Good food and burger. I wish there were fries instead of chips. Drink and service were top notch with super fast service. Should be back again but it is not my ATF(all time favorite).

Pros: The home-made chips were awesome, the atmosphere is great, good beer selection, the burgers are thoughtfully composed and probably good if done right. HOWEVER: If you’re going to serve me a well-done burger, fine, I’ve choked down a fair number of well-done burgers in my time. But don’t give me a HUGE spiel about how you cook your burgers to order, and how medium-rare is a warm, red center, and are you SURE you can handle that? Yes, I’m sure, emphatically sure, my friend and I told you so, happily awaiting a delicious, properly-cooked burger. But instead, we BOTH got a grey, sad center. Don’t get my hopes up and then dash them like that, my little heart can’t take it. Maybe the bartender thought I was from the mid-west or something. Between the extensive seminar on the nature of medium-rare and her comment about«you’ve probably never heard of the beers on tap», maybe she thought I’d fallen off the hay cart and needed to be eased into things. All I needed was a medium-rare burger. I would have accepted a well-done burger with less pretentiousness. But neither was in the offering. I probably won’t be back.

I’m almost afraid to review this place, it can be tough enough to get a seat as it is. However, the Fireside Grill is an absolutely exceptional establishment in every regard. The food borders on art; I highly recommend the vesuvius and bourbon burgers. They are sloppy, soggy, and ridiculously delicious. The bourbon burger is a smoky-sweet-savory-little bit-spicy masterpiece. I’d recommend the house chips with gorgonzola dip, but all of the sides are delicious. And then, we have the house cocktails for the knockout blow. They are ambitious and experimental without pretension; with balanced flavors and the right amount of booze(i.e. Just a smidge too much). There’s a cocktail or two for every season. I’d recommend the Porch Swing, the capri sun, and the spicy pineapple for summer. They’re playful drinks with a refreshing character and a diverse array of complementary flavors. The whiskey tin is a sweet, smoky, slightly sour refresher fit for every occasion, as is the simple gingery lemon goodness of the Rosco. There are spicy, heavier drinks for winter and autumn. The«hot apple» is essentially Christmas in a glass, and«The Trees are Sleeping» is an orangey/spicy knockout punch. The icing on the cake, however is the owner and staff. Most times, most days, there’s a decent amount of people in the bar. One notices that empty plates and glasses do not last long on the tables; the waitstaff are among the hardest working in Portland. They are also some of nicest servers you will meet. Lastly, there’s Dave, the owner. He’s right there in the trenches, taking orders, cooking food and bussing tables. You won’t know who he is until some poor sap makes the mistake of acting rude. I’m not going to spoil the surprise and tell you who he is.

Full disclosure, I only came here late Saturday to visit friends and all I had was the street taco appetizer. I definitely want to come back and try more as I loved the ambiance and atmosphere. The music playing took me back since that was what was popular when I was in high school(2000-01), a little outdated, but might have been a theme night or what have you. The tacos themselves were good, the sauce was a little bland and overall could have used a bit more flavor. Either way, I intend to give this another go and update my review shortly.

Still fantastic! Always pretty busy, but the bartenders and servers are speedy, but cool. Patio is private. Food continues to hit the mark. A true gem.

The Fireside Grill is okay, I have had better everything was just too greasy. The potato chips were over cooked and greasy, the dipping Gorgonzola sauce was so strong that I could not eat it. All you could taste was an overpowering amount of Gorgonzola mixed with mayo. I tried two different burgers and despite the amount of stuff on them it lacked real flavor. It was such a bland mishmash that they were not super good. The inside was dark and boring, very generic looking and the service was not much better. In the end I would rather somewhere else like Red Robbin or Five Guys at least that tastes good and is not super greasy.

