When I lived in Austin, this was one of my favorite places to go during my lunch hour. Such original art. Love it!

I wandered in here while doing some early Christmas shopping and ended up leaving with gifts for three people! Loved their stuff! Everything they have is handmade(in America) and about 50% of their products are from local, Austin-area artists. I can’t wait to go in there and find more stuff as the seasons change. This is a great store if you’re interested in supporting local artists and community.

FYI this local arts and crafts gallery is no longer on South Congress per past reviews. They are now located in the Hill Country Galleria near Dillard’s. I had no intentions of shopping or even going in… but after an offer of a «free mimosa» from the guy outside I wondered in with my dog… The proprietress and a customer couple went all gaga over my dog until she was so excited she flipped over on her back wiggling around for belly rubs and they still encouraged my 75LB6 year old dog to act like a puppy in an art gallery with breakable things… I was worried this was a tactic for«buy what you break» until we started talking Dog Rescue:) Anyhow, love the shop and the owners! I found so many things I wanted for myself from horse paintings and more affordable Boxer Dog prints to beautiful locally made jewelry and some great ideas for Christmas gifts! I will definitely be back soon with my wallet!

Another store, where they display a cute jewelery line and they had one floor dedicated to paintings which were good enough but expensive. They had hand made bags, chains and other trinkets. The place had a great clean vibe, but again there was nothing i would buy. It is a good place to window shop+ place which cools you down in 100 F weather! AuthentiCITY you are a PrettyPITY! :) –Smriti

Another little gem on Congress Avenue which we happened across on our way to the AMOA. Mary Ober is the proprietor of this gallery which has a wonderful selection of work artisans, not only from Austin, but from all over the country. She is currently expanding her gallery to an area upstairs to display more pieces of art and to hold gallery events. If you’re looking for something unique, you’ll most likely find it at Authenticity Gallery.

This cute little gallery is a great place to stop in for some impromptu retail therapy or pick up an emergency gift if you’re a downtown worker bee like me. They feature a wide variety of artists, many of them local, in lots of different mediums — everything from paintings to metal work to jewelry to blown glass to bizarre rubber heads that move their mouths when you open and close the clothespin stuck in the back of their heads(as you can imagine, that particular item caught my attention). As with most gallery-type stores, the prices are a bit on the high side, but they do offer items in all price ranges — and you’ll be assured that whatever you get here is unique and interesting.
