My friend and I decided to meet midpoint for dinner one night and found this on Unilocal as one of the top restaurants in the area. The décor is nice and I will give it that much but the food was a disappointment, as was the service. We came in on a Thursday evening and they were surprisingly dead. We ordered a Sicily Sampler of Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, grape leaves, and mozzarella sticks(not sure why they put those in there). It was all good. However they only gave us one piece of pita to share and there was a lot of hummus and Baba Ghanoush. We ordered more pita but the waitress forgot a few times and eventually brought it to us at the end of our meal, so we never finished it. The grape leaves were okay, they weren’t fresh and probably came from a can. We each ordered pasta. I had the Past Primavera, which had no flavor, huge disappointment. I’ve had this dish before, elsewhere and it was definitely missing the mark. My friend had a Spicy Chicken Pasta. He said it was good but still lacked flavor, even though it was definitely a little spicy. Our waitress forgot to bring our salads before the meal, keep in mind we were her only customers, and so she brought them once I mentioned it, after we received our food. We were actually disappointed about this because it really threw off the meal. We decided to pass on desert because we might never get it. For a place that looked as though it held itself to a high standard, it definitely did not. The prices were way too high for the quality and size of dishes. I don’t think they serve alcohol, which is weird for an Italian place but I’m assuming this because they never offered a wine menu and we didn’t see a bar. It would have been so nice to have a glass of wine. Our waitress was nice but couldn’t remember anything and yet we seemed to be her only customers. Neither of us wanted to take our food home, it wasn’t worth it.

We stopped in Beckley as a mid point during a road trip, and took the advice of other Unilocalers to check out this place. Very happy about that! In a small WV city with mostly chain restaurants, this place was great! We started with the stuffed grape leaves and followed with a made-to-order pizza. They don’t serve beef products here, but the turkey bacon on our pizza was perfectly fine. Also, no alcohol served here. All in all definitely recommend!

We had dinner on late Friday evening. We were promptly seated. It was about ¾ full. Service was a bit slow to start but the waiter became more attentive and friendly. So glad we ordered some bread as an appetizer because we were starving! The appetizer and salads were quick. The rest took longer than normal, but our party of 5 agreed that is was well worth the wait!!! The prices seemed quite affordable, portions were enough for 2 – 3 meals! Décor awesome bathrooms clean! We will be going back!

Looked for places on Unilocal while driving through from Ohio. Showed up at 1:45 today and was rudely told they would not seat us since they close for maintenance from 2 – 3. They missed out on hungry party of 8 but thankfully padrinos Italian restaurant farther down road happy to seat is. Not the nicest reception so travelers beware!

Food was pretty good, we loved the baba ghanoush; the Philly cheese steak and vege deep dish pizza were ok. The service though is what makes this place great! We had an amazing waitress who was super accommodating and helpful. Would definitely recommend to others and will definitely be back again.

Just tried their Sicilian deep dish pizza and douby bread… I enjoyed it. The pizza was fresh and tasty and huge… I will try more for sure… son was impressed and my Mom as well and they are tough critics…

Food here is mouth watering! The menu is extensive ranging from Mediterranean(Greek, middle eastern) to Italian, and American Fare. With this much diversity on the menu I was surprised to how tasty and well prepared all the food was! The portions are generous and this place really has something for everyone. The inside is modern and welcoming, good for a date or just with some friends & family. Must try; Hummus w/warm pita Eggplant Parmesan Sub Pesto Mozzarella Panini Spinach Pie This place just changed their name to «Little Sicily Italian Restaurant,» but apparently the menu is the same!

What a pleasant surprise as I stopped halfway between Myrtle Beach and Cleveland in Beckley WVa! I started with the delicious baba ghanouj, served with the freshest pita bread I’ve ever had. I wanted to try everything on the menu because it all looked so good, but I just wasn’t that hungry. So I had a cup of the tomato basil soup which was tastily topped with home made garlic-seasoned croutons and the grape leaves. I’ve never experienced grape leaves that melted in my mouth before. They were delicious! Top all that off with a quaint ambience and great prices, and you can’t go wrong. I highly recommend Lavash!

My family of four loves great Mediterranean and had to try Lavash. We ordered the Lavash sampler plate with Baba Ganesh, grape leaves, homemade hummus and mozz sticks and it was substantial — we ordered extra pita to accommodate the large dollops of hummus. Wife had the Kefta Kabob with saffron rice and the mix of seasoned lamb and beef was really tasty and plentiful. I had the Chicken Kabob and it was some of the best marinated chicken I’ve had in recent memory and the garlic sauce was on point. They offer a good kids menu and lots of Italian cuisine dishes but we came for the Mediterranean and were quite pleased that we did. Four people eating plus appetizer and dessert cane to around $ 50 and we took home enough for an additional meal, so you get large portions for the price. Lavash is a hidden Beckley gem.