We Be Clubbin’! Club it on my burger I mean(add bacon and ham)! This place has the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had in my life! It’s legit! Came by on a Tuesday evening for dinner, sat outside and was immediately assisted by the servers. They have a good beer list, they didn’t have any blondes on tap though. Full bar. My husband ordered he Fireside which includes a fried egg and I got the Crispy chicken burger. Both were beyond awesome! The fireside came perfectly medium rare and the egg broke open perfectly. The crispy chicken burger was perfectly crispy, not oily and just enough breading and so Juicy!!! And the bacon!!! To die for!!! And service was great! I can’t wait to come back, but make sure you have a sitter as minors are not allowed!

I love this place, great food, drinks, and service. I just wish they did not get rid of their Scottish eggs. The atomesphere is perfect for a mild night out celebrating. I really enjoy my burger three times in a row now. I will definitely be coming back.

Stopped by this little place late on a Wednesday; you’ll drive right past it if you’re not looking, as it’s tucked behind some larger establishments. Service was very friendly, but slow at times. That’s no bother for me — as long as the servers are kind, I won’t tack off any stars. I understand what it’s like to work at an understaffed place that gets relatively busy; I get it. I really didn’t understand the positive reviews on how wonderful the food is here; my boyfriend and I both came to the consensus that it was mediocre at best, although there were some fire drinks(see what I did there?). He got a burger and I got mac and cheese, as I always do everywhere that serves it. His burger was incredibly dry. I don’t know how he ate it. My mac and cheese was«meh;» the sauce was way too goopy, and it just wasn’t up my alley. We probably won’t be coming back here, especially since we can find much better food for our buck in Portland.

So we went here for a Mother’s Day brunch and had mimosas and coffee, for a classic start. Then our food was spectacular(French toast and Sausage and then apple butter eggs Benedict) but one of the plates was dropped on the way out to us, and they were so polite to give us a discount when they definitely didn’t need to do that. TL;dr great food(try the apple Benedict thing), and wonderful service. Cannot recommend enough.

Updating my 5 star review from a few days ago and proud to say it remains 5 stars. Would add an extra star if I could! My husband and I stopped by for Sunday brunch and started with delicious mimosas and coffee. I ordered the apple butter eggs benedict and my husband got the Monte Cristo Sandwich. My husband loved his breakfast but I was disheartened to find that my eggs were overdone in my benedict. I talked to the server and a fresh benedict was delivered to me straightaway. Delicious, runny egg with perfectly toasted English muffin and the side order of potatoes was equally tasty. The restaurant was bustling but the staff was polite and friendly. We look forward to coming back again and again!

Fireside Grill is now a shell of its former self. We had been regulars here for several years. Could always count on a good dinner and great service. We went tonight and left incredibly disappointed. Obviously they have decided that cutting corners is the wave of the future. Chicken strip sandwich now contains 2⁄3 of the meat. The burgers have also shrunk. Sweet potato chips undercooked. Mac and cheese sauce is very runny now. But the worst was the Scotch egg. It arrived at our table very overcooked, nearly burnt. I requested a new one and that one also came back the same. Inedible. Really not a difficult task to accomplish but I don’t have all day to see how many attempts it takes to not burn the damn breading. You’ve blown it, Fireside. We won’t be eating here again. It’s really disappointing to us. We sure used to enjoy coming in.

Still like to chill here as per my original 5 star review, but food quality has been declining. Tougher meat on the steak wrap, soggy sweet chips and no one at the helm. Service is same though and location/seating area is fine, but the food is heading in the 3 star direction. Don’t forget what made you special, we really like your place.

Not a fan. I was excited to get the Scotch Egg — did not finish it. Sat at the bar only to wait about a bit to get greeted, on a slow night. I could definitely see the cook was sitting at the bar. Once we ordered food, mistake, the cook got up and went into the freezer. From the bar, you can see the whole kitchen, which is a mistake in this setup. I did not enjoy really anything about this spot. After seeing these other reviews of this location I will have to give this another chance. Maybe not soon, but I will be back to give it another shot solely off of reviews.

