Five star barbecue for Oregon! I’m from Texas, and during my time here in Oregon, I’ve yet to find any barbecue that even remotely compares. Dickey’s is a solid contender! Loved it. We went last night and the staff was super friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. It reminded me of Texas! I had the 2 meat plate with brisket and sausage with mac and cheese and friend okra as sides. If you have never tried fried okra, do so. Now. At Dickey’s. He had the pulled pork and brisket two meat plate. We both were very happy with our choices. There’s free ice cream and an awesome souvenir yellow cup that you can bring back for cheaper drinks. Overall, great spot that made this Texas girl happy!

Disgusting food! Not sure what is worse– service or food? I asked for a sample of the pork befor buying to entrees. The young girl just gives me a pinch and wants to put it directly in my hand. They have little cups they put BBQ sauce in. I asked for one of those and a spoon. I guess common sense is not so common these days?

The ribs were amazing! Thats all I’ve had so far but by and large blew Dave’s out of the water.

Probably the most mediocre pulled pork and polish sausage I’ve ever had. And the free ice cream tastes like frozen milk with some sugar added… very«meh» meal.

I came for the baked potato, let’s just state that up front. Baked potatoes are my thing. They’ve always been my favorite food, but apparently no one else’s because almost all of the fast food/takeout places that used to carry them(Arby’s, Carl’s Jr) don’t anymore. Wendy’s still does but… dehydrated chives. Ewww. And I don’t often have time at lunch to sit and have table service. So when I heard giant baked potatoes were at Dickey’s, I decided to give it a peek. I got the giant baker, which was a big ol’ russet with sour cream, cheese, bacon, and green onions. For a little more, you can get a meat added and I asked to get mine on the side.(The confused looks I got say that’s not a common request.) Anyway — good potato and very filling, though not terribly hot. The pulled pork I had on the side was pretty good, smoky but a bit on the dry side. I tried it with the«sweet» sauce(you can choose original, sweet, or hot) and it was a good choice. Sweet, but not overly so with a little spice. It matched well with the pork, and would be great with chicken although may be too sweet of a choice for say, brisket. I’d go back. It was pretty good, though I have to think my opinion is influenced by the westside being an absolute bbq void. Seriously, there is NO good bbq here so Dickey’s fills a niche. I do think that if there were more bbq options out here — or baked potato options — it might not be my first choice.

If we were in Texas Dickey’s would be a one or two star BBQ place. But what people in Portland know about BBQ(or donuts or coffee) you could put in a thimble and still have lots of room left over. The BBQ here was«OK» if not remarkable. I had the BBQ pork and sausage sandwich Wednesday special. The portion was rather stingy considering the $ 10 price… the bbq beans were ok… the potato salad not so much. Service was fast. So this place is better than Busters, taste-wise. But you get way bigger portions at Busters I probably wouldn’t go again mostly owing to the small sandwich size.

I absolutely love this place! This specific location hasn’t been open long. In the beginning it was rocky with the fact that all the basic crew was brand new. The managers are nice and the solid crew now is speedy and friendly. I’m in love with their waffle fries as well as the mac and cheese and their pork and brisket is to die for! I could definitely see this place going up from here!

Understand something. I have ties to Texas. I love Dickey’s — especially the original. So, when they opened two locations here in the Portland area, I was understandably excited. The one off Murray Road is well run. They have an ongoing problem with floor grease, but I considered that a minor thing, as the food’s consistently good. This location, although closer to me, won’t be getting any more of my business. The problem isn’t the food — it’s the same, at least as far as I can tell. It’s the cleanliness. Not only do they have the same issue with floor-grease, I made the huge mistake of using their bathroom yesterday afternoon. It was filthy, top to bottom — not only was the floor possessed of the same grease issue, but there was urine and grime in large quantities. The toilet base and floor mount were crusted in dirt; the soap-dispenser, mirror, and sink were coated in a grease and dirt film. There’s an old saying — ‘as goes the bathroom, so goes the kitchen.’ Out on the floor, I saw one earnest and hardworking young lady sweeping up and wiping down tables, but the rest of the staff when not plating food behind the counter were busy gossiping with each other and doing ‘something close to nothing’, as the Prince song from the ’80’s goes. I wish them well in correcting these problems — and in teaching the staff that an establishment like this is a high-maintenance operation, and when they’ve ‘got time to lean, they’ve got time to clean’. (Note: This review is for the Evergreen/Hillsboro location only.)

I had two meat platter(Rib and Brisket). Considering it was $ 13 meal w/drink, the portion was pretty small. Brisket was okay. Rib was terrible! The term«falling off from the bone» is no where close. The meat was so dry, i thought i was chewing a Jerky! Side order of Bean and Coleslaw was pretty good. Bread was okay. I would give one more chance near future for the Sausage, but not going back for the Rib!

Disappointing. Paid over $ 9.00 for a pulled brisket sandwich. I would have expected a moist, tasty, somewhat filling sandwich. What I got, was not that. The sandwich was bitter, dry and left me feeling sick to my stomach. You would have thought that they had accidentally jerked the brisket and tried to reconstitute the meat with the barbecue sauce. The coleslaw came from a bag, and tasted like it. It tasted heavily of vinigar, or something like that and I couldn’t finish it. On the bright side, they do offer complimentary soft serve ice cream in a kiddy cone. If you’re looking for good BBQ, look elsewhere.

