I love this place because I can walk over from my house if I run out of beer halfway through the night. People complain about the price but honestly it’s a small mom and pop shop in BEDMINSTER… it’s going to be more expensive than the Super Saver. The staff is always nice to me and they are literally ALWAYS open, even on holidays and during snow storms. If you are buying a ton of alcohol for a party maybe it won’t be the best decision, but at least you can find an employee with whom to converse and you aren’t always being chased around by guys stocking shelves.

Prices are high! And quite frankly an insult. I have seen up to a five dollar difference on some of the wines compared to the liquor store up at the top of the hills. The only problem is they are the only liquor store around that’s not a 10⁄15 min drive, and they know it(hence the price gouging). I’m finally sick of it, and will now take the 15 min ride no matter how small the order.

I live in Martinsville. I travel to pluckemin often to shop. About 15 minutes ago I traveled to Colonial Liquors with my younger, under aged cousin, to purchase a bottle of white wine. My family is over and we were going to be cooking and making sauce using the white wine. My cousin and I went in, I grabbed a bottle, walked to the register… And an employee(male/buzzed head) and also, clearly obnoxious. Proceeded to question and harass me because he assumed my cousin and I had bad intentions for the use of this bottle of wine on a Friday night. He told me that the next time I come in, I’m «not allowed» to bring my cousin in with me because she’s under 21 and he «knows» what we’re going to do with the wine once we’re home. I told him I was using my mother’s debit card, which she gave to me to buy the wine for cooking. And sarcastically added that he can call my mother for confirmation if he’d like. He proceeded to roll his eyes and laugh as if I was lying. With good reason, I gave him attitude while he finished the transaction. News flash Colonial Liquors… Hiring ignorant and a**hole employees, won’t bring you business. Including mine and my entire family’s. I’ll go to the liquor saver in Raritan where they don’t harass people. And they don’t automatically assume the worst when they see a young person buying a $ 9 bottle of wine. Ugh

I moved to the Hills a couple of years ago and have been a customer of Colonial Liquors ever since. Its a family run business and they are the nicest people in the world. My boyfriend says they have a good beer selection… I wouldn’t know because I think beer is gross: P. Me, I’m always looking for a new bottle of wine and the people working there always have great recommendations for me to try. Its not common to walk into a store where the staff is this friendly and helpful. All in all, It’s and awesome store and they even have the cutest white dog!

Prices are high and not a good selection. Staff seemed friendly but as I was shopping I overheard them talking about how someone came in and complained about prices. I thought, take the hint, but they said they told the people to shop elsewhere. I took their advice. The prices are way too high here.

Colonial Liquors is the only liquor store that I don’t have to drive 15 minutes to get to. It’s my local liquor store and I love it. The selection of wine and beer is great. The staff is always friendly and always have a new suggestion on craft beer. Thanks for getting us hooked on Milk Stouts! The prices are maybe an extra $ 1-$ 2 than other stores but it’s not like I’m drinking every night. I can take the hit. They are even pet friendly and always have a treat for my puppy.

I definitely agree with the review below. It’s overpriced on everything… wine is 2−3x the price of what you can get elsewhere. I recommend driving a little ways out and going somewhere else. Most places in the area are BYOB so try to stop by some where else prior to going. The people who do work here are friendly but their prices are crazy high… don’t say I didn’t warn you.

This place is a complete rip off! Everything is over priced because there are no other liquor stores in close proximity.
