We came for a graduation celebration, in the back of the restaurant is a large private dining area and we had around 30 in our group. They had three waitresses work with our group and made the ordering process a lot faster. Food was good home cooked style and a lot of different options from soup, salads, sandwiches and entrees. Be sure to save room for cheesecake! The décor of the place is like you are at a train station, it is a reference to the old train station that was in the town. If you are ever in this small little country town in Virgina I suggested stopping in… and yes, order the cheesecake!!!

The food is inconsistent, especially when ordered as «take out». Steak requested rare is typically overcooked. They are terrible at verifying that sauces and side dishes are included in the order, and after numerous calls, this seems to be a permanent affliction. The last order had almost no butter in the container for the family to share. That being said, at times, the food is very good. The problem, however, is that it’s always a toss-up as to whether or not you will be satisfied.

Nice décor. Very busy. Great service. The owner comes around to welcome you and see how things are going. Very very full menu. Hard to make up your mind with so much to choose from. Best desserts ever! Love love love the peach cobbler!

Our first visit. A very charming and historically rich establishment. The menu includes a concise history of the restaurant and clearly indicates the community’s love for restaurant. And quaintly enough, a rail car passed by outside the dining room while we ate. The service was excellent. Friendly, attentive, and well organized. The food, on the other hand, was just ok. Both mine and my wife’s food was over salted. In fact, she only ate a portion of her grilled chicken because it was too salty. My onion soup was clearly made with pre-prepared ingredients(including the onions), and thus was loaded with salt. My turkey sandwich was also salty as was, oddly enough, the onion bun. So, on the whole, the food wasn’t that great. But, given the pleasant atmosphere and attentive service, we would return if another occasion brought us back to Bedford.

I had Olde Liberty Station(OLS) cater food for my winter wedding in Forest, VA at The Trivium Estate and Conference Center. They catered appetizers for the cocktail hour and a buffet dinner for the dinner/reception. Heather, one of the managers, was very professional and courteous as she helped me plan an amazing menu for the event, and she let us do several menu tastings to make sure everything was just right. Her staff were great at the event, and always made sure me and my husband had food and beverage in hand(people always say don’t forget to eat at your wedding, and with how busy it is the day of, I now know why lol). She also did a hot cocoa bar for our wedding which was a major hit! Their food is the best I’ve had in the Lynchburg/Forest/Bedford area and the restaurant has a nice antiquated charm too. If you are looking for a good place to eat or a vendor to cater for your big event, I highly recommend OLS. They are incredibly affordable too(our menu for the wedding was $ 25/person, which is insanely good value, in northern virginia where we live, average plate was $ 80/person for local venues/caterers.)

This is one of our favorite places to eat. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly and the food is amazing. I enjoy the steak, salad and homemade bread and cheesecake. There are many choices on the menu but the steak is wonderful. It can get very busy in the evening, but it is well worth the wait.

I stumbled across this place due to Unilocal. What a great place for lunch. I had the best bowl of Chili in my life. I had the half chicken breast sandwich and the Bowl of Chili. The half Chicken sandwich was bigger than most full sandwiches. The service staff were very professional and spot on with service. Food was very delicious and this will be a must when I am in this area.

The food is okay, nothing great. Most of the other reviewers giving it high ratings live out in the boonies. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! It’s just that they don’t have a lot to compare with. If you’re at this restaurant, you’re there because you generally have to drive 10 — 30 minutes just to find food(anywhere), or you’re passing through as we were. The place is cute with it’s railroad setting. It’s just pretty mediocre all around. The catfish, which everybody seemed to rave about is cooked in a batter that is just so salty. If you’re the type that sits down and puts salt on your food before you taste it, you may like it. For us, it approached inedible. The corn pudding was okay. The salad — meh… There was a small candle lamp on our table, so I asked one a waitress(not ours — she just happened to be folding napkins at the serving station next to us) if she could light it. She said«Sorry, I don’t have any matches.» Okay, uh, can’t you ask someone for us or just relay it to our waitress — I mean, jeez, help each other out. I’ll eat here again if I’m stuck in the area. But I won’t be salivating to get here…

This place has perfected fried catfish! Great sweet tea and corn pudding. Neat ambiance I gladly live«in the boonies,» do not add salt to my food, and know how to use apostrophes correctly.

We had to wait because of our large party size, but boy was it worth it. Amazing food, outstanding service, and a fun atmosphere. I had the smoked turkey ciabatta sandwich with bacon and cranberry cream cheese. Amazing. All the food at our table got eaten. No to go boxes. Only regret we did not get a chance to do dessert.

Fabulous food, great service. And a BIG bonus: two trains roared by while we were eating! Since this restaurant is located on an old railroad building on the tracks, the two trains going by made it special

Grabbed dinner here before heading out to our campsite at Peaks of Otter — what a fun and genuine dining experience! True to its name, it’s a former railroad station and has maintained the same structure and even displays train memorabilia throughout the restaurant. Super fun for both kids and adults! Food was satisfying, fresh, and affordable: –Fried Green Tomatoes: generous portion, crunchy, flavorful, and we ended up scraping off the breading on the last few slices — healthier and just as delicious! –House Salad: included eggs, bacon, and cheddar cheese which I wasn’t expecting; still yummy. –complimentary Bread rolls with seasonal flavored-butters; tried a raspberry one which was divine. –Salt and Pepper Catfish: fish was very fresh and the batter was light but too salty for my taste; scraped off some of the batter, added a good squeeze of lemon, and it was perfect. During our visit in May 2014, they had no draft beer — only bottled. A little strange because there’s a designated bar area off to the side and most bars have at least a few beers on draft, but apparently plans for beers on tap are in the works! Robin was a really pleasant server and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a nice experience at Olde Liberty Station.
