Treasure Island

It place sucks… bad. Totally dead and it should stay that way. We were the only one’s there on a Friday night and now I know why. Terrible food. No selection, old and nasty. This place should be closed. So bad that we left after we ate (or didn’t eat) and had chicken at Popeye’s across the way instead because were were so hungry. This could be the worst place I’ve ever gone to. Your tip: Don’t waste your time or money.

With the exception of how busy it always was I used to love this place. Excellent food for a buffet. I’ve been twice in the past four months, and besides the building and furniture I can barely recognize it. Much of the buffet has been empty or close to being so, the food’s often only verging on warm, and some is as fresh as re-​microwaved left over Chinese tv dinner. You get the point. Now I should say at this point I don’t like giving bad reviews (plenty of hipsters out there coming up with those witty assaults) and I want what I write to be useful. I hadn’t planned on saying anything as any business can have a bad day – maybe they were short staffed last time – but twice in a row? Whatever happened its clear, at least comparing the ease of finding parking now to the challenge it was just a few years back, that I’m not the only person who feels this way. Heck, I don’t generally feel embarrassed to take someone out so stab me with a pitch fork times two. Something’s gotta improve – though I’ll give’m a two because they are better than «best» Teriyaki which can’t even steam white rice correctly. Maybe at least my fortune cookie will come true?

My girlfriend wanted to go to I-​Hop and was practically in the driveway. In a desperate attempt to flee the nightmare that beset me, I lunged at the first place that came in to view. No, lets go to treasure Island! Chinese and American Buffet! I talked her into it and before we knew it we were inside. The place was organized terrible, there were only a few people inside, and my momma always told me not to judge but they were mostly fattys. There was video poker here too which seemed ridiculous for the setting that they were going for. The food was so terrible that by the time I was done, I actually wished I had gone to I-​Hop.

This is a 2.5. It definitely has gone downhill, as other reviewers have pointed out.
Yet somehow it still draws people. It’s not even that cheap… not sure what the appeal is, really.
We have taken family here when we’re in a hurry to eat before a movie or an outing. It’s already cooked, you walk in, load up your plate, eat, pay, and leave.
They usually have a fairly decent assortment of things if you go around lunch or dinnertime. If you go in between typical eating times things are not so appetizing, and its clear they may have been there a while. That said.
Princess likes egg flower soup, sweet and sour sauce ladled onto steamed rice, some of the chicken stuff, and the green beans.
I like all that (ok, no pink goop for me) with the little spare ribs, eggplant, and sometimes shrimp.
Princess’ dad likes the lo mein and some of the mixed up stuff, whether it’s cashew chicken or some broccoli chicken type of thing.
I do think Best Teriyaki’s chicken broccoli next door is often a better option. I dont’ always get agreement from the group… but sometimes I do.
They have a strange assortment of dessert, but my mom likes the almond cookies, they remind her of ones she used to get in San Francisco.

Just vile food– cheap, old and stale. My dog would have a hard time getting this fecal matter down. The cook looks like he has not bathed in days. The place is dead. 6 people at 6pm on a Sat. I knew I was in for trouble the moment I sat down. Head over to Jin Wah Restaurant for some real Chinese because this place is the worst I ever had.

There really isn’t much food selection here. The grill seems to be the best part out of the entire place. You get to choose your meat and vegetables and they grill it for you. But as far as the buffet menu… it’s a little too greasy for me.
Everytime I go here, there is barely anyone there. It always feels so empty. I guess that has a lot to do with the quality of the food there. I guess it’s not a bad place to go, if you go every once in a while. But I’d rather just go to the Best Teriyaki right across the street for Chinese food rather than spend more money on the buffet.
I remember it being packed a few years back. I am guessing they might have changed owners.

There must have been a point when this buffet was good. The building is huge. I can’t imagain that they could have ever filled it with patrons with the horrible food they served us a couple nights ago.
I don’t think that I have ever had such a bad chinese buffet. The green salad was even bad!
I believe I would have to be paid to go back. I hate to leave one star reviews but they deserve it.

Here right now. The worst. Simply the worst of all time. I’m curious if John stamos knows they are impersonating him with their food but for real. This is uncalled for. Utterly painful to swallow down my moist throat this sloppy tooth man flute. Pooth clute

I’m not a fan of buffets. So here’s the secret to why I actually really like this place… Well, two secrets. 1. They have an amazing hot pot. And i was just there on a late thursday night, all the ingredients were fresh with your choice of meats (that they bring out fresh from the back) and lots of fresh veggies. There’s nothin like it on a cold wet Portland winter. And secret 2? They actually have a menu. With this awesome spicy seafood noodle dish. So don’t go for the buffet… Go for the real treats from this place!

Awful… simply awful.
Not sure why I stopped here for lunch but I guess I felt as if I just needed to get my ticket punched in my survey of Beaverton eateries.
Generally, I have low standards for AYCE Chinese buffets, but this place has established a new baseline for me.

