SUPERFRIENDLYSERVICE, GREATTUNEUP. Brought my bike here for a tune up. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. After a bad experience at another bike shop, I was pleasantly surprised when my bike came back from the tune up and rode like new. Brakes had been tightened up significantly, sprockets were replaced(for a few dollars more), and gears all work properly now. THISIS A LEGITIMATEREVIEWFROM A NEWCUSTOMER. I saw a comment from another Unilocal user recently saying«don’t trust the positive reviews posted after I just posted my honest(1 star) review.» …This is also a real, honest review, and I believe the other positive reviews were real, too. Go in there and see for yourself…

I leave my honest review and then suddenly, there are four glowing reviews all within the same week? Don’t fall for that.

This is a great locally owned and operated shop on a wonderful street in Bedford. It’s easy to get to from any part of town and provides an incredibly caring and relaxed shopping experience. I went to the shop looking to buy a bike for the first time in maybe 10 years. Needless to say I was but overwhelmed in the options available to me. This shop carries everything from unicycles to full on snow bicycles. Thankfully, Mike, the store owner, helped me narrow down my needs and desires in the world of cycling and I rode out of there with a great bike and great deals. A few months later I started having problems with my front dérailleur and the shop fixed it quickly and effectively. Now it rides better than the day I bought it. Overall from the buying experience to the service, this place is great.

There are two bike shops to consider in my opinion when it comes to the Cleveland area. One is a well established franchise called Century Cycles and the other is this independently owned and operated shop in the heart of the small town of Bedford. While I like Century(their $ 200 full overhaul tuneup makes a road weary bicycle seem like brand new and is worth every penny after a couple thousand miles), my preference is the Broadway Cyclery because of Mike the owner and mechanic. Every customer is treated like the most important person in his rolodex. He and his wife share fresh baked muffins and cookies with customers whether you’re buying a new triathlon bike for several thousand dollars, a pair of handlebar grips for ten bucks or just looking around for inspiration. I’ve never felt pressured to buy a single thing, and on several occasions I’ve spent a half hour just shooting the breeze with him about tours he’s gone on or great places to ride around town or the newest specialty utility bike he has in the shop. Make no mistake, if you want to find the rock bottom price on something, buy online, but understand that someday there won’t be shops where you can go to be treated like a person instead of a transaction. The Broadway Cyclery also is fantastic in that they carry a wide range of product lines, including some very high quality brands that you can’t find at a big box retailer in the area or even Century for that matter. I purchased a special edition Brooks leather saddle three years ago that to this day performs great and makes my road weary bicycle look 10 times classier than it did on the shelves of the store I purchased it from. Mike is fair in his pricing and even offers limited gently used items(I scored some Specialized road shoes at probably 30% of what they would have been new and they were in great shape). As far as services, he’ll give you a price quote, but he’s the only mechanic I’ve encountered who will tell you if he thinks it’s worth it. There was a time when I witnessed a rude customer come in looking for him to repair a bicycle that was in bad shape and they were apparently looking for the service to be rendered 1.) right away; 2.) for free or virtually free. Despite their lack of respect for his time, he did his best to do a quick fix but suggested that to get the bike riding properly and safely, he could fix it but they might be better off buying a new bike since the repairs would cost more than the particular bike would sell for new. It’s this fairness and honesty that keeps loyal customers coming back. It’s for these reasons that TBC is worthy of your business.

I have used this store on several occasions and always the service has been above expectations! The first time I used the Broadway Cyclery was after I bought my daughter a 20-year-old Schwinn on Craigslist. The rear wheel was crooked and needed trued. I chose the Broadway Cyclery because the owner is a certified wheelbuilder, which made him overqualified to true that wheel, but gave me confidence that if anyone could do it, a wheelbuilder could. A rear brake cable was also broken and missing. I asked the Cyclery to just supply me with the cables but don’t worry about installing it because I know how to do brakes and I was trying to save money. I was warned that truing the wheel might be impossible as it might be too bent but the truing job was a success! Additionally, perhaps because it was Winter and they weren’t busy, they ran the brake cable and even properly adjusted the brake. All they left for me to do was to crimp a little end piece onto the cable. They charged me $ 15 to true the wheel and less than $ 5 for the brake cable. So now my daughter has an awesome bike to ride on the trails that was pretty much unrideable when I bought it off of Craigslist for $ 50. When they offered a $ 29 Groupon for the bike tune-up, I decided to take my bike in. I ride a 1990GT Arette. I’ve had a long standing problem with shifting where the chain comes off in the lowest gear. I’ve had it in to another bike shop(in another state) and paid HUNDREDS of dollars trying to get this problem fixed and I have been told that it’s a problem with the bike and just don’t use that gear combination. I had given up. When I took the bike in to the Broadway Cyclery for my half-price tune-up, which included gear adjustment, I told them of my long-standing shifting problem. I told them it wasn’t a big deal if it wasn’t fixed because I’d been living with the problem a long time and the chain didn’t come off as long as I didn’t use that gear combination, although it would be nice to be able to use that particular climbing gear. I am here to tell you today that after that tune-up, my old bike runs super smooth and my chain does not fall off. As it turns out, I needed a new chain. That fixed the problem. So yes, they did sell me something extra, but that 23 year old chain was worn out. The Broadway Cyclery is the place to go! These people are the best!

I purchased a new bike from The Broadway Cyclery this past May. I had a great experience. Mike was extremely helpful in talking about different options, in giving test rides, and in working on adjustments to make sure the bike I chose fit just right. I’ve gone back several times for accessories and to have a tune up done on another bike. I’ve been very satisfied with the bike and the service. The owners really love bikes and are great to talk to, and the atmosphere is friendly and fun.

My wife and I found this store last year while searching for folding bikes to take on an extended trip. As a specialized(and pricey) purchase, we wanted to make sure we went with a shop that had knowledgeable and friendly staff. We knew we would have a lot of questions, and would need to be taught how to maintain the bikes when far, far away. We cannot say enough about the experience we had. Throughout our multiple visits to look, inquire, and drool, we were met with patience and good cheer. We purchased both bikes through Broadway. Prior to leaving Mike went though a repair demo and put together an emergency parts kit. He even helped us via email when I happened to crash my new bike in nearby Brazil. The shop carries a great collection of gear not found in many stores. Many shops will order things for you, but Broadway has it in stock so you can see for yourself. We valued our experience at Broadway and have recommended them many times. They look out for their customers and try to make each visit special(especially on Saturdays with fresh cookies and a shop dog who likes head scratches). Go. Look around. See some cool bikes. Have fun.

What a wonderful bike store! They helped me find the perfect saddle(a Brooks, for the record) after decades of hunting elsewhere. The depth of knowledge is what separates them from competitors. Whether I need to upgrade a component or the whole bike, Broadway Cyclery is where I am going to head. Not only are they the best bike shop in the area, they are one of the best businesses — period.

Happened across this place while visiting friends in Ohio. Was impressed with the store and selection. REAL cyclists run the place; knowledgeable and easy to talk to.
