I signed up for an estimate through Costco. I set an appointment and inadvertently missed it. I called to apologize and rescheduled. Their salesman showed up an hour early and called me by the wrong name. Oh well– stuff happens right! He proceeded to measure and then knocked on my front door. He was fully armed with his kit and basically forced his was into my house. I informed I didn’t need a demo or a sales pitch– I just needed a price. He said «oh well– we should talk colors first.» I informed him again that I just needed to understand the cost. He smiled and said…“what would you say if I safi $ 10,000 ?” I replied «ridiculous». He smiled and said «how about if I said $ 5,000?» I again said «ridiculous». I asked him to stop playing games and just tell me the cost. He the inform d me it would $ 7500! This is for 100′ of gutters! At his is right around 10X the cost of regular gutters! I informed him this was a non-​starter and asked him to leave. Their sales process is aggressive, irritating, and all, that is missing is a bad suit, bad haircut, and a cheap cigar. Run away as fast as you can!

I’ve had leafguard for 12 years ever since I developed a disability, and they lived up to their promises. This week I asked them to repaint scratched gutters caused by my house painters and they came out fixed it with any charge. Two fast and efficient workers. A big thumbs up!

After a brutally long sales pitch that was wrought with factual errors, the price I was quoted was more than replacing my roof! For the difference in price between Leafguard and Overhead Doors, I could hire someone to clean my gutters every four months for eighty years. In addition, after the scare stories regarding other systems’ roof damage, the LG system doesn’t guarantee against that kind of damage either. The only guarantee is that they will come clean out clogs. No word on water flows which don’t enter the gutters (very likely in high flow situations, inside corner valleys, or if any large debris diverts the flow), or damage to the house from the gutters. Seems like just a very expensive gutter cleaning service and only moderately functioning gutters. All that and the strong arm sales pitch, and I’m running the other way.

Their sales pitch (and Costco demo) says nothing will ever get in these gutters because water will wrap around the metal lip and into the gutter while leaves and debris will fall down from the lip to the ground. Unfortunately, reality is a little more complicated than that. Especially if you live under a bunch of fir trees, the needles get a little sticky when wet and end up forming little bridges across the gap between the lip and the outside of the gutter, allowing water to flow right over the gap and down onto the ground. Also, it’s complete bs that nothing will get in the gutter. I’ve had downspouts get completely filled up with needles and back up, just like regular gutters. To keep them working properly, you have to get up and clean off the needles at least 3 times per year. Considering some of our gutters are 25 feet off the ground, that’s not a trivial thing to do.
My bottom line — if your roof is going to have lots of evergreen needles coming down on it, LeafGuard isn’t worth the extra money you pay. If you have normal leaves or very little debris, they work great.

I scheduled an in home estimate at Costco for leaf guard. My appointment was at 3pm. MY appointment finally ended at 6.40pm. Yup 3 hours and 40 minutes. BRUTAL. I told the guy I had to make dinner for my child and he said go ahead I can wait. Really how about you leave. I told him I needed to think about it considering the financial investment 12,000. He then wanted me to talk to his manager who tried to strong arm sell me. I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman from the 70’s. I called leaf guard to discuss my experience. I was impressed when I got a call back from the VP of leaf guard he left a message on 11÷22÷12 and said he would call me again on Monday 11÷26÷12. Well it is now 12÷4÷12 and I have not heard back.
The sales pitch fell a little flat for me. The Costco deal is 60% off installation but when I was giving the bid there was no breakdown of material vs installation. The salesman said it worked out to be 9% of the total cost but he was going to bump it to 10% HUH? really? so my 12,000 job the cost of installation works out to be $ 1800 and materials, set up and profit are 10,200. But they never show you a break down of cost you have to figure it all out yourself and considering how secretive they are about the cost good luck.
My 2 neighbors are happy with their leaf guard gutters. and Had the salesman had a clue and left after 60 – 90 minutes I probably would have them too. But there is no way on gods green earth I would ever let a Leaf guard salesman in my front door again.
If you decide to have leaf guard come give you an estimate be prepared for sticker shock. and make sure you have somewhere to be 90 mins after your appointment time.

So it is a couple weeks after the installation. The gutters are made with aluminum which can make them noisy. I have called Leafguard over the weekend and there have been someone to take my call. Every person I have spoken with invites me to call again with any concerns.
