I have always hated going to the dentist and it caused me a lot of anxiety. Dental Arts of Bedford has really change that. I see the same hygienist every time and she is very friendly. When I have needed work Dr. Sam has been wonderful about making everything go as quickly and painlessly as possible. I have found the staff and quality of care to all be great and can’t see myself ever choosing to go elsewhere.

Yes, the reception area is cushy(free coffee, nice couches, big jar of goodies) and the desk staff is very helpful and friendly… but the dental care felt slapdash, and I didn’t feel heard or valued by Dr. Ang. In fact, I had to go to another dentist to have my original problem addressed. Dr. Ang made it worse. I understand that not every dentist or doctor has a good«bedside manner,» so it wasn’t a huge problem that the first time he met me as a new patient, Dr. Ang came out and said, «Are you ready?» No «Hello,» no «I’m Dr. Ang,» no «Good to meet you, Ellen.»(He does love trying to sell you services, however, and I believe that he genuinely loves dentistry.) The real problem was that, when he had me in the chair, I tried to explain my problem — and he cut me off, telling me he knew what to do. To some patients, this would sound like confidence. It wasn’t until I got home and realized that Dr. Ang had made the problem *worse* that I saw him as arrogant. He really didn’t want to understand how to fix my issue: he wanted to sell me braces and get my payment. At least, that’s what it felt like. I was disappointed by the visit and by being charged more, in person, than I’d been quoted on the phone, so I made four polite attempts to follow up, which were handled gracefully by two different staff members. But when Dr. Ang finally called me himself, he was defensive, rude, and wouldn’t let me finish a sentence before interrupting me to explain that his patients love him, so I couldn’t possibly be unhappy with his dental care. He seems insecure, in that he literally couldn’t hear my feedback. The day after my appointment, I saw Dr. Ang on the cover of a glossy local magazine, which tells me he’s trying hard to build a practice. It also suggests to me that he could use more patients… and after the way he spoke to me, I understand how that could be.

Original dentist and hygienist were awesome. Dentist and hygienist used to come and introduce themselves, sit and have discussions with parents of kids. They are no longer there, and patients were not informed. After the change, we did not have any more friendly chats with hygienist of dentist — just business. I do not like reminder phone calls on Sunday mornings! Reminds me of a big business, not like the friendly neighborhood family dentist it used to be.
