I could say a million wonderful things about this amazing family who owns and operates a wonderful business in the small town of Beecher and a location in the south Chicago heights area. Super friend service with a smile, not to mention very personable. They really take the time to talk with their clients and remember their names! It’s always a nice feeling when you’re greeted by name!
On tops of all of the it all, they are amazing with children! My kids were in and out and no complaints! They got to watch a short novice clip while their eyes were examined! You can tell they have young children of their own! We will forever be clients at shelle optical!

My first impression was great. My exam was good and everyone was nice. I was ordering in frames which I was told would take about a week. After two weeks of absolutely no contact, I finally called them myself. The person I talked to had no idea what was going on with them. This was at 12:30 while I was on my lunch break. I gave her my cell phone number and asked her to leave me a voicemail since I will be at work. By 4:30, I still had no response so I had to call them again. I was told the frames were on backorder and they weren’t there but my lenses were there. You would think that when my lenses came in, they would check to see about my frames and contact me but they didn’t.
I left work early to just come pick out new frames because as I told them, I have been having headaches because of my eyes. I picked out new frames and asked her to call me when they were ready. I NEVER gave them my home phone number. Instead of calling my cell phone and leaving a voicemail like I asked, they called my house and left a message with someone. I didn’t get the message in time so I figured I would come on Wednesday to pick them up. Little did I know, there was no sign outside stating they would be closed, they were closed on Wednesday. Since they are closed on Thursdays, I now have to wait until Friday (3 weeks since my appointment) to get my glasses. If they had called the number I gave them, I could have had them Tuesday. I don’t know why they called my house, I never gave them my home phone number.
Very disappointing. I’ve never had problems with any other eye doctor getting glasses. I was already disappointed with the selection but I dealt with it and picked something and now I still don’t have them.

I haven’t had my eyes checked for over 5 years and was really dreading going to the eye doctor. But I absolutely loved the service at Shelle optical!
Let me just say this — Dr Beard is amazing!!! She truly took her time listening to my concerns and answering all my questions and most of all, this was the most thorough eye exam I’ve ever had!
From appointment booking, to checking my insurance, to helping me select frames, Chris was extremely helpful and patient with me. Their selection of frames is great and Chris knew how to find a frame that’s perfect for me!
This place is great, I will definitely be recommending it to my friends and family. In fact, I’m taking my husband and 5 year old son in for an appointment this Tuesday and I will definitely be coming back next year!