False/misleading pricing on their menus. Take a look at the menu. They offer meat by the pound. It’s $ 13.50/lb for all of their meats. It doesn’t matter which meat you get, it’s $ 13.50/lb(excluding ribs). When placing my order I said«I would like to get a pound of meat, am I able to mix different meats or can it only be one?» The worker(a new employee) asked his manager if this was a normal request, the manager said«yes, we can divide it as low as quarter pounds». So I order a pound of meat, divided among 4 kinds($ 13.50 according to the menu). WRONG. After getting my receipt, I noticed I was charged $ 4 per ¼LB of meat. So $ 16 instead of $ 13.50. I asked to speak to the manager about this. His answer was hilarious, it made me lose all faith in this operation… Manager: «When you divide the meats the way you did, we round the prices up» Myself: «Excuse me? I’m not understanding» Manager: «A pound of meat is $ 13.50. If you divide that by 4 it’s ~$ 3.30 and we round it up to $ 4» Are you kidding me? When I buy a quarter pounder from McDonald’s they don’t round the price up to the nearest dollar without telling me. I don’t care if you’re rounding the price by pennies, you don’t just make up rules like that without having them on the menu. It’s sleazy and deceitful, I will not return.

Such great choices, such genuinely friendly crew. ½ the cost of the Portland high end BBQ restaurants, but the meats are just as good. Oh yeah, they’re «freaky fast»

The eternal quest for BBQ perfection… continues. This 1940s-era assembly line chow has been relegated to modern suburban strip mall forgettability. I did like the cheesy sausage hot links and onion chip thingies. Also, the people behind the counter were the very picture of good cheer and conviviality. I’m already fuzzy on the details concerning the rest of the transaction. For some reason, I had the notion that I’d get some free/discounted construction/painter pants or hospital scrubs or somesuch, for eating at this place. Not the right Dickey’s biz-ness, apparently… D’OH!!!

Pretty darn good. I have plenty of experience with Texas BBQ, having lived there for 20 years. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten at a BBQ joint inside a strip mall before; they are almost always standalone buildings. I don’t know how big the pit is at Dickey’s, but I assume it’s tucked in the back somewhere. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich with sides of BBQ beans and onion«tanglers». The beef was very good, with the right amount of sauce mixed in. The bun was very soft and would have benefited from a good toasting. The beans were very tasty, and the onion tanglers were essentially French-fried onion straws with a nice tasty breading. I would order all three again. This was a nice find and it means I don’t have to drive all the way out to Buster’s every time I want good BBQ.

So excited for this place to open. It’s pretty good, as good as Famous Dave’s. The only reason I knocked off a star is because I got my meat cold. The guy in front of the line has all the meats sitting on the counter. By the time it got to the cash register it was cold. So they way it works it’s a little like cafeteria style. You order your meat then sides and then you pay. They have sauces and other condiments on the side. And I just love that you get free ice cream with your meal and it is self serve and it’s also located on the side by the condiments and drinks.

Extreme letdown! Waited for so to try good BBQ that I set my expectations too high. Tried the 2 meat dinner, Brisket & Chicken. Sides of Coleslaw, Potato Salad. The Brisket was shredded & piled in the corner. Guess I was set for the sliced. Chicken was thick sliced but cut into 3 inch pieces. Tried each without sauce to test flavor, sadly there was none to speak of. They put hot food onto cold metal trays. Meal was lukewarm. The Slaw had less than no flavor! Wife waited for Polish sausage, fresh out of the smoker after 15 minute wait, again arrived lukewarm and too spicy to eat. Presentation with food items spread far apart makes meals look small so I was worried before I made it to the table. Left very disappointed.

Went here for dinner tonight. It was good. I would have liked more beef on the beef and cheese baker(baked potato) as it was very light(maybe 2 tablespoons of brisket) in comparison to the amount of baked potato and cheese. I enjoyed the green beans as well. The fact they have free soft serve ice cream cones is nice although I was too full to try it. My husband liked his sandwich which was a combination of polish sausage and pulled pork. He said the barbeque beans while spicy weren’t that flavorful. He said the coleslaw was sweet and creamy and he liked it. The place seemed really busy overall. I can see us returning in the future. The menu is a bit confusing so check out the website so you have an idea of what you want before you order. Can’t wait to try the mac and cheese, potato salad and fried okra sometime. They had a lot of good looking options on the menu. This place is near pizza schmizza and Jamba juice in Tanasbourne.

The menu was a little hard to decipher. The food was OK, ribs were dry. Best part though about this place is the free kids meals on Sundays and free ice cream cones. So they get a 4 star for value, but they need to improve on the quality of their BBQ meats.

Being that I’m a Southerner at heart, I was ecstatic to see that there would finally be a BBQ joint located near me! At the same time, I was skeptical about the quality of the sauces and the meats, since I was use to being disappointed by NW eateries that claimed to specialize in BBQing. This place clearly was on another level. Not only was the meat cooked to near perfection and seasoned just enough to tantalize the taste buds, but the sauces had a rich and authentic flavor. Again, previous experiences left me with a literal sour taste in my mouth, since the sauces seemed to have come out a .99 cent bottle. All in all, I look forward to blaming my future potbelly on this place and if you’re a BBQ lover, you should definitely check it out.

Oh yeah! I’ll add more when my hands are clean! Closest Bbq joint to the house and it is a Dickey’s.
