Excited to have something new and non chain in Bel Air! We have gone a couple of times. Nice atmosphere. Service has been hit or miss. First time service was ok, second time great, third time not good at all! They have a very limited menu but the pizza is great!

Just got home from the Tipsy Whiskey dinner January 2016! What a great time. Food was excellent, whiskeys were on point and served by a knowledgeable guide. Started with a whiskey cocktail, then came the samples and a pleasant conversation of each. The food courses paired very well with the different nuances of the whiskeys. Recommend these dinners to everyone looking for more than just a great meal. The other people were at the table were wonderful to talk with. Very nice evening and a great meal and service. Thanks

This is my first time visiting. Not impressed. There was so many different types of beer available, was confusing. I picked the evolution and it was good. Wife picked ommegng beer. It was not good. Anyway, we ordered mussels and they were pretty good! We also ordered a margherita pizza. It was edible but I have had better in NY. The biggest reason for the two stars was the prices. My wife and I had two beers each, two shot of whiskey each, mussels and a pizza. $ 133.00 later… we found out that the shots of whiskey were $ 16.00 each! REALLY So of the $ 133.00 bill, $ 64.00 of it was the shots of whiskey. WONTDOTHATAGAIN! The shots weren’t even full or robust! Won’t go back!

Stopped in for lunch, and I was not disappointed. Ordered the deep fried brussel sprouts and they are fantastic! Their pizza has possibly the best crust I ever had. Go here, try it, you will not be disappointed.

When we first sat down I had some doubts as to whether or not we had made a good choice. When our fresh faced server approached for our drink order I ordered the House version of a Manhattan, up. I could tell by her expression that she was confused. She finally asked, «what did I mean by up?» Truly I thought she was joking but she wasn’t. After I explained what«Up» meant she confessed she had someone else order the same way and thought it was a new way of serving beer. No dear, «Up» is used when ordering cocktails. Despite the rocky start the rest of our experience was more than satisfactory. The Salumi appetizer, fresh meats and perfect cheese were wonderful with just one small quibble. The bread served was mediocre at best. Thinly sliced and considerably dry, a restaurant that clearly knows it’s way around a kitchen should be presenting a bread that tells everyone, «we know what we’re doing.» Our entrée that night was the spaghetti and meatballs served family style. It easily served our party of three. The sauce was just right and the meatballs, wait for it, actually contained meat! No mass produced balls of filler with a hint of meat, Birrroteca served the real deal. Other than a need to maybe better train the wait staff on the nuances of cocktail ordering I would definitely recommend Birroteca and I’m looking forward to going back.

There are few restaurant options in Harford County that are not chains, so we end up at Birroteca every few months. The atmosphere is hip, staff wear flannels, walks are dark, and there is sometimes live music. The pizzas have good flavor but I do not care for the cracker-type crust. Avoid the duck liver, and I would not recommend the braised lamb dinner. It was too oily for me and didn’t have much of an interesting flavor. Their appetizers, pastas and salads are consistently good and generally innovative. Dessert selection is also creative and all I’ve had have been good. They have an extensive alcohol selection as well as cheeses to go with a nice glass of wine. I’ve found the entrée selection can be limited but overall can usually find something good to eat at Birroteca. Nice bar scene as well for drinks and a snack.

The pizza and beer are always good here and I’m in love with the atmosphere. My only complaint is that while you are getting a very authentic and artisan meal, you walk out still feeling like you where jipped because you spent $ 60 on 4 drinks a pizza and some ice cream LOL. In all seriousness though, while its shaped like pizza, these dishes are all amazing and incredibly delicious. I’ve never had a dish I haven’t liked and their desert is mostly locally made ice cream. I great idea for a casual date or get together with a few friends. I will most likely return in the future!

I really do like the food it is a different type of food for Fallston and the surrounding area. I like the pasta with wild boar meat. I’m not a drinker but from what I hear the beer is good but it’s a little expensive. The one con is that it is a tight squeeze on a packed house. You will here other people’s discussions but it’s worth the food!

We love food and have traveled far and wide to try new places. This place is offically the best resturant in Harford county! Duck duck goose pizza is to die for! Even our picky children loved the food here! This place was one we stopped at on a whim and will now because a regular stop!

I love this place. The food is creative, the people are friendly, and the rotating beer menu is spectacular.

Decided to do dinner here a week or so ago. It’s really fun, what they did to the old Bill Batemans. There are chalkboards everywhere with specials listed or upcoming events. My sweetie enjoyed the beers he had. I got one drink to start off and wasn’t thrilled. It was the Baltimore Clipper. It is made with lime scrub. Scrub is made with equal parts sugar and vinegar along with whatever else they add, such as lime in this case. Anyway, it just wasn’t what I wanted. My next drink was the Cinnapple Tini. Very yum. With a cinnamon stick garnish. We got the Double D pizza with meatballs. Very nice thin crust. Really good pizza. They’ve got some really good specials that we will be back to try out. We sat at the bar. Had a great bartender named Carrie. Thanks got a great evening. We will be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. The pizza was great and I liked to beer selection. 4 stars because the wait for a table was longer than expected.

Very nice atmosphere, we tried the salmon chowder(a special), the rabbit gnocchi, duck duck goose pizza, and the pork belly atmosphere. The duck duck goose is really interesting and good, but kind of surprisingly sweet. We liked the salmon chowder, and the pork belly appetizer was super delicious. The polenta in it was gooey, not fried, and pretty cheesy. Very tasty, and definitely our favorite part of the meal. We weren’t huge fans of the gnocchi, it was almost… Kind of bland? It was lacking in a strong flavor or something to tie it together, not a cohesive dish. Wait staff was super friendly, and I’ll definitely be back to try more of what they have to offer… but not the gnocchi again lol.

