Four out of five dishes we ordered were delicious. Yay: The pressed chicken with ginger and scallion is amazing. This was my favorite. It even had kale and ginger jasmine rice. Weird sweet potato nacho-y dish was weird, but good. Pork belly dish over lentils was very delicious, though unconventional. Meh: Caesar salad, pretty sparse, but we liked the topping, I think it tasted like crushed pork rinds? Nay: the school lunch was more of a novelty — burgers were tough and boring, tater tots were covered in artificial nacho cheese. I thought they would do a better rendition of it, but nope. Lastly, the price was more than I expected. PS: Would be nice if you had a high chair for kids.(Maybe it was being used?) FYI, just because you have high chairs or booster seats does not mean you are less cool. Copenhagen, Denmark(thought of as forward-thinking) has high chairs in most places. Then again, they also have elevators in most subway stations.(Said while dismounting off my high horse…)

The food, atmosphere, and staff are all seriously extraordinary here. I highly recommend checking it out before the word gets out. We walked in on a Friday night and sat right down at the bar. Tip: Try the sprouts! They are amaaaaaazing.

Great food, interesting drinks, clever descriptions, and best of all: great staff and charismatic, genuine owners! I had the appetizers that were on special for the night, very tasty and unique. For entrees we ordered the chicken and the fresh catch fish. Both were excellent: dynamic flavored, cooked to perfection, especially the chicken. The ambiance and music were delightful. The music was not too overpowering which I appreciate!!! Great sound system and solid tunes.

I just had dinner here with my boyfriend. I live two blocks away but hadn’t gotten around to trying this place since it opened a few months ago! I was looking forward to it since a friend recommended it to me. I’d rather give it 3.5 stars but the burger just wasn’t good. First of all, the service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The décor was cute as well, if not a bit much. I thought the colors and the patterned wood, as well as the glasses which were the same cups we all used in high school or college cafeterias, all combined to give off the effect of just trying to hard to be hip. It just felt too much like an urban outfitters set. It’s also pretty dark in there, and I felt like the brightly colored booths didn’t quite match the rest of the restaurant. It looked like half of the place was supposed to be hip and the other part just too childish and playful. It’s also a bit loud, but I liked their mix of music-there were some great oldies as well as TLC. I did really like the candles and tiny plants inset into the exposed brick wall though. For dinner, we ordered the Caesar salad to start and the«school lunch» for each of us, which consisted of a burger, one deviled egg, and lots of tater tots. The salad was really tasty. The entrée was a good portion of food, but I found both the burger and the egg to be too salty. My boyfriend agreed. Neither of us could finish our burgers. The tots were good, as was the ketchup. I think it was house made because it had a tang to it. The presentation of the entrée was cute – the burgers came in plastic baskets, like a school lunch! Still, I think this place is overpriced. Our total was $ 60 for two beers, two burgers, and a Caesar salad. The beer itself was relatively cheap but I think the entrees were overpriced. They also charged $ 3 extra per patty, which we weren’t aware of when our waitress asked how many patties we wanted on our burgers. Overall, I’d give the food 3 stars and the service 5. Ambience would get 3.5. (I’ve heard really good things about their cocktails, so perhaps it’s better just for drinks!)

My SO and I were so excited for Fancy Nancy to open, we saw the«coming soon» sign all summer so we were one of the first tables there when it opened, and we’ve been back since. The food is fun and laid-back, the retro vibe is cute, and the brunch menu is yummy if a little limited. The only feedback I’d have is that on the brunch menu, one item lists«2 eggs, toast, etc,» which usually means eggs served any style. But when I specified in my order, I was told they were sunny-side up. If that’s always the case, it should probably just say that on the menu. But Fancy Nancy is an awesome addition to the neighborhood, and has a fun, friendly staff. Will definitely keep returning.

Fancy Nancy, been meaning to by for a while, wonderful buttered rum, bagel bird, and powerball. Super friendly attentive bartenders, we gad the brussel sprouts, crunchy, yummy, great dipping sauce, and the duck wings were perfection, my boyfriend who cooks for a living was impressed. All in all Fancy Nancy, we think youre going to do very well. I know I’ll be telling my clients about you!!!

