The Indian restaurant Apna Chat Bhavan is a fantastic demonstration of said cuisine. It is a medium market combined with a quick service restaurant, both devoted to all kinds of dishes from India. Their menu is extensive, and so are the countless options of foods and beverages on display. Several tables are there, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I went with a Unilocal party to this venue in the office spaces of Beaverton. In due time, I selected the chicken samosa and egg puff. Both were good, though the chicken samosa was very memorable. I had the ladoo afterwards, which tasted like a ball of cookie dough. Regular American deserts such as cheesecake are there, but so are a bunch of Indian themes all throughout the vicinity. A person from our party shared lots of interesting breads and a dip composed of large chunks of potatoes. They bring out everything that the cuisine has to offer, while being fun and not too spicy. Whenever it was spicy, the Thumbs Up soda, a Coca-Cola product in India, easily erased the excess spicy flavor, much to my delight. These are the impulse purchases of Indian street food, which like many street food, is intended to be an easy classic. I would very much go again without hesitation if I find myself in the area. I had generally not had Indian food for awhile, but I might need to reconsider. Everything I had was under three dollars and except for about one okay thing, the egg puff, everything else was excellent. And for the icing on the cake, they contained a cricket match playing on a high definition television with a state of the art stereo system in a room with power outlets. This is decidedly a hidden gem.

Had Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani here and it tasted very good. It has the right flavor for dum biryani and the pieces were soft and fresh. Only complaint it’s a bit oily.

Had their veggie biryani, pakoras and aloo chaat. The veggie biryani was not the dum biryani(available only on Fri, Sat and Sunday). The pakoras were not hot at all. the aloo chaat was good. I have eaten here numerous times. Its always a hit or a miss when it comes to the quality. Biryani is priced reasonably. Rest, I don’t think do

I have always liked this place. To get typical indian snacks like egg puffs, punugulu, molaga bajji and channa Samosa. Their thali is good as well. Yesterday I tried their egg fried rice and chilli chicken. I have had the egg fried rice before, it tastes exactly like the road side ones you get back home and it was a safe bet! I was two minds about the chilli chicken, but then I went ahead and got it! It was so good I was surprised myself! The chicken well cooked with the spices spot on! I am glad I have found my goto spot for chilli chicken in hillsboro!

Buyer beware! Don’t pay for 3 veg. puffs and be given only 2! Keep an eye to make sure you get exactly what you pay for, not less The sweets are really fresh and good quality.

The food is just about ok ok. Their thali is decent. However the other day i tried the chole batura and was not all that great. They do have a good variety of sweets. However i have not tried any of them. Customer service is good, but the food is just about average.

What a great place — Indian grocery and restaurant. We were here when the kitchen was closed, but grabbed a mango lassi and chai… Yum! Lots of traditional pastries, snacks and other goods that are hard to find more broadly. We’ll be back!

If you love spicy food then you should go here. I tried the samosa chat and plain dosa, it was good. The price is also reasonable. It’s more like an Indian fast food.

The best Biriyani can be found here. I love their snacks and tea too.

Tried non-vegetarian thali. Food was good and plentiful(for $ 8.99). Good variety on the menu. Their Apollo fish was yummy and fresh! Would return.

This was one of my go to places right after it started, this place had great food. I donno what happened, quality and taste has gone down drastically. Now I go to this place only for their Chilli Chicken. Service has never been their plus point since they started business.

We stopped by at this place on a Fri evening for a meal. Food was pretty bad, refried, super oily and overcooked. Paneer Tikka we ordered had almost charred pieces of Paneer. We have had much better Indian food in and around Portland.

We decided to check this place out after we found out that it was a new Indian fast food joint to try. My review is solely based on the good we tried– raj kachori and paneer tikka veggie. Raj kachori– wasn’t even a real raj kachori! It was chole bhature with yogurt on top! It was too oily and spicy. Paneer tikka masala– over-done paneer which was fried a tad bit Much, too creamy and bland. Too chaotic at the register and they need a better system to dispense orders. Won’t be going there again, for sure. I had such high expectations of this place seeing so many people in the store, but was very disappointed.

I used to like the taste of the food very much here. From my past three experiences, I have seen the quality being going low. I found HAIR consecutively 3 times, even after letting them know first two times.

Pretty bad experience. I found a rusted large nail in my samosa chat. I brought it to the managers attention. No apology. He just said pick another item from the menu for free. Not going back there again.

I regularly get biryani(chicken, veg, goat) from apna chat bhavan, Malai kofta is my fav from this place. The chat items and indo-chinese are good too. I have never been disappointed with this place. Probably the most authentic indian food in portland.

Tastes good, But over priced. Good Idea to have indian food and groceries at a place. Their groceries are over priced too compared to California.
