Meal was edible but really very poor. Problem is not any decent choices around here. Eat at your own risk of disappointment.

No big issues here. Its in the Marriott hotel, so if you are staying in the hotel complex near midway it is convenient. We ate in the bar area, the service was great, the bartender was friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good. It was spendy, but it is a hotel restaurant so that shouldn’t be a surprise. I would eat there again.

Let me start off by saying i am a platinum Marriott member and i eat at alot of Marriotts. This is by far one of the best restaurants in a Marriott. I had the pork chop with whole grain mustard sauce and fingerling potatoes. The pork chop was cooked absolutely perfectly. Nice and juicy. Not dried out at all. The roasted potatoes were crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth inside. I couldnt get enough of the vegetables either and i am not a vegetable guy. The bartender is very friendly and knows her way around a cocktail or two. Every time i fly in and out of Chicago i will be staying and eating here. Kudos Marriott. All your restaurants should be this good.

Nicely done, but somewhat pricey. Ordered a chicken quesidilla, chicken tortilla soup and a Caesar salad with water to drink. Check came to around $ 30, including tip. Soup was pretty good, just the right spicyness, and was served with fresh baked hard rolls and I was impressed that the bread plate was warmed. Also, the salad bowl was chilled. The salad was a little heavy on dressing and the spine of the Romaine lettuce was not removed, but very tasty. The dish I had the most issue with was the quesidilla. The tortilla was barely warmed with no crispness on the outside. The chicken was dry and had a «leftover» taste to it. The salsa was a very thin salsa verde, lacking flavor. The décor is pretty much standard hotel standard and the service was ok. The waitress working the table across from mine did an excellent job describing her favorite dessert, which resulted in the 2 guests each ordering, but my waitress delivered the«Did you save room for dessert?» line. No, thank you. Probably would have if a little more effort was displayed. Overall, a good alternative to Friday’s across the parking lot.

Attached to an airport hotel. Friday night had one waitress and 3 tables occupied. Food was below average. Service included waitress leaving for 20 minutes. Avoid at all costs

Cowboy ribeye was very tasty. But do it medium rare or it will be dry at medium, but even at medium it tasted great. Wife had the salmon which came on couscous with spinach and garlic and it was fantastic. $ 2 up charge for substitutions. The poor guy staffing Sunday night was running both the bar and the restaurant, tried hard and did well given the circumstances This is inside the Marriott which is inside this giant midway hotel block. Very convenient instead of driving someone in search of steak and surprisingly good. I recommend it if you stay here and don’t want to drive in search of steak downtown or nearby

My husband and I ate here tonight . Awesome experience. The Service was excellent. Our Server was quite knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Shrimp&Sausage Gumbo. My husband had the Lamb Shank. Both were cooked perfectly. We are here for one more night and are seriously talking about going back. The menu listed on their website is not the same menu. We informed our server. Hopefully it will be corrected.

While the food for a hotel has been solid it’s the management of the bar that is concerning 1) u added 6 taps in a separate cooler that now crowds the flow of the bar keepers. 2) regularly out of a number of tap beers. Tonight it was Sam Adams winter fest. And revolution brewing. Really!!! Last time u had 3 empty pulls. 3) restaurant manager. U don’t pull the bar keep to wait tables. Get your staffing and bar order figured out.

I stay at the Marriott Midway for business quite often and Dempsey’s makes it a bit easier for me to leave home for the week. The food and the service is just that good! Karolina is my favorite bartender with a super awesome Lithuania accent, so you can’t miss her. But the food… oh my gwasrh, it’s delectable. I’ve had the pork chops, the prime rib, the ribeye, the salads, and the chicken tortilla soup! Let me say that there hasn’t been anything on the menu that I don’t particularly care for. I appreciate the simple dishes that pack a good punch. Also, I find that their hummus is some of the best I’ve ever had. They have a triple hummus appetizer sampler, and if I wasn’t celiac and it didn’t hurt me so bad afterward. I would eat it everytime I stay at the Marriott. Overall, for a hotel restaurant the prices are pretty reasonable, the staff isn’t obnoxious, and the food is pretty on point.

Dempsey’s was completely empty when we came to eat there, no staff, no guests. It was 6:30pm on a Friday night. We wandered over to the bar where Karolina gave us excellent customer service. This review is for the food, which came from Dempsey’s. We started with the soup, it was tortilla soup and it was very good. Wish I would have stopped there. I ordered the«Signature» steak salad. The salad was fine but the steak was disgusting. It was full of gristle and extremely tough. My partner had the wedge salad and enjoyed it. We shared the cheesecake with fruit for dessert. Fruit = one strawberry. I told Karolina the steak was awful and she removed the salad from our bill. Class move on her part. I would give Dempsey’s another shot next time I am staying near Midway but will avoid the steak. A shame since it is their«signature» salad and I expect a good cut of steak in Chicago.

Service with a smile and my filet mignon was cooked to perfection. This place brings it all together in a friendly welcoming atmosphere. I’ll be back for sure.

