Get it in writing!!! My daughters first appartment after graduating collage and getting a job as a teacher. I drove over from central oregon for the day to look at apartments for our daughter. We looked a about 6 to 8 places and found this place off the beated path in a residental area. The price was in the $ 700 range for a 1 bedroom 1 bath. When a unit came open in this complex I came back over from central oregon to look at it with our daughter. Here is what we found. 1) carpet was old and very stained in several areas . 2) holes in the carpet in areas. 3)Broken off cabinet trim When were did the walkthrough with the manager, we were told that the carpet would be cleaned and if the stains did not come out then the carpet would be replaced. Well guess what??? We drove over from central oregon with the truck and trailer load of belongings and furniture and when we arived the carpet still had stains and holes and was very warn out looking. I brought this to the managers attention again and they would have a new cleaner come out and take a look. Well what do we do with the load we just brought over 150 mile each way??? We had no choice but to unload it and trust the manager at her word, that if the stains and holes did not come out, they would replace the carpet. Stains still there and if we wanted new carpet the manager said the rent would go up to payt for the new carpet. So we moved the daughter into a new house about 3 months later! Warning!!! If you rent there and things need to be done to bring it up to standards get it in WRITINGBEFORE you sign the lease and move yout belongings in!!!