I won’t lie, I forgot what I had to eat(sandwich), and some brown ale beer. But it doesn’t matter because this place rocks! Waitress was super chill and prompt. Parking outside super sucks, so good luck on that. Place was casual and low key, which was nice. Great place in Beaverton!

I am sad… Why? There aren’t more than 5 stars. My wife and I quite often are caught between my wives vegetarian diet, and my «vegetables arent food, food eats vegetables» approach to eating. We wanted to go out for dinner, and in going through our normal list of restaurants, we just couldn’t come up with one that sounded great. On a whim, we decided to try out the Fireside Grill… Boy were we pleasantly surprised. A bit of a wait, but 15 – 20 minutes on a friday night at 6pm is perfectly reasonable. The hostess was courteous, and the was taking drink orders while we waited. The house drinks have humorous names, but more importantly were well made, and strong. The staff was hopping, and were apologetic, but when people are holding tables after they paid, is no ones fault. They offered bar seats, but we declined. Everyone was friendly, and seeing the food being put to the line, I was getting hungry. Side note, the iced tea, was clearly fresh brewed. I wasnt planning on drinking, and little things like crappy tea can ruin a meal for me, not here. great tea. I had the scotch egg, my wife had the gnocchi sticks. Both were amazing, perfectly cooked, and CLEARLY made in house. More importantly, the sauces on both were freshly made, and tasted amazing. The scotch egg was exactly what i was hoping for, a carnivores delight, egg surrounded by savory deep fried to perfection, the dipping sauce was a mayo based sauce was perfect. The chef’s take on «bar food» ie, mozzarella sticks, was amazing. mozzarella wrapped in gnocchi dough, deep fried, with a fresh marinara… well done chef. excellent take on typical bar fair When looking over the menu, one thing that I notice was the statement on how the filet would NOT be cooked. Nothing over medium! Well said. I had the rib eye, cooked perfectly to medium rare. Seasoned perfectly. the sides of beans and salad. were, well vegetables :) but they were cooked perfectly as well. My wife had the smoked mac and cheese. freshly made cheese sauce, another rarity at a «bar/grill». But then it happened. and man did it happen. the«bar tender’ came over to refill our drinks,(I was still on iced tea) but remember, all the staff was working everywhere, no idle hands anywhere. We started talking, and a bottle on the topshelf had my eye. Turned out to be a irish whiskey. we started talking further, about what bourbons and ryes I like, and if I had any in mind. I said, simply, one that I hadnt tried before. He asked if I had a price range, he said he had something in mind, a Willet XCF that was not typically imported into Oregon. Perfect, and he SERVEDITPERFECTLY. meaning, with the ice on the side, so I could add it as I needed it. To be honest, I’d go back for the steak. I’d go back, even if my food was horrible, just so my wife could get a great meal… But to be able to get a great steak, a great meal for my wife. And they have an amazing whisky selection!!! ill be back many times in the future. When I left, I wanted to say thanks to the person who recommended the whiskey, turns out he was Dave the owner. Stop by. Say hi. Come in for the food. stay for the whisky!

So close to 5 stars. If only my husband would of said something when he received his lunch I am sure the staff would of fixed it. We were just about finished and I decided to try one of his fried chips that he order as a side. Something definitely went wrong. They were so soggy. No crisp to them at all. I asked my husband«Were they good when you go them?» He said no. The chips were totally soggy and greasy from the time they arrived. Bummer. I have been here before years ago when I lived in Beaverton. Not sure if it is the same owner but it was nothing fancy then and still looks about the same. A place that would not draw you in, let alone see it from Hall. It is in a very small strip mall tucked away behind another building. We arrived around 12:30 and every seat in the house was taken except 3 bar stools. There was a party of 6 waiting for a table and they were still waiting when we received our lunch. As we sat down we were greeted by a cheerful bartender, giving us menus and asking what we would like to drink. My husband and beer! He tried 5 and the bartender offer another. One of her favorites for him to try also. He really liked the selection he tried, in other words most gave me that beer face… so I went with a Spanish Coffee. It was terrific and I like how they flavor their whipped cream. My husband had a burger, rare, and it was perfect. The chips we won’t mention again. I had the breaded chicken sandwich with sweet potato chips. When the server said it had cinnamon on them(and I like cinnamon) I was a little reluctant. If I didn’t know it had cinnamon I wouldn’t have known. They were like sweet potato fries except cut into chips. Very good. I took half of my sandwich home because it was too much to eat. The chicken was in the form of chicken strips. I am sure they are hand breaded in house. Breaded in Panko. I find most places that offer breaded items are extremely salty. These were perfect, light and crispy !!! Definitely be back!