«An Irishman walks into a pub… and orders Hummus.» Lol, bad joke — great food @ Dempsey’s!(One reviewer said it smelled — I say it smelled GREAT!). I digress. So, I had just finished a 3.2 mile run(patting myself on the back here) and was looking for a place to grab a quick bite before heading BACK to my hotel for more work(sigh). As I drove through the parking lot I spied this place and decided to give it a shot — checking Unilocal first, bingo! I was seated quickly, attended to immediately — polite and helpful staff. Ordered the Naan bread/hummus plate(BIGENOUGH to be a lunch!) — just frigging awesome. The bread was hot, fresh, and tasted like it was made by a kindly old woman from Mumbai. Salad was ALSO as big as my head, fresh and delicious. Entrée = penne rosa w/char grilled chicken, spinach & mushrooms… EXCELLENT !(Not gonna mince words here — EXCELLENT). So, if you’re flying in & out of Chicago’s Midway, staying in the hotel complex on Cicero Ave — GOHERE!(But work out first to alleviate the guilt you may feel after eating such great food). — cheers buddy!

If you are staying at one of the hotels near the midway airport then breakfast is going to be challenging. Most of the hotels offer a small complementary continental type breakfast. I was staying at the Hampton Inn and the complementary breakfast wasn’t very good. I decided to Unilocal nearby breakfast places and I came across Dempsey’s. It’s in the same vicinity as many other hotels so it’s easy to walk there and get a much higher quality breakfast. Especially if you can expense it ;) Dempseys is a full service breakfast spot. I went with the breakfast buffet for 14.95. The servers were warm and welcoming. At the buffet they have a range of fruits cereals oatmeal, create your own omelettes, and hot food. The day that I was here they had pancakes bacon breakfast potatoes scrambled eggs and sausage. All were kept hot on burners instead of chafing dishes and were easy to serve yourself from. They provide you with a pot of coffee on the table and are always checking in to see if you need more. While I am sure you have had better omelettes or better pancakes or better breakfast potatoes at some point in your life, this is a solid breakfast and definitely beats the complementary ones at many of the hotels. If I was back in the area without hesitation I would go to Dempsey’s for breakfast. :-)

This place is serviceable. I had the Dempsey’s Salad with added Salmon. Salmon was actually better than the vegetables. Usually I would expect nothing from a place like this, but I was surprised that the fish was actually kind of… good. Had the hummus plate to start. Probably could’ve skipped it, but it wasn’t bad. The server was very nice. We told him that we had to catch a flight in a short while. My friend ordered the chicken at first and he made sure to tell us that it would take 25 minutes to cook. Service was very good overall. I would never have gone here if I didn’t need a very quick dinner near the airport. That said, I’ve had worse. Don’t expect anything and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Amazing breakfast buffet with lots of great options. The fruit was very fresh and flavorful. The Denver omelet that was made for me was excellent. This was a great way to start the day. Service was really great as well.

I took my grandparents here for Easter. The waiter is friendly. The room smells like pee. I’m confused if it’s my grandparents or not. I just walked through the restaurant and the smell is everywhere. Since i drove my grandparents here and was in the car with them the odor was not from them ordered calamari for appetizer, the prime rib for main dish but I don’t think I will be able to enjoy it due to the smell. Well waiter forgot to put in appetizer. So all the food arm out at once. I ordered steak med rare came out well done. Steaks flavor was lacking and they put a mound of herb butter on top. Not worth the price but what do you expect from a hotel restAurant.

I would like to rate the food, but I waited 20 min for a waitress to show in either the bar or restaurant and left. Other patrons were upset too.

Dempsey’s is inside the Marriott in the multi-hotel enclave in Bedford Park near Midway airport. I didn’t want to drive anywhere in the rain, so walked over from the Hilton Garden Inn. Comfortable atmosphere, but I admit it took me a few minutes to figure out why one section was raised and roped off. Then I saw the huge painting of a boxing prize fight and it all made sense. :) I had the salmon dinner, which was served over roasted fingerling potatoes, al dente fresh string beans and stewed tomatoes in a delicious broth. The salmon was cooked perfectly and really flavorful. There was a red tapenade(at least ¼ cup) messily glopped on top of the salmon that I pushed to the side because I thought it was red pepper. When I tasted a bit, it turned out to be tangy olive. Service was okay but could use some fine tuning. My drink and dinner order were taken quickly, and the entrée served promptly but my water glass wasn’t refilled until I asked. I had a second glass of wine, and the empty glass sat in front of me for the rest of the dinner. When I was finished with my entrée, it also sat in front of me until the waiter brought the bill. It wasn’t a busy night and there were plenty of servers. For such an elegant dining space I was surprised that the background music wasn’t smoother. I like Kings of Leon just fine, but don’t think they suited.

I had a really good filet here last nite for dinner. Prior, I had the key lime pie dessert, and a Sam Adams Summer Ale. All REALLY good. The coffee was really good and strong too, as I prefer. Not many in for dinner here last nite, so service was pretty good for myself. Nice atmosphere and quiet inside the Marriott Hotel.
