Vineyard Probably one of the better vineyards I have been to in a long time. Their wines are all made from their grapes and the selection is better than average — there are some very good Italian type wines going on there. Great owner and host will take the time to talk and share a glass with you– and there is always something worth purchasing and sitting out back and sipping. They also have a nice selection of cheeses and crackers to go along with your choice. We have been here a few times now and have never left disappointed. Definitely a great afternoon out. A little off the beaten path but worth the trip. Give it a shot!

Our initial greeting by the owners was underwhelming. But the hostess who did the tastings was very friendly and fun. She was very down to earth and pleasant. The main building was clean and nicely decorated. With an infusion of new ideas and a bit of fresh marketing this would be a great destination for a Saturday afternoon.

We went to the vineyard and was highly impressed by the wines and the staff was extremely friendly. My husband & I favor the sweeter whites more so but all of the wines were pretty good across the board. We really enjoyed the sparkling dessert wine«Autumn Kiss» of which we purchased. The owner of the vineyard also took the time to recommend some local restaurants in the Bedford area since were visiting for my birthday. One he recommended was the Old Liberty Station of which we tried and thoroughly enjoyed.

I love it when a winemaker partakes in his/her product when conducting a tasting — it makes for great«bonding» and it usually means the tastings will be generous. LeoGrande is a newer winery on the Bedford wine trail(between Roanoke and Lynchburg) and there’s a sign in front of the tasting room that reads something like«Honk your horn if you’d like a tasting – we’re probably out in the vineyards.» The tasting room, when I visited, was in the kitchen, which isn’t my favorite thing, but like another new VA winery(Wolf Gap), a stand-alone tasting room is in the works. There is not a huge selection here, but the wines he has are all very good. I bought his regular Chardonnay and a bottle of his Reserve, which according to the website is no longer available. His chambourcin is very good as well.