This was my 3rd trip to birroteca. The food was very good, but the 3 stars is due to the service, or lack there of. We sat down at the bar which was fairly full, but there were 3 bartenders. One was speaking with a group next to us for a few minutes and didn’t acknowledge us at all. It appeared they were friends and were talking about an upcoming wedding. She finished her conversation and walked away. After s few more minutes another bartender came to help us. Thought everything would be good, but service remained lackadaisical at best. Sat with empty glasses for a few minutes… see pic. Also at times every bartender was gone… empty bar. I would say the food is solid but be weary of the service you may receive. There are some new restaurants coming to the area soon, so hopefully they will work on service.

I went last week with my mother and spouse. We had a very nice meal. The wines we ordered were excellent. Lots of vegetarian options. We ordered the mushroom and the locavore pizzas and the brussels sprouts. The sprouts were very good and were served with prosciutto that tasted like it was of higher quality than the stuff I buy at the fancy expensive food store. The pizzas were excellent. We ordered the largest size and one pizza would have been enough for two people. The service and ambiance were really good. The bathroom was functional but also an art project. I think this is an excellent addition to the food wasteland that is Bel Air, MD. I know that I can not have it both ways but this restaurant was more expensive than many places I frequent in DC. Sticker shock! It costs that much to have a great restaurant in Bel Air? The rent and labor are that high in Harford County? Maybe I should stick to DC!

Never mind that it’s next to a car dealership and industrial garages. This is a good addition to the Bel Air area’s restaurant collection of chains. Decided to come try Birroteca for mom’s birthday. Overall was impressed. Arancini for appetizer — 3 small lightly fried balls of rice wrapped around wild boar and cheese. This was the low point of our meal. Very little pork, the small cheese was unmelted inside, rice was bland. Shrimp and Mussels pasta special — You can definitely tell homemade pasta vs. dried. This was delicious. The light cream sauce was not heavy at all and flavorful. Shrimp and mussels were cooked perfectly. Only mark would be we wish we had more shrimp — especially for the $ 28 price tag. Prosciutto Pizza — Thin slices of prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, cheese, and arugula on a cracker thin crust. I love a good thin crust pizza, and this is one of the better ones I’ve had. The crust is what makes the pizza. The toppings were fresh. The prosciutto’s flavor was subtle, maybe lost with the arugula’s peppery taste. I will try some of the other pizzas they have on the menu. With a glass of wine each, we had a great meal. Had half a pizza to take home too. Our service was great. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful, and checked in us frequently. It’s hard to find a good Italian place, outside of Little Italy. I’ll be coming back.

This is on my very short list for Bel Air. LOVE the food here. I have dined in here 3 times. Twice on the restaurant side for full meal and once for pizza. The five stars are strictly for dining for full meal. The pizza was just ok in my opinion. I’ve had better. The other food I’ve had here(lamb & beef) is outstanding and the side dish portions are huge. Drinks are great too, excellent selection. The menu I believe changes often.

I am a real lover of Italian food. This place tries very hard. It just doesn’t deliver high end food. It is clear that they want to present a hipster vibe here. However, what they have is overpriced food that just falls flat. The Brussels sprouts are decent, but very oily. The risotto is just tasteless. You can get a $ 20 personal-size pizza that is decent. One other pet peeve is the $ 9 kids meals. Either they are discouraging kids or they have no idea what the completion charges for the little ones.

FINALLY! Harford County has been in desperate need of a good, non-chain, restaurant! Birroteca fits the bill nicely. Having been to the Baltimore location several times, I had high hopes for this location. Those hopes were fulfilled. I have been here twice since it opened and it was fabulous both times. Make sure to try the brussels sprouts, the burrata bruschetta, and the chick peas for an appetizer. We also really liked the locavore and the double d pizza. The only drawback to this place is the small parking lot. BUT, once you get inside, it is all worth it!

Birroteca had their soft opening tonight for friends and family and I was happy to be there to help them celebrate and work through any kinks. It’s their second location and an awesome addition to the Bel Air chain of restaurants. I’ve been to the Hampden location and this one is just as good if not better. The staff was on target and the dishes were great. We worked our way down the menu and tried at least one dish from nearly every section. I wanted more heat and seasoning… Maybe some red pepper flakes and slightly more seasoning. it Just made me want to try more dishes. As far as the staff goes, they were absolutely fabulous and the kitchen had it together tonight, especially for their first night of service. Tonight was a big deal and we had a fabulous time. We can’t wait to go back! Temprenillo Red Wine from Spain — order at least 2 bottles. Smooth and easy drinking. Calamari — fresh and I love the sautéed vs breaded style of calamari Mussels — good, on the small side but I don’t like the big fat gross ones. The chunky breaded croutons in the juice were delicious, I wish there was andouille sausage or something with more flavor Arancini — fried risotto balls — came out fresh and hot and delicious. They were a nice comfort appetizer. Fried Brussel Sprouts — delicious and perfectly fried. I wish they had red pepper flakes to add some heat. Bruschetta — Fresh Burrata Cheese, Melted Tomato, Basil. So good. Thick soft bread, the yummiest soft cheese and soft grape tomatoes. Fabulous. Bruschetta — Chicken meatballs and boiled egg with arugula. Even more fabulous. Order it. Artisan Cheese and Salumi chef platter — fabulous and I need a jar of that jam. Orecchiette pasta with duck liver — I’m usually not a liver person but this was good. Mushroom Pizza: Cremini, Shiitake & Portabella Mushrooms Taleggio Rosemary Oil. The crust was nice and burnt and I wish I could have eaten more. Chocolate torte or something or another. So rich and chocolatey with dried cranberries Pistachio Ice Cream — homemade and local!