There is something you should know about me: I have mild social anxiety that is exponentially multiplied by the prospect of having to eat a full meal by myself in public. In my mind nothing could feel lonelier. Codependency and living with my boyfriend for 6 years has coddled that fear, but a recent week with the boyfriend out-of-town inspired me to face it head-on. Cue Fancy Nancy: the bar I’ve been wanting to try since its inception last October. My boyfriend knew how badly I wanted to sink my teeth into their«School Lunch» — the most American looking American cheese burger out there, topped with a deviled egg and served with a side of tots covered in cheese and bacon — and he mocked that desire by ignoring every opportunity to patron the joint. COMEON! So on a Tuesday(the bar is closed Sunday and Monday, –1 star) I timidly entered with nerves and a full bladder. I bee-lined for the bathroom and was interrupted by a smiley bartender asking if she could help me. What I heard was, «You’re not going to use our bathroom and leave, are you?» I responded in an irrationally defensive tone and went about my business, which included having a mini-panic attack in the clean and welcoming restroom. I emerged thankful for the low light and red glow of the room, which hid my distress nicely, and took my seat at the half-full bar. The adorable bartender, whom I had mentally forgiven for questioning me, promptly brought me water and a menu. As mentioned, I knew exactly what I wanted. I ordered my School Lunch alongside an IPA and was asked if I wanted one, two or three burger patties. What now? For fear of sensory overload, I went with one. I browsed Unilocal,Instagram and various news sites for what felt like forever but was probably only about 10 minutes, and then my school lunch arrived. Believe me when I say that this is what dreams are made of. The only NYC burger I can compare this to is Shake Shack. There was a perfect proportion of bread to meat to cheese. Nestled in the mix was a homemade pickle that still looked more cucumber than pickle and held the perfect juicy flavor, along with some shredded lettuce and a thin slice of tomato. I methodically ate the deviled egg first, of course, which had a great little kick. It was creamy and delicious. And the tots, you ask? They were crispy with the perfect amount of cheese and bacon topping. I’m not ashamed to admit that I ate every single one. I finished my IPA while rocking out to a great selection of tunes, mostly alternative. Miike Snow’s new song Genghis Khan was in the mix, which made me giddy because that is SO my jam right now. By the time I was finished with my beer I felt confident enough to crack a joke with a neighboring patron about the Powerball drawing and I took my leave. So there you have it. Fancy Nancy is an A-OK place to go solo, even for the most neurotic of guests, but I can only assume that it’s even more fun with friends. I’ll be back.

Giving it a 3 for the décor, service, and vibe. They nail it on those aspects. I live a block away and was hoping for more out of the food. I love burgers and this was a big miss especially for the price. Seemed like a frozen patty on a basic bun for $ 16, not seasoned well etc. The tots which reviewers talk about were your basic pop em in the oven grocery store tots. Would go back for drinks, service, vibe. Need to improve the food!

We went there for Brunch. I had the kale salad, delicious! And a side of biscuit with quince jam — yumm! The place is cool, staff are super nice, we even got to meet Nancy, she is a fancy gal. Will definitely come back.

The positives: –Lovely dimly-lit, cozy atmosphere with an edge –Good cocktails/wine –Friendly and fast staff –Fan-freakin-tastic brussels sprouts The«opportunity to improve»: –Greasy, fast-food-quality burger –Wildly overpriced burger at that($ 21 for the triple with cheese/bacon on tots = what the hell?) Overall, I’m open to returning to try other items at this corner spot that seems like a nice addition to the neighborhood.

I like this place, and I think it’s got a few kinks to work out and will become really great. I agree with the other posters that its staff is friendly. The food is also good(especially the brussels sprouts). The first time I came here, I had the kale salad, which was delicious. It would be nice to offer it in a smaller size without the boquerones as a side. It’s designed well and has a good vibe. My next visit, I was asked to sit at the bar instead of an open table(it looked like it was for four and I was part of a two-person party). It wasn’t very organized — they told me to write my name on a list to wait for a table, but this was after I’d been at the bar for a while, so I didn’t, but eventually was taken to a table anyway. I ordered the burger and when asked if I wanted nacho cheese or bacon on my tater tots I said no. When they came, they had both. I let the waitress know and she started to take them back, but I told her it was fine to keep them rather than throwing them out. I’m not a pork eater, but it’s not a big mistake and I mainly just ate the ones without bacon on them. Then the extras were listed on my bill when I didn’t order them. I’m glad this place opened up in the neighborhood and will definitely be back. I think it will be a good addition to the restaurant scene here, and I appreciate the interesting menu. I think they’re still working out some small issues, but once it’s all streamlined, it’s going to be one of my go-to places.

Decent food here. Slow but definitely worth to wait. The flavor is fantastic, especially the 12 hours pork shoulder and crispy chicken.

I loved this place! We got there at 12pm on a Sunday and I was shocked how slow it was. We got a table immediately and the service was super friendly and efficient. I had the kale salad with squash and almonds with 2 fried eggs on top! I loved the kale salad! It’s hard to be excited over kale salad but this was a great combo of flavors! Also had the crispy potatoes which were also a great sharing item and flavorful! I will definitely be back!