Highly recommend; don’t be scared off by the drive-up appeal. Good, hearty food. Clean, with nice décor. Nothing to complain about — everyone in our party was well-fed and happy. Recommend the Schwarma, hummus, and Douby Douby bread in particular.

Had the grilled chicken salad to go. Service was friendly and it was probably the best grilled chicken salad I’ve ever had! I ate it exactly as it came + ranch dressing and everything was proportional, the chicken was juicy and delicious, the staff was very friendly, and the prices are really fair! If I was passing through Beckley again, I would definitely come back and try something at a sit down meal.

What a wonderful experience. On October 3rd around 5:00 we stopped for dinner at Lavash. This was the best food, service and atmosphere we have had in a very long time. We started with the Lavash Sampler. The hummus was outstanding, the Baba Ghanoush was very good, the cheese sticks seemed to be homemade and were tasty and the stuffed grape leaves were the best I have ever had. Nice way to start. For the entrée we chose the chicken kebab platter with rice and sweet potato and the Fatta Shwarma. Loved the spices on the chicken for the kebab. The vegetable were also nicely seasoned and the rice was a lovely long grain with subtle flavor. The Fatta Shwarma was a bowl full of crispy pita chips and long grain rice with chicken shwarma covered in a lovely garlic sauce. Both dishes were very filling but we battled through and had dessert anyway. The Tiramisu was lovely. Very creamy and not overly sweet. The coffee flavoring was very nice. We also tried the Kunafah. Imagine a Baklava/cream cheese fusion. It was sweeter than the Tiramisu but oh so good. Our server was perhaps the nicest, most attentive(without being invasive) server we have ever had. Very polite, very pleasant and very sweet. Best service we have had in a long time. Music was spot on! If you want a good Mediterranean dinner and the kids want a pizza this is your place. We felt the value of our meal was spot on also. Appetizer, entrée(very filling portion), dessert and drinks for two at $ 50 seems very reasonable to us. We will be visiting again.

This place is great! Stopped here for a quick lunch. We didn’t know what to expect — We were a bit skeptical of stopping at a mediterranean restaurant in West Virginia! However, we were seriously impressed.(This food was tastier than many places I have been to in NYC and Philadelphia.) I had the lamb kebab, which was perfectly seasoned and not over-cooked — very tender. The eggplant lavash was also delicious. Will definitely be remembering this place on our next trip through the area.

Really nice find in area that seems lacking quality places to eat. A look around the area and one sees why the US has weight and other health related issues. So many fast food chains! Anyway nice staff and décor. Chicken kabob was tasty as well as salmon and fresh salad with dressing on side. Garlic Bread appetizers were tasty too. Great prices too. This place should catch on. Adding more as we went back again. Stuffed peppers were great as well as eggplant dish. Large portions.

