Sounds Unique

Where do I start? First, Ken did the work a year ago (Oct 2014), but I figured I would get to this eventually. I found Ken via the Viper website; he was the only authorized dealer that wasn’t Best Buy or some other random chain shop. I called him up and made an appointment to go talk to him and also, so he could look at my current system in my car. We discussed what I wanted and what would work best. He gave me the ins and outs of how the remote start would work on my manual Mazda.
Second, he went above and beyond by having new keys cut for my Mazda. I didn’t want to carry around my switchblade key and a remote starter, so he offered to get them cut, with his business discount. It came with many hoops that we didn’t foresee and he jumped through all of them… only charging me what Mazda charged him.
Third, he may have had my car for longer than expected, however, he fixed the horrible wiring done by Mazda (or the company that installs their alarms). I know all about «clean» wiring and I absolutely love that he likes to keep things organized and clear/​clean. During the rewire, he found a wire that could have potentially caused me to have an accident. So grateful he found that before anything happened. After the install, I saw that my license plate light was out, after checking the bulbs and fuse, I thought it may have been the install. Ken had me come over so he could look at it, knowing full well it had nothing to do with the install. He took a look at it and fixed it. Again, nothing to do with his install. Who does that? Not a big box company, that’s for sure!
Lastly, he is the sole owner of his company and works out of his home. I personally am okay with this because if he wasn’t great at what he does, he wouldn’t stay in business. It also means he can help me out, above and beyond, because it is his company. It’s why I don’t like going to big box stores for this sort of thing. The people aren’t as educated nor as experienced. Maybe one day, I’ll use him for sound system installation as I’m sure he’s awesome at that too.

I’ve been wanting to add a Bluetooth player to my car, but a family crisis with loads of anticipated commuting had me calling Kenny, asking if he could install a unit ASAP. He got all the parts together and installed one the very next day. He’s hardworking, honest, reasonable, and a local business. I try to keep my money in the community and if you choose Sounds Unique, you’ll be glad you did.

Sounds Unique is a high quality car audio/​alarm shop! Kenny, the owner, is an honest, hard working, salt of the earth person.
I first met Kenny when he helped me pull my XM stereo from my totaled Jeep before the insurance company took it away for good. He worked super quick and charged very little – and drove to the auto body shop to do it! I then had him install the stereo into our little commuter car at his shop. The shop is very professional looking on the inside – so those of you who besmirch him for operating «in a garage» behind his house need to be corrected. They obviously didn’t go inside the shop or office!
Kenny did an excellent job, and entertained me with funny stories to boot (at no extra charge, haha). Don’t be scared by the $ 65 per hour charge. He’s super knowledgable and a fast worker, because he knows exactly what he is doing! The whole install took an hour. That’s all… and I’m confident it was done correctly. Kenny has our business for life.

Ken really goes out of his way to help and is very knowledgeable about instillation. Both times he really took the time to trouble shoot issues. The shop is a no frills place, but Ken knows his stuff and is very professional.

Boy, I’ve just gotta echo the 5-​stars others have given. I had an audio problem in my RV, and seeing the Unilocal reviews (as well as having another audio place say «sorry, I can’t do that»), I called Ken. From the getgo he was friendly, honest, enthusiastic about doing what he could to help. Turned out it was a relatively simple fix, but it took a full 30 minutes of Ken’s time to troubleshoot step by step what was causing the problem (and this while he was in the midst of a couple other big jobs, plus trying to wrap things up for an upcoming vacation!). «How much do I owe you?» «Don’t worry about it. Here, I’ll give you a few business cards.» OK, so how good-​as-​gold is THAT for unlimited word-​of-​mouth praise from this satisfied customer? Thank you, Ken. :-)

I’d give Kenny 7 stars if I could. I am completely impressed with the knowledge, care and customer service that I found at Sounds Unique. As a long time audio nerd and someone who obsesses about their car I was nervous about working with someone new but my stereo stopped working and I didn’t have a choice. There was no way that I was going to a big box store to fix a custom built car stereo system. Thanks to Unilocal,I found Kenny. He fixed my stereo the same day that I called and he is my new stereo guy. I am so happy to have tunes back and beyond impressed with Sounds Unique.

Ken was great! He took the time to talk with me over the phone before making an appointment. He was able to fix my DVD player in the van quickly!

I am the owner of Martindale’s Communication Co. and Ken use to be my 12 volt Audio manager for my store until I closed that portion of my business. Ken has always been a obsessive person for detail. He takes pride on anything that he works on and refuses to do a second rate job. I’ve had him work on my personal vehicle, my wife’s vehicle and I’ve referred many people to his shop. His shop is behind his house in a three car garage and isn’t in a high rent business district. That’s one reason that his prices are more than fair. If you want to be sure you get what you pay for I recommend that you bring it to Ken, you won’t be sorry and he does stand behind his work.

Ken was the sweetest guy I have ever met. I called ahead of time for a broken stereo and while every other shop in town was asking at least $ 35 to look at it (another $ 90) to fix it, Ken took a look at for free! Within 30 min he had found the problem, explained to me how shitty the people that installed my stereo were, and fixed the system. He was great at keeping me in the loop with what he was doing to my car and was extremely helpful.
No, this isn’t some big old shop and it might be hard to find but he will give you the best directions on the phone and he will give you the best price. I know I won’t go anywhere else for my car stereo system again!

Most certainly recommend Ken for his phenomenal work. It’s really difficult to find a technician as honest and thorough as Ken in this auto business these days. I’ve made several visits over the past 2 – 3 years for different types of stuff, and he has always striven to provide full satisfaction with my car.
He kinda runs the business by himself, so when he’s booked up you may find yourself difficult to find him, but he tries to make himself available as much as possible. He sometimes worked through weekends for me just for the passion and love of cars. He also readily answered questions by text or phone anytime.
He’s shop isn’t the fanciest shop around, but I believe his work quality surpasses others. It was worth every penny for me so far. If you really care about your car I would seriously consider making a visit and talk to Ken.

I have been trying to get a hold of this place for about a week. Seems that they are never around. So I decided to drive to this place. Took me about 10 minutes driving in circles to find this place. And I found out why, this place isn’t even a shop. It’s a residential garage space which kinda gives me a bad feeling if anything (such as warranty issues) goes wrong.
The other thing was that for a small mom and pop place they aren’t too price friendly. I was quoted around $ 300 – 400 for an alarm install (No alarm system). Ouch! So I decided to opt out due to cost, lack of presence, and warranty wariness for a shop. I ended spending $ 160 for an alarm + install elsewhere.

Ken is easily the most friendly, accessible, and earnest stereo guy you’ll ever meet. He will go out of his way to help you with the smallest item and is always eager to help. This is a small business worth supporting. Stay away from the Car Toys etc, and go to a guy who knows what he’s doing and will always treat you fairly.