Best meal I’ve had yet in 2015, and we are almost in the 12th month. The food was exquisite. We tried the sweet potatoes and avocado with aioli and the brussel sprouts. Delicious. The cocktails were made to perfection. Can I wait 24 whole hours before I return?

Kristin’s smile is merely the gateway to a supper full of superlative hospitality, creamy cocktails, and delectable dishes. Impressively, Kristin does it all: greeter, runner, waitress, bartender, and back, and although she’s wearing all of those hats, it’s still not enough Formula 409 to wipe away that Cheshire. Fancy Nancy’s was a short-lived dollar store where, little does anybody know, at one time, I had purchased a mop head and some sponges. However, these days it’s where you go for bowl of bitterless fried Brussels sprouts with a «garlic jazz» sauce. Typically, I like my Brussels steamed, but I’m also a sucker for fried… anything. These itty bitty cabbages were very delicate with that skin-side crunch, and sweet to the middle. To add the garlic jazz only completed the union. In the entrée course, my gal had the pressed chicken in all its crispy skin and moist meat glory over kale and rice, and I had the juicy, dripping, and sizzly edged roasted pork shoulder over delicious sweet and sour lentils and fried onion covered arugula. I had one bite of the chicken and oh-boy was it a tender«not a drip lost to the fryer,» juicy piece of properly seasoned ex-bird wrapped in crunch. If I wasn’t currently in a love affair with pork, partly in protest to all those in the world that don’t «dig on swine», but mostly because it’s fucking delicious, I may have grabbed it. Therefore, it was the roast pork shoulder in all its savoriness, for me. Each forkful was wonderful medley of complementary tastes. The pork’s crisp threshold gives way to those warm pork flavors you find in a good slow roast only to be combined with the bitter arugula, slightly sweet fried onion, and tender lentils. Yeah, you’ve arrived in, «Mmm Town.» I’ve stopped in a second time to confirm some things, but mostly to try Fancy’s Happy Hour cheeseburger with cheese-tots, and more so to get me to the limit of Nancy’s(Legendary) Hustle, limit two per person… kinda sorta. This tasty drink will make childhood imprints come to life as you lift its licorice-like(tarragon), black Twizzler excellence from the glass through a tube meant for kitchen faucet water service, uh, um, straw. The décor is easy. I immediately think of my sister’s room, only not as girly, but totally something 80’s chick flicky. Fancy Nancy is lit low and colorful. It’s clean and comfortable, a great place overall. A welcomed addition to a once suffering neighborhood. Kristin, great job! Thanks.

Let me start by saying that this review did not have to be 5*. However, thanks to incredible accountability and generosity by the staff there was no other option. I went here on Halloween with my girlfriend and three other friends in order to get some food before a party. We sat right away and put in our order promptly. We had our drinks and were having a nice time in their great space. We then began to realize that other tables had been getting their food and they had ordered after us. Soon after the waitress stopped at our table and told us that the kitchen had lost our order ticket. She then added that our entire meal was on them. They also added multiple appetizers that we had not originally ordered. The food was all delicious. The Brussels sprouts, fish dip and Caesar salad were first rate appetizers. A few of us ordered the school lunch for our mains and the burger was out of this world. We found the restaurant’s response to a mistake to be over and above. They were constantly apologetic. All in all we had an amazing time at Fancy Nancy’s and the way they run their restaurant coupled with the high quality food leads me to recommend it very highly!

I watched with curiosity as Fancy Nancy was preparing to open, and after my first visit last night, I’m happy to say this is a great addition to the neighborhood. The space has a wonderful vibe. It’s cute without being over-the-top Brooklyn twee. The service was fantastic and everyone was chatty and funny — it feels a little bit like you’re having drinks at your really cool friend’s house. They have great taste in music too! I had the Happy Hour burger + beer special($ 10). You can add tots for $ 3. That’s a seriously awesome deal and the burger was gooooooood. My favorite part was the deviled egg that was skewered to the top! I’ll definitely be back to check out more of the menu. They’re only open for dinner and drinks now, but I’d love to see Fancy Nancy’s take on brunch.

This place is so great! Duck wings are killer, my string bean salad was awesome. Oh, and don’t forget the cocktails. Lost in SF is like a magical(yet somehow tropical) herbaceous coffee cocktail journey. Great addition to the neighborhood!

Fancy Nancy has all the flair and charm of the 90’s(Clinton’s 90’s not the Bush régime). It is bright and beautiful with a staff that greets you with a smile and remembers you. We live in the neighborhood(down the street to be exact) and were watching as they transformed the space over months, it lives up to the hype we built up and has great food and awesome cocktails and happy hour specials! You must do yourself a favor and brave the G train to come here and feel young again! Ps the herb sauce on the burger is flippin amazing and the tots would make Napoleon Dynamite splooge his pants!
