Classic up-sell. I went in for a knocking/clunking sound, which i figured — correctly — was a bad stabilizer bar. They told me it was that, but that i also needed front brakes and rotors. The rotors, the mechanic said, ‘were uneven.’ After $ 450, i made them give me the parts. The pads looked brand-new, as did the rotors. No grooves, no nothing. The manager was on vacation, so i went back after he returned and showed him the«bad” parts. He offered to replace the new ones with the old and take $ 250 off the bill rather than give me any credit. I declined. First off, why would i let that shop BACK under the hood of my car? fool me once, etc. Second, i have no reason to believe they wouldn’t put those now-used parts back on someone else’s car and charge full price. And third, i went back 10 days after the work was done, so why the HECK did he still HAVE the old parts? i will not be returning.