On a dreary Saturday morning, brunch at Fireside hit the spot. Our server was lovely and attentive, sweetly singing along with Amy Winehouse, our food was hot and tasty, the coffee is GOOD, and the prices weren’t bad. The tab was $ 22.50 for breakfast and coffee for two people plus tip. Many if not most breakfast items were $ 9. The breakfast wrap, while a bit compact, tasted good and came with a spicy«chipotle chutney.» Dining companion added in some additional veggies for no charge. My scrambled eggs and housemade sausage patty breakfast was just right. The sauage had a particularly good flavor, fennel I think. The fried potatoes were a touch oversalted but a little ketchup(either housemade or that Portland Ketchup– but definitely not Heinz corn syrup ketchup) took care of that. There is tv with a fireplace on, which I found humorous rather than tacky, and soccer on other tvs. I read an appealing and extensive cocktail list. I also watched a mimosa being made and I can tell you the ratio was more champagne than juice. No minors. This explains why Ive not been before. I think it’s a solid four. We had a nice brunch experience. Next time cocktails though. Totally.

We went here for dinner on a weeknight. The bottom line is that the food is fantastic, the restaurant is a little odd, and the service is a disaster(but friendly). This place is not really equipped with a waiting area. When we got there, all the tables were full but the waitress told us one of the tables were leaving so she could seat us in a couple minutes. It ended up being closer to 15 – 20 minutes, and we had to awkwardly stand around right next to the bar where people were eating while we waited. When we were seated, I noticed there was a pile of boxes randomly piled in the corner behind a booth. It almost looked like trash that they didn’t have anywhere to put, so they stacked them behind a booth in the dining room. I’m pretty low maintenance about restaurants, but this was unsightly. The waitress promptly took our drink order and my friend ordered a wheat beer. About 5 minutes later she brought him a sample of another beer(an IPA) and said the keg had blown so try this. We were confused, but assumed she brought it to tide him over while they changed the keg. She came back 10 minutes later and asked if he liked it. He said«not really,» and she replied«well I’m not changing the keg anytime soon so…» She then took our food order and ended up bringing him a beer menu, but never returned to see if he wanted another beer. The food came out really fast(probably within 8 minutes) and was awesome! I wasn’t particularly hungry so I ordered a cup of their soup(Parmesan potato bacon) and a side salad. They had a ton of delicious sounding dressings, and I went with the honey rosemary balsamic and oil. The salad was fresh and the dressing had a great flavor. The soup was incredible! It was creamy and had chunks of bacon and potato in it. Two of my friends ordered burgers and said they were excellent. Our waitress disappeared until it was time to pay. When she brought the check, the beer my friend never received was on it, so we had to flag down the bartender to have it removed. We also asked the waitress to split the bill(we had two couples who just had entrees so it would have been an easy split) and she seemed sort of confused by the request and told us to write what what we wanted on each check and then disappeared again. She never returned so we scrounged up cash and handed the check to the bartender on the way out. The food really is incredible(definitely 5 stars) and it’s worth dealing with the oddities of the restaurant and the subpar service. There is a lot of potential for this place to be excellent with a couple changes, though.