For those who are passionate about food, restaurants fall into multiple categories. There are those we didn’t care for, those we liked, those that we found to be excellent, and those that turn into a go-to, bordering on addiction, because it has unique set of circumstances and strengths that keep us going back for more, and always saying its name when asked, «So where do you want to go?» For once, the answer isn’t, «I don’t care. Where do you want to go?» We have an answer. In a small city where fast food franchises and national chain restaurants dominate the scene, an independent contender is both welcome and desperately needed. Several have come and gone in recent years, and others hang on for dear life. The best ones, those with the ability to survive and thrive, develop an identity, prepare their dishes with consistency and skill on a high level, operate in a customer-friendly environment, and find a way to serve as many tastes as possible while not compromising what makes them unique. That collective feat has been accomplished at Lavash. Authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine features dishes with flavors and colors that are equally vibrant and rich. Those qualities are consistent throughout the Mediterranean portion of the Lavash menu. The Douby Douby Bread is the least expensive appetizer but also one of the largest. Fresh bread covered in garlic butter and Parmesan cheese and served with homemade tomato sauce sounds like a great idea, and it is a great idea, but can also be somewhat overwhelming. My order was positively swimming in garlic butter. Don’t get me wrong. I love garlic butter but the mixture was so strong that the aroma lingered in my office for hours after the bread was gone and the empty container was in another room. As good as it was, the garlic content was so strong that it could very easily turn some people off, even the biggest garlic lover around, and forced me to share my order with others when that was not intended to begin with. The bread was fresh, the tomato sauce flavorful, but in the case of the garlic butter a little less would be more. No matter the variety, the price tag for the wraps, subs, and paninis, served with seasoned fries, makes lunch orders simple, cost-effective, and worthwhile. The Chicken Shawarma Wrap is one of the most popular items on the menu and with good reason. The portion size is ample, the wrap stuffed with marinated chicken breast strips, lettuce, tomato, roasted peppers, and the tahini sauce that is a constant presence on the menu. Out of the multiple visits to the restaurant, the Chicken Shawarma Wrap has been the most repeated order to date. There is no better introduction to Mediterranean food. The Kefta Kebab Wrap is similar to the Chicken Shawarma, exchanging seasoned and grilled ground beef and lamb for the chicken, and removing the roasted peppers. Fear not, the garlic sauce remains. The most notable difference is in the texture, not the taste, as the seasoning and portion size are consistent. The kebab is flavorful and well-seasoned, and gives a similar meat-to-vegetable ratio to the Shawarma wrap. There is no such thing as a better selection between the two, only a matter of protein preference. The Chicken Parmesan Sub is a solid choice for those who may visit Lavash but opt for a more familiar menu choice, although the perceived risk of trying something new is clearly well worth it. The freshness of the chicken, marinara sauce, and mozzarella comes through, and the bread is fantastic. As good as the sub tastes, the meat-to-bread ratio is a little unbalanced for my taste, with a $ 7.99 price tag(with fries). A larger quantity of chicken would greatly increase the value. The most consistent quality throughout the menu is the preparation of the dishes. Everything is cooked and seasoned correctly. The colors are bright, the flavors vibrant and diverse, and the portions large. The service at many institutions is a point of contention and complaint. The opposite is true at Lavash. Granted, someone recognized as a ‘regular’ at any place of business tends to get a kind of service that others do not. Familiarity breeds comfort. But the service I have received each and every time in the house, from the very first time, be it while dining in or carrying out, has been friendly, fast, and a reminder to tip well in appreciation for receiving service the way it should be. Come to think of it, Lavash defines the local restaurant experience the way it should be.

I have been here twice while passing through Beckley, WV. Both times were excellent! The service is fantastic and very friendly. The first time I had an eggplant Parmesan sandwich, which was delicious and served with fries. We also shared the douby bread; so good! The second visit I was in the mood for something lighter so I had a caprese salad. Once again, delicious! The balsamic syrup was wonderful, and there was plenty of basil. They also included napkins and cutlery with carryout, which is a must. Great place!

I wanted to take the family/kids someplace different and open their food horizons on our way back from the beach. We ordered the sampler appetizer platter which had the stuffed grape leaves, hummus, mozzarella sticks, and Baba Ganesh. We also got the bread balls. We got a gyro, stuffed eggplant, the kabob wrap and the signature wrap that others here told me to get that starts with a «s»(good call). We did get 2 kids meals(one spaghetti and meatballs and fettuccine Alfredo). The prices were reasonable and the portions good. We also got the chocolate cake(nothing special but requested by my 9 year old), baklava and this other Mediterranean dessert with shredded phyllo. Both which are made in house unlike the chocolate cake. I don’t know how to spell some of these things. Our server was very attentive, the atmosphere was nice, and the food was very good. We were staying at the I 64⁄77 area in the Fairfield and it was a 8 minute ride so it was close and away from all the chains. I must say that Unilocal reviewers have given me courage to try the local flavor and leave the chains behind.

Good Mediterranean food! I had the chicken kebob, my family had the kefta wrap, beef kebob and we tried grape leaves app. Healthy good tasting meal with side salads and we had take out in about 40 min so you know it’s homemade. I would eat here again.

What a pleasant surprise … nice food, good atmosphere and all around a nice place to stop for lunch. It’s a pity that the restaurant is a little off the main track, in particular if you are a traveler. But as I wrote, well worth the diversions. We visited the place based on reviews here on Unilocal and the are good. Although non-assuming on the outside, the interior is nice, and it’s all good!

After 2 days of gorging on fried food my gut was overjoyed to find Mediterranean in Beckley. I showed up just as they opened for lunch and was seated right away. Overall customer service was awesome and the food was fantastic. That said, I have 3 gripes. #1-It took 30 min for my chicken kabobs to come out. My salad came out quickly, but it’s a salad so that’s kinda to be expected. #2– It was pretty pricey considering I just got chicken and a salad. Total came out to $ 18. #3-I got no pita bread! I’ve never been to a Mediterranean restaurant where a few pita squares were NOT thrown on with a salad or an entrée. The food was legit but I was not too jazzed by the overall experience.

Tired of the same old places for eating out. Between the four of us, no one can decide. So my buddy hit google on the phone and up pops this place. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. Everyone had something different and we had 3 appetizers and everything was amazing. The portions, the food quality, and service were very very good. This might become our go to place in Beckley, WV.