A couple years ago I went to Treasure Island was pleased with the quality and selection of food. I went back the other night for dinner and was disappointed… not a big selection of food and it looked like it had been out for a while…

First off I have NO idea why anyone is giving this place anything over 1 star.
I’m generally not a huge fan of Chinese Buffets but when done right it can be amazing. Unfortunately this is the epitome of how it can so easily be done wrong.
This place caught my attention with the huge ad that they took out in the paper advertising a $ 5 all you can eat special between 2pm and 4pm. I figured I’d give it a shot since $ 5 can’t get you much outside of fast food.
I drive up to the restaurant and from the outside it looked pretty decent with a spacious parking lot and lavs entrance. The nightmare began when i entered the double doors. I was greeted and seated immediately and with good reason… the huge restaurant that can house 250 patrons had only two people in there for their lunch special! The booth that I was seated at had rips in the seating that was masterfully repaired with the wonders of duct tape. As I lifted my hand from the slightly sticky table, first word that came to mind… «classy». Aesthetics can usually be overlooked by the quality and flavor of the restaurant’s food. this however was not the case. I walked over to the buffet line for my first helping of food and was immediately turned off by the appearance of the food. The food looked like it had been sitting there for hours, but again let’s not judge things from their appearances. As a said a little prayer to the Big Guy to protect me from food poisoning I reached in for my first scoop of «chow mien», «bitter melon beef», «general tso», «chow fun», and «sweet ribs».
The chow mien and chow fun were saturated with oil and tasted like they just doused it with soy sauce. The general tso was tasted like a 4 day old chicken nugget dipped in sweet n sour from McDonald’s. The bitter melon beef and sweet ribs both didn’t make it down my throat.
Ready to leave already, I decided to swing by the other side of the buffet line. It was lined with dried up a salad bar… even the fruits lost their juices. I confirmed this by biting into an «freshly» peeled orange which i thought was the freshest choice of fruit there. I think I would have been safer with the canned peaches.
The dessert section was my last hope to get my money’s worth but it proved to be another disappointment. They offered a «pan fried green onion cookie» that was drenched in oil and so tough i could not even bite through it. The carrot cake was an insult to carrot cake… the almond cookie was missing the almond… and they had rice krispies… RICE FREAKING KRISPIES AT A CHINESE RESTAURANT.
I just don’t understand how businesses can function like this. I mean, why go to all the trouble and expense to advertise in the newspaper when all you’re going to do is serve cold and crappy food? I mean you can only trick a person once to come to your restaurant with an «amazing deal»… but if you don’t leave that person satisfied and happy they aren’t coming back! Stop thinking short term earnings and show some pride in your cooking!
So congrats Treasure Island, you tricked me into giving you $ 5 bucks. I hope you choke on it like i did on your poorly cooked food

The last time I went it was around 5:30pm. I went back around 3:00 and I was not impressed. Food was bland and had no flavor. It tasted like its been sitting there since morning. Staff sat at the tables eatting (wonder if there is a breakroom) and the restroom floor was very sleepery (due to the paper towel dispenser being on the other side of the restroom) and the urinals looked soiled and clogged. Note this was the mens restroom. I do not know if the womans was like this, but I assume it is.
It might have been because I went during lunch, but regardless I fell it should be the same throughout the day.

First time to eat here in two years — the place has gone downhill since then. Two years ago I thought the food was outstanding — now it seems more ordinary.
I’m allergic to wheat and there’s more of it — wheaty sauces and lots of flour encrusted creatures. There’s still enough to eat for those with a wheat allergy, but it’s just not enough to give much variety.
For vegetarians there’s a tofu dish, there’s several vegetable dishes. I had some nice greens. The eggplant looked delicious and the tiny bite I allowed myself to eat was tasty. But I wish they wouldn’t put wheat-​based sauces on everything.
There was a light fried rice dish that was good, but no plain rice. They still had the cold pigs ears and pig stomach slices in the salad department. There was kimchi and gakkduggi. There was a cucumber kimchi but it was sweet, oddly enought. They also served a pretty tasty salsa.
I got a plate of the Mongolian BBQ and it was very bland without the soy sauce. I added what I thought was sriracha sauce but it turned out to be catsup with some chili added. Weird!
Something called «Special Chinese Soup» turned out to be fairly tasteless except for a hint of rancidity and a wee bit of sugar. There were some huge vegetables overboiled in it. It reminded me a bit of the radish soup I’ve eaten in Taiwan — but this wasn’t anywhere near as good.
If this was the only Chinese buffet in my town I’d certainly eat here again. But I don’t live here, and I know there’s lots more really exciting places in the Portland area. So I’m not likely to waste any of my few rare eating days in Portland here next time.

Overall, I’d say this place was better than average as far as Chinese buffets go. We were on the hungry side. Even so, they had a large selection of items and even though it was in between the lunch and dinner crowds; they managed to put out fresh stuff out.
I’m sure that there is way better Chinese in Portland, but if you are ready to fill up and you are good to go with buffet then this place should fit the bill for you. I’d go back.

Has the conventional American-​Chinese like ‘panda express’ stuff as well as probably Chinese.
American-​Chinese items were greasy as usual.
There is a grill too.
Overall, huge variety of food with many options to choose ensuring total satisfaction.
Recommended.

This is a medium size restaurant tucked back in the corner off walker road across from the fred meyer. I’ve eaten at this place quite a few times. Parking can be a problem. Their private lot is small.
This restaurant is hit or miss at times for quality and flavor of the food. When their busy, the food turns over and their always bringing out fresh stuff. They do have a lot of variety including food I’ve never seen before at a typical local chinese style restaurant. They also have a grill where you choose the meat, veggies, sauce etc and they cook it up for you. There’s a desert bar which is also included.
I like the shrimp dishes and some of the noodle dishes too. I think the food is pretty authentic especially the weird stuff in the corner.
The servers are down to business and not too talkative. Might be a company policy?
Overall, I think this is aa good place to eat as far as chinese food goes. I think the food is good more times than it is adequate or bad. There is usually something you can find that is good and I always walk away stuffed. The price is similar to a mongolian grill. I will be going back again since i found a coupon in the entertainment book.

I’ve steered away from buffets lately as I’ve gotten older. But if you’re shopping for a Chinese food buffet.
The thing I like about this place is the variety. They have standard Chinese American buffet food. Heavy on the sauces and down on authenticity. But if you go to one side they have some pretty authentic Chinese stuff including beef tripe, bean curd rolls, etc. Almond cookies and ice cream for dessert.
