lowest on the scale I’d give it a 1 quarter the owner was rude had no sense of customer service or pleasing the customer.

As a fan of diners and offbeat places, I really wanted to like this place, but I have to say that I don’t get the 4 star reviews. I realize we’re talking about Beaver, UT and maybe there’s not much better in town, but really? First, in my mind it’s a café, not a diner. A quibble, I know, and it does have the hallmark pie case. To start with dessert first, we didn’t try the pies, so I can’t comment on them. I actually wish I had tried the chocolate peanut butter pie that others have raved about, because the strawberry shortcake was a HUGE disappointment. The«shortcake» looked and tasted like a muffin; in fact, it looked like it came out of one of those cellophane bulk containers of muffins you’d get in a cheapo motel breakfast. The strawberries were scant(and we debated whether they were fresh) and the whipped cream was watery. In the end half of it was left. My entrée was the pecan chicken and shrimp. What a weird dish. I guess it was chicken fried, but the coating ended up soft, maybe because of the sauce. Which, frankly, seemed like some honey with some chopped pecans. OK, but nothing to write home about. The two fried shrimp were fine, but had no apparent connection to the chicken. My wife had the salmon, which was fine. Sort of reminded her of Costco frozen salmon, but then she likes their salmon. It was on the sides that things really fell apart. The rice was mushy, the corn was canned, and my baked potato came out hard(clearly microwaved). These are things a café should not drop the ball on. On the other hand, the horseradish sauce for the fish was unique, and very tasty. On the upside, the salad was fine. Pretty basic iceberg lettuce with some shredded carrots and a couple olives, but it tasted fresh. And the service was very friendly and attentive. Bottom line is that with cafes like this I don’t expect fancy or avant-garde, I expect a slice of either Americana or local culture. This was neither. With a little effort, they could do better(maybe they do a better job for breakfast).

I was recommended to this restaurant for breakfast by the motel I stayed at. It had the look and feel of a 1950’s diner. Service was quick and very pleasant. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and while it gave the appearance of having no updates in 60 years, it was very well cared for and was in excellent condition. It was like stepping into the past, which is pretty cool. The coffee was quite good. I ordered the classy country breakfast, which is basically eggs Benedict with country gravy instead of hollandais sauce. The food was well prepared and delicious. It was nice to see such a gem being so well cared for and to also put out such good food.

This café what is nice. I could make any of the food at home, however I am not at home, I am traveling through on vacation. The ingredients were obviously from a restaurant bulk supplier, which I only slightly minded because the they were so fresh. The location most likely does not lean itself to a wide variety of farm fresh daily ingredients to create new unique recipe, though the menu is ideal for the location being in a smaller size rural community, a little way off the freeway. It is a nice break from fast food chin restaurants. The older style farm décor gave me second thoughts which were quickly resolved by the cleanliness of the whole place(even the restrooms). The staff was friendly.

Our group chose this over fast food and we’d do it again. Delicious and delightful coconut crème pie. One in our group chose the honey pecan chicken and shrimp and calls it sublimely unique, a three course meal in each bite. He enjoyed the sweetness of it and said it was like dessert & dinner at the same time! We were the only ones in the restaurant just before closing and service was fast, friendly, well-informed. Nice poster of Butch Cassidy history on the wall(available for sale here too). Enjoy!

Stopped by on our way to St. George. This is a nice little café right off the road. It has a nice small town feel to it. I had a burger for lunch and my wife had a club sandwich. The food and service was great. Next time I pass through I’ll be stopping.

[REVIEWFROMTHEROAD] Nice Diner on Main Street(In A Quiet Utah Town) SITREP After a long day of driving up from Glendale, CA, through Las Vegas, NV, taking the corner edge of AZ, and then hitting Utah, we jetted about 500 miles(not too shabby) and arrived in Beaver, UT. THESETUP By the time we got here, we checked into a hotel that my Uncle Gary’s buddy recommended. He also recommended Arshes Café as a nice diner stop to satisfy our dinner cravings. So we ended up here. THEMENU Very simple folded menu with some lunch and dinner combos listed throughout. It seems that they feature a regular dinner combo different days of the week as a discounted special. I opted exactly for the featured chicken-fried steak on that basis. MEALMETRICS The cost of the meal was around $ 11. On this basis, I am going to be realistic and say it was a solid decent meal, and the service was exceptional and the gal brought me all the condiments I wanted for my baked potato. The reality check: this certainly not the size steak or potato you’d get at Outback or Mortons. In fact it was not what I would really call a hearty meal. What WAS a hearty meal was the Breakfast Skillet I got at Denny’s earlier this morning for $ 8. But again — different location and meal metrics. So I was happy with what I got. DESSERT And there was an apple cobbler that(for extra) she put some vanilla ice cream on. THELOWDOWN On the road, I’m happy to get a solid meal deal as I felt I enjoyed at Arshels.
